tinsel:I was only responding to the guy that attributed the protest and correction process (then ongoing) to use of smartphones |
seborrhic:First, inec never banned phones outright even from the very first announcement of the measure at the stakeholders meeting in Osogbo by the chairman of inec. Politicians only deliberately misinterpreted it to force inec to reverse the order. Secondly, the protest/correction of the ayedaade result was not as a result of anything sent by phone but from the official collation of the wards results that already took place at the local government level which all parties agents have copies of. |
Unlimited22:APC would have won Ede north and south LGs wouldn’t have voted massively for PDP and that is what tilted the scale. |
TundeBricklayer:Rerun won’t favour APC, that is if it ever gets to that. |
Very soon, foreign observers will be monitoring elections of Students Union Government in this country. In a self respecting nation, foreign observers should only be allowed for presidential election, but in Nigeria, foreign observers will even be making pronouncements on local government wards elections. A pity. |
Tedpgrass:Resemble am small but Buhari no get bear bear |
Ioannes:The certificate wasn’t procured for her ministerial job. She presented same certificate when she was screened for the post of commissioner in Ogun State in 2011 |
danduchi:It is a brand new MG car donated by Cosmas Maduka (Coscharis Motors). The Ooni who had earlier donated N1m to the entire graduating class and N250,000 to the best graduating student was called upon to present the car as the chairman of the occasion but he delegated that honour to another Oba who is a medical doctor (Osemawe of Ondo). Many of the Obas present later individually donated various amounts to the best student. |
That is “Principle and Practice of Murdering Your Husband” ![]() |
What kind of reasoning do we get on nairaland these days? Must everything be politicized or ‘buharised’? The lady only referred to the reaction of the people in her state to buttress her argument that people don’t generally appreciate or have regard for matters relating to environment. They don’t therefore see the environment ministry as important enough for their representative in the federal executive council when there are other ‘juicy’ posts. Truth be told, how many Nigerians (even elites) appreciate the importance of environmental issues? Tell a professor not to dump his used car battery anyhow, he will tell you to come and swallow it. Now tell a typist that the used toners should be sent back to recycling plant because it can degrade environment. Even President Trump regards climate change as a hoax hence his determination to unwind all measures previously taken to address environmental degradation. |
BabaOwen:Can ICC stand the following actions that US intends to take as reported by BBC, if it continues the investigation? What steps would the US take? ICC judges and prosecutors would be barred from entering the US and their funds in the US would be sanctioned. "We will prosecute them in the US criminal system. We will do the same for any company or state that assists an ICC investigation of Americans," Mr Bolton said. More "binding, bilateral agreements" would be signed to stop countries submitting US citizens to the court's jurisdiction. Mr Bolton said: "We will not co-operate with the ICC. We will provide no assistance to the ICC. We will not join the ICC. We will let the ICC die on its own. After all, for all intents and purposes, the ICC is already dead to us." White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders backed Mr Bolton, saying President Donald Trump would use "any means necessary to protect our citizens [and] those of our allies from unjust prosecution from the ICC". https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-45474864 |
Esseite:The crux of his comment is not about Dino or Sam. He made a valid point about the training budget being non-claimable by the protesters. |
The PDP man using what was done to Timi Frank in APC as justification is just hiding behind a finger. APC knew what it did to Frank was unconstitutional but they schemed him out because they never trusted him because he was fiercely loyal to Atiku. It is the same APC that promptly promoted Nafena (the deputy publicity secretary) to replace Bolaji Abdulahi when he resigned and defected. Is Nafena from the same zone as Bolaji? |

ukay2:Wao. I just noticed that this year. May be because of the quantum leap ![]() Thanks for the prompt response |
Flour Mills of Nigeria declared N1 dividend per share but I noticed I was credited with gross amount this morning without deducting withholding tax. Was there an amendment of the dividend rate at the AGM on August 30th? Anybody? |
Jeezuzpick:For the purpose of correcting the error in the bill, YES. That is the reality. The National Assembly will exercise that sovereignty on your behalf since you have already voted them for that purpose. |
Jeezuzpick:He already explained himself in a letter to the relevant institutions that matter in this case as required by law. You are just being informed of his actions nothing more. |
Bitterleafsoup:Nobody can correct any error (even typographical) in a bill sent for assent or a law except it is re-passed by the legislature because it must be reflected in the Votes and Proceedings of the House. Note that the legislature made some errors in the amended electoral bill earlier sent for assent in June which the president drew their attention to. That was why the new (now rejected) corrected version was passed again on July 24 i.e. the day they abruptly vacated. Apparently they didn’t do a good job of the corrections. |
olumose001:It appears to be minor in the picture but seeing that the airbag deployed, it should be more than just a scratch. |
Ark111:Inec is not asking for more. Both the president and inec agreed that the needed sum is N189b. The president asked for 143b to be approved this year while the remaining N46b should be included in 2019 budget. Inec fears that 2019 budget may not be ready in time for February elections, so it wanted the National Assembly to approve the whole amount now instead of breaking it. |

The saddest thing is that if efcc had been the one that published the exact press statement released by Akwa Ibom state government just three months ago, Nigerians would have accused it of witch hunting. |
So Nigerian legal immigrants in US are only 262,000 and we always talk as if we constitute half of USA population. Just like I was reading the statistics of foreign (non-residents) students in US as at February 2018 which put Nigerian foreign students in US at just 12,144. It appears we have the penchant to overestimate our population both at home and abroad. |

sojiboy:Gbajabiamila did not initially moved the no confidence motion. He reprimanded the Ministers for delegating the duty of replying the invitation that was personally signed by the Speaker (the nation’s number 4 man) to the permanent secretary. That was an affront on protocols and the House. He is right. He then moved a motion that instead of just sectorial hearing, a panel should be constituted to investigate Ajaokuta Affairs since the House is aware of various allegations against the Ministers of underhand dealings on ajaokuta. The motion was seconded by the chairman of Rules and business. However, the mood of the members was for more combative action and instead of raising an amendment to Gbajabiamila’s motion, they asked the Speaker to call the question with the hope of voting it down. That would be a big parliamentary slap on Gbajabiamila face being the Leader of the House. The Speaker sensed the imminent disgrace of the House Leader and called him over to his table and after consultations, the Speaker gave him a soft landing by providing further information that the Sole Administrator of Ajaokuta and all the staff of the ministry too boycotted the hearing which he adduced to instructions from the Ministers. Gbajabiamila returned to his seat and in breach of parliamentary procedures, was recognized again by the Speaker to make additional motion to his already seconded motion which was yet to be voted on. Gbajabiamila jocularly attributed the breach to the day being “a special day”. It was this additional motion that called for the vote of no confidence and being in accord with the mood of house, was unanimously adopted. All in all, what is really the effect of vote of no confidence on a Minister in a presidential system of government? NO effect whatsoever. Even in parliamentary system, legislators only pass vote of no confidence on the entire government (for the government to fall), if it just a Minister, it should be motion of censure. Gbajabiamila apparently just placated the ignorant fools in the house. |
psucc:The two ministers actually replied to the invitation earlier than the letter that is displayed here. Their earlier letter was the one read by the Speaker on the floor. The speaker read 3 correspondences viz: his initial invitation letter; the Ministers reply to the invitation in which they explained why they would be absent; and then his own reply to the Ministers letter which he did on 27th February. It was in the Speaker’s reply of the 27th February that he made the allegations of compromise against the Ministers and that is what they attempted to clear in their letter of 1st March which was delivered after the House session had begun and wasn’t read by the speaker. |
Giel:What exactly do you want me to explain? A poster accused you of replying her with temper which you denied. I pointed out a line in the said post which I also noticed as coming off as if you were irritated which apparently you didn’t interprete that way (hence your denial of the accusation of having a temper) Having been following your previous updates, I said it was unlike Giel’s characteristic way of posting and put unGiel in inverted commas to show it was a contrived word.
