I have had a mixed experience with the Redmi note 2, an older MediaTek phone. Xiaomi dropped support for it faster than you would drop a hot slice of yam. They just released source codes for that phone this year (2019), after custom ROM developers had completely lost interest.
Let's hope there is much better support for the Redmi note 8 pro. Alternatively, let's see what other manufacturers will produce with the new MediaTek SOC.

Avoid anything Mediatek from Xiaomi, especially when you intend to use it for long term. Else "no update" will become a greeting for you.

I'm really sad about this. I have a shop I run here so except I get a good job outside our town I can't just leave. The best bet is to rent a place and stay on my own but No! Learn to take things slow, build friendship, observe and study potential guys you'll like to date especially guys within reach. A reasonable guy wouldn't find it out of place to come see you where you reside i.e. shop or home. Am sure even your parents will start getting comfortable that they know the kind of people you interact with.

Many here don't just speak without experience, don't need to blow trumpets, but I find that you and some other Samsung users have not even touched a Xiaomi phone before! You sound like one who just discovered how good Samsung is after suffering in the hands of Transsion for years. I wonder how you speak of what you haven't seen or touched. You already praise Oneui as the best for instance when you haven't used others. Remember as a kid, until you visit other schools you'll think yours is the biggest .

I just figured out why my Mi 8's battery was a disappointment: the poor glo network on band 3 was the culprit. That was probably the same problem I had with my rn7's battery. Everyone kept praising the battery capacity on those phones yet my own kept struggling to do 10hrs unsupervised.

I noticed this too. Glo band 28 is still the ish. I guess they introduced the band 3 just to stop being the sore thumb in the 4g LTE landscape

Well said. It's about my practise too. But this my RN 7 on 32gb ROM, I feel choked. Almst as if I am using 16gb rom on Os 6. The rate at which apps generate extra data is alarming. You install an app of say 30mb.u nber even open am, e don chop like 60mb... Wey person for say mayb na the data person load on top am. When one now starts to use the app, the data size increases rapidly . I just wish apps could be moved to mmc. *sighs*

Well you can always upgrade rather than be managing knowing you can get something better.

For 2 years timeline to work you've to do proper market research, read reviews and checkout all alternatives etc before making a purchase.

On a serious note first of all lemme ask, have you used a smartphone that supports fast charging and always charge it with a fast charger?

If your answer to my question is yes then you & I know that you can't fast charge it for 30 minutes & then use the phone for 2 days like you said. Even Quick Charge 6 that will be released in the future will not have that feature.

It's obvious you have swallowed the marketing gimmickry of phone manufacturers hook, line and sinker.

Secondly it has been observed over time that continued fast charging depletes battery strength. In case you missed it read comment by okikiosibodu to my initial post on this matter. You can Google it if you're not convinced

Are fast charger worth the Hype or Gimmicks?

They are not if you ask me. Both fast charging technology and fast chargers are overrated and only succeed in adding premium price tags to already bloated smartphone costs.

I don't see what the fuss about coz of a 15-30 minutes charging time difference at the detriment of your battery health even.
