greenhulk: The black shark is not ur everyday phone bro. How many people do u think would buy it? It's targeted at the youth who play games on their phone. How many people have u seen using a black shark? The design of a phone speaks a lot about how successful it would be. Make it too aggressive and it will only be admired by tech experts while the majority of consumers would ignore it. It's the same with Asus rog phone 2 which technically should be the best phone out there by realistically it won't make much sales.
A few things come to mind, like if I drop this phone can it be fixed? What if something goes wrong? At the end most people will only admire it but won't buy. Why the double standards? The galaxy note series for instance was targeted towards business centric and graphic design folks, but am sure you'll agree with me that people from all walks of life use it. You do know the questions you're asking can be asked about Samsung flagships too right? So following your theory if Samsung adds an s-pen, curved screen & other gimmickry etc it's OK & for normal people while when brands like Asus, Oppo and Xiaomi go over the top with specs then its "aggressive" and only for "tech experts"? You say you're open minded towards all brands, but this statement of yours says otherwise. |

greenhulk: There is no feature that Samsung can put in their phone that xiaomi cannot add. Even tecno can add wireless charging, heart rate monitor, qhd oled screen and ip68 water resistance. These technology have been available, it's just a matter of hiring the best engineers. The main problem is would u spend so much to buy such phone when there are trusted brands like Samsung around?
Xiaomi have a target market which is mainly in India where standard of living for most people is below average. Same way tecno have a target market which is Africa. If xiaomi make a phone with features like the S10+, who's gonna buy them? Because for sure the phone will be expensive (they remove these features to cut down the cost as much as possible). Let's say S10+ costs $900 and xiaomi makes a similar phone and sell for $800, u know people would rather buy a Samsung for 900 than xiaomi for 800, brand loyalty. Plus the US is one of the major msrket for Samsung, they can afford such expensive phones, xiaomi don't even seel their phones in the US officially.
This is one of the reasons LG, Sony and HTC are going down. It's not like they don't make great phones, but when u make a flagship phone and sell for same process as Samsung flagships, then ur gonna run at a loss. Where the real competition is right now is the flagship killer segment which is where OnePlus are focused on and where xiaomi are dominating too. Good analysis but I can't help but notice some misconceptions. True Samsung & Huawei make great flagships (especially with their exclusive screen tech and camera tech respectively) and Xiaomi is midrange king. This doesn't mean Xiaomi don't have their Black Shark, Mi and Mix series especially the Black Shark 2 Pro & Mi Mix 4 excelling in the necessary markets they're needed. This is why they ventured into opening physical stores in Europe. I've come to realize that Nigerians misconstrue bloated pricing for quality and superiority. That aside you see people quickly digressing in a conversation comparing a midrange and a flagship as if Xiaomi does not offer true flagships too. The truth of the matter is until Xiaomi revise their pricing strategy which aims to peg profits to 5%, you'll always see a Xiaomi device priced competitively. That doesn't mean they offer less. |

If you can figure out how to pay and ship your item straight to you then you're good to go. |

Mykcool: I've been waiting for you to come o!! Abeg address the place he quoted you please for clarity sake. Nor vex for my request because I want to read his response to it in particular Am responding to your request so others don't get misinformed and care less about that rigid guy's opinion. Firstly my phone, the Redmi Note 5 AI does not support Camera2api by default which meant peeps who needed the Gcam mod on their RN5 devices had to root in order to have it installed. Now to your question; I made that post with respect to people who fancied Gcam going thru hoops to root their RN5 AI in order to install Gcam. As a known proponent of non-tweaking of MIUI I was teasing them since I couldn't see why there was so much fuss about Gcam. Thankfully current devices don't need root to install Gcam. Mind you I still use my device without any form of tweaks (rooting or modding) and I've got no issues |

jboixxx: Software flashing ISN'T same as rooting. That's one of the issues you're having here.... Both are never same and can NOT be used interchangeably Dude doesn't know jack about smartphone tweaks, yet making so much noise here. Las Las someone sometime in the past admitted that as at the same time Redmi 6 not even 5 was reigning. Flagship phones were still besting them in cameras etc. And someone was saying his camera on his redmi note 5 beats a flagship S8+ camera. Anyway.....
I said this times without number that you cant enjoy Gcam on a device without rooting @oga jboixxx. @jboixxx I draw my conclusions from what I read here. Finite...
I think that will be all.
Have a blessed day Modified I apologise to all those who I quoted. You really need to update your information. If indeed you were following this thread all along as you claimed you'll know that earlier versions of Xiaomi devices needed root to have Gcam installed. But as a brand that listens they now make it installable and free of such hassles. Your nitpicking shows you're just being mischievous like someone observed. It's obvious you're not tech savvy and this discussion about Gcam is above your level of understanding. Ignorance they say is bliss |
Phones › Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by 2kurupt(m): 3:01pm On Oct 11, 2019 |
KngGezy: Now this is new I didn't know that you have Gcam from different developers. Nevertheless those monikers are too versed in software to have downloaded a wrong or bad Gcam I can look for their conversation on this thread and quote it if you want me to The bolded is the reason you should get all your facts right before making an assertion. Gcam is a third party camera port built on Google's algorithms, therefore there's no way a device will have only a build. The person you're referring to obviously installed a faulty build. Even you, if you do code can tweak it to your taste and it becomes a port for the device of your preference. Lastly people don't use gcam because their default camera apps are crappy, like someone said they're going for the icing on the cake, personally I use my phone without any alteration and am fine with it. Wouldn't you rather want a device with upgradable camera abilities than getting stuck with follow-come camera app? |

Well you've a point. But as they say "better soup na money kill am". The mi band can't be expected to pack all those at such a cheap price |

Ae. The features offered by the mi band 4 makes it a steal for the price in comparison to that of other top brands. I still don't get the fun in making a call via a smartwatch with its tiny screen and all. That's a gimmickry that am sure a user will soon get bored of after the show-off phase. |

foolbuster: Wow !! you have a serious inferiority complex problem dude, seriously. No offence.
Your first reply out of nowhere and completely unrelated to my post. That i think cost of phones show i have arrived. really? Is that how you console yourself? Now its london used phone. See, You need to upgrade your thinking bro. There are actually people that buy high end brands without stress. They are better too. Lol, see who's talking about complex I know your type. Empty, depressed souls finding solace in mundane things. It's your type that will use their life savings or school fees to buy a gadget with the hope of peppering others. Sorry to burst your bubble, NOBODY gives a rat's azz what device you're using or it's cost because everybody is trying to live thier lives. FYI peeps that shell out their hard-earned money to buy "tear rubber" high-end smartphones have no time to be making noise on online forums, unlike London used device patrons like you. Better grow up boy |

seanwilliam: i discover 3 or 4 days ago(sunday night) that a guy is here with 12 monikers (i stopped taking them serious since then)just to post on every thread on phone section and win any argument in favor of xiaomi. in short, most xiaomites here are sponsored. xiaomi, in all round, is an insult to samsung but a compliment and complement to huawei. 12 monikers!? Haba that's one heck of an exaggeration. FYI the Xiaomi thread has been in existence and booming with support long before Xiaomi dreamt of setting up shop in Nigeria. It marvels you that people can show love & support for something without financial inducement and that's why you think the thread is being sponsored right? The keyword is "value for money". We that use Xiaomi refuse to be exploited in the name of big name, when our papa no get shares for those companies. |

Jake420: But let's be real in quality xiaomi will never reach Samsung. None of their phones have water resistance even the 2800$ concept mi mix alpha, but the s11 is coming with a spectrometer, a 5* optical zoom better than any you've seen so far because it might use variable or liquid lens, it's exynos is gonna match snapdragon 865 because of new architecture. It's gonna be the best all-rounder next year. You know this because you've handled and used a Xiaomi device? Since when did water resistance become the yardstick to know the quality of a phone? Aside putting seals around openings & an IP rating what more is special about water resistance? |

Mark9854: what is hindering you from granting that accessibility IS AN APP, this APP has been granted a special permission to display over other apps... i don't know what app you may have granted that feature but to proceed you need to look for the app and disable the permission. am sorry if am not too techy to help out, i really want to! My initial comment was not a request but to help someone fix an issue. He has tried it already and confirmed it worked. Next time read between the lines. |

If you had done the right thing, we can blame the governor but for now, it's your fault. Quick ball as a system app is not supposed to need permissions, I don't use it though. What I posted is actually for granting trusted 3rd party apps access to control some OS features. |
