BlowBack:I thought I was responding to a reasonable person not a sub-human. |
BlowBack:Yes that bridge is very strategic. It has cut-off north-west from direct access to parts of north central and south-west. All the trailers and tankers that used to ply that axis have all turned to Kaduna - okene road causing heavy hold-up It is like a bridge in Benin-asaba expressway collapsing, you think that is not a national emergency? |
ogocology:When did you do the last oil change which you said was when you checked it to be 97,000? If it had been long, then I suspect you have clocked additional 3,000 miles since then which took your accumulated mileage to over 100,000. Since the maximum readable mile on your odometer is 99,999, it means it will roll-over to 00001 instead of 100,000 and counting starts afresh from 00001 |
Ede is not the most populous local government in the senatorial district. Wait for Iwo and Ejigbo first |
LastMumu:The difference is that, prior to this new system, the ministries will deduct vat and withholding taxes from payments made to contractors but will not remit it to the tax authorities. They would just regard it as additional revenue and spend it as unbudgeted expenditure. This was why contractors hardly get receipt for such deductions since tax authorities will only issue receipt for remitted taxes. Now, the accountant general will withhold such deductions and remit. |

LordAdam16:You will shine with these points in a primary school civic class, not any higher. First off, don't turn history on its head. SW real party had no history of alliance with the northern party prior to CPC and ACN. If anything, it was SE/SS party that had been doing so - NPC and NCNC in the first republic and NPN and NPP in the second republic. In the third republic, only anambra was in SDP, the rest were in NRC where you had the conservative northern power brokers. The time SW parties wanted alliance, AG reached out to NCNC to form UPGA in 1964 elections but after the alliance was defeated in that election, NCNC returned to NPC in which it had been in alliance since 1960 under which Zik was made the president. In the run-up to 1983 elections, UPN wanted to align with NPP to form the abortive Progressive Party Alliance. It failed. You don't appear to differentiate between tribes or regions on one hand, and partisan politics on the other. I said 'Tinubu of ACN/APC' owes no loyalty to 'Jonathan of PDP' in a partisan contest and you replied by asking what loyalty does SE/SS owe Obj. You are actually agreeing with my point. They owe Obj loyalty, not personally, but because he was the candidate of PDP which was and still is the dominant party in the two regions. If they had not wanted him, he wouldn't be the party candidate in the first instance. Once he won the primary, they are duty bound to ensure the party success. You even referred to some northerners that made GEJ lose in the region as saboteurs. It means you agreed they did something wrong and in real fact, they acted wrongly. Contrast that to the same 1999, the dominant party in SW was AD and they cleared the polls. Obj's PDP lost woefully in SW despite his being the son of the soil but he was in a 'wrong' party so to say. SE/SS and SW majority have never been in the same party from pre-independence to date. AG/NCNC, UPN/NPP & NPN, SDP/NRC and recently AD, ACN, APC/PDP except by some ephemeral alliance like in the first republic UPGA and AD/PDP in 2003. It therefore stand to reason that the dominant party in each region will have the majority vote though the other party will have some votes too. Abiola of SDP got a number of votes in the SE but he still lost to Tofa of NRC in total votes in the same region because NRC was dominant there. That is party loyalty. As for Tinubu, he was never ever in control of Ondo state, they moved from AD to PDP to Labour. In ekiti, they moved from AD to PDP and when fayose imbroglio happened in 2007, he teamed up with fayemi to get a court judgement reversal of the initial PDP victory. When fayose patched up again with PDP, he returned the state to PDP. I don't know who you attributed APC success in Edo state to. Is it Tinubu or oshiomole? This is not to belittle Tinubu or ACN/APC, no doubt, ACN/APC is a big party in SW and during the last presidential election, majority of non-aligned SWner bought into its campaign promise to vote for APC but PDP still got substantial votes above constitutional threshold in almost all the SW state. Until a single party becomes dominant in all the regions of the south, don't expect a pan-south support for a southern candidate just like Abiola of SDP didn't win in SE dominated by NRC and OBJ won in SE dominated by PDP but lost in his own region dominated by AD. |
LordAdam16:Though this argument is getting away from the object of the thread, let me chip this in. In the 13 of the 18 years in the 4th republic that the southerners have held presidential powers, how far do you think the 'Hausa-Fulani hegemony' was dismantled? If the south relied on being the president to be able to dismantle the hegemony, do you really think it will be in presidency in perpetuity? Why do you think the north cannot reverse the dismantling when it is their turn? In the run-up to 2015 election, southerners (mostly SE/SS) naively believed that they had successfully weaned the middle-belt away from the so-called hegemony, what happened in that election? Why would anyone in a partisan democracy realistically think that a Tinubu in ACN/APC owes a Jonathan in PDP any loyalty in an election that is a zero-sum game? That is real definition of disloyalty and treachery. Something like hat allegedly happened in 2011 and we all know all the insinuation of back-hand dealing directed at tinubu. All southerners are not in the same party, they cannot all face the same direction. To be in one party and surreptitiously undermine same in the name of undefined southern solidarity is treachery. Your last paragraph appeared to equate tinuby's political fortune to that of SW. So anything not personally given to him but given to a south-westerner who is not his acolyte is a loss to the SW. If there is any hegemony, it is the structure of the federation that gives it not presidential powers and no southern presidents even tampered with that (2014 conference report, if you read it, tampered with nothing fundamental and the surface it scratched is still subject to full constitutional amendment procedures) |
LordAdam16:The commenters that I referred to made it look as if saraki will complete Buhari's term. That is the wrong impression that I corrected. Yorubas are not fighting to become president. Even in 2015, yorubas in apc knew it was the turn of the north. No record of tinubu ever aspiring to upstage northern candidates then. The fight was who would become the vp among various southern zones. |
Do people read the constitution at all before commenting. The only person that can take-over from Buhari that will not require election within 3 months is osinbajo. If the senate president becomes acting president (for whatever reason), election must be called within 3 months to elect a new president and a new vice. Who told you guys that the north will allow saraki to serve its allotment and who say saraki will want to work for others to come and eat. |
bikefab:NTA correctly reported it last night that Aisha would stop over in Addis Ababa (to attend First Ladies meeting) on her way to London to see her husband. |
itsdumebi:That bolded part is wrong Maitama sule was founding member of Northern People Congress in 1951, He was a member of Federal House of Representatives from 1954 to 1966 and was the Chief Whip of the House in 1950s. He was also the Federal Minister of Mines and Power from 1959 to 1966. Note that in the first republic, Nigeria practiced parliamentary system of government where ranking legislators are also ministers at the same time. |
bayulll011:It was infra dignitatem quoting an unfortunate person like you in the first place. I will give a pole distance henceforth. I don't want the curse placed on you to radiate to me. |
bayulll011:The senator did it at his spare time and apparently in a hotel. Clinton did his own inside the Oval Office during official hours. Clinton was not even impeached by the congress for the act but for lying under oath. Trump grabbed them by the pus.sy and many other women came up to corroborate, yet he won the presidency. Most big men in public and private sectors have guest houses. What do they do there? You have protocol girls in Nigeria just like you have escorts girls abroad There is nothing peculiar with Nigeria in this matter. If you are personally unfortunate, limit it to yourself, don't generalize it to the whole nation. |
Abu Dhabi airport in UAE was one of the airports in many Muslim countries that USA banned airline passengers from carrying large electronic devices onboard. Well good news for Etihad airline passengers. They can now carry any electronic devices onboard and in addition, all immigration and customs clearance will now be done in Abu Dhabi. Such passengers will be treated as domestic passengers on landing in US. The United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) facility at Terminal 3 (T3) in Abu Dhabi Airport is a purpose-built facility that allows US bound passengers to process all immigration, customs and agriculture inspections in Abu Dhabi before they depart. Abu Dhabi International Airport is one of only a handful of airports outside North America that offer the CBP facility. Having cleared CBP, guests can check-through their baggage to their final destination in the US. When they arrive, they will be treated as domestic passengers, meaning they will save time connecting to other flights or on to their final destination. All Etihad Airways guests flying to US destinations must use the CBP facility at Abu Dhabi International Airport. Please review the US CBP pre clearance requirements before arriving at the airport. Check-in for all flights to the US will close two hours before departure for guests who are starting their journey in Abu Dhabi. All guests must present themselves at the US Customs and Border Protection facility no later than 60 minutes before departure; failure to do so may result in refusal of travel. Please note that by using the preclearance facility at Abu Dhabi International Airport, your date of entry to the US on your passport will be the date you depart from Abu Dhabi. Duty-free goods, including cigarettes and alcohol, cannot be sold on board flights which have precleared US Customs and Immigration in Abu Dhabi. Do not buy duty-free liquor or perfumes in excess of 100ml. https://www.etihad.com/en/before-you-fly/us-preclearance/?CID |
TheLordIsGr8:Your argument is flawed. The main mission of Jesus was to die for your sin. If he had saved himself, he would have failed in his mission. He didn't save himself to fulfill his father's wish to the end. Now apply that to Kiyosaki. Tell me, if you read 'Rich Dad, Poor Dad' and your father is poor, you won't look your father one kind. He made being rich look so easy and being poor almost a crime. |
Caustics:You mistaken her for Zain Asher. Isha is a Sierra Leonean |
chukzyfcbb:If Kiyosaki knew that much, why did he go bankrupt last year? |
daddytime:Even countersigned by the president! Atrocious. How did they campaign? |
irynterri:You make sense die. 1,000,000 likes See how Saudi, UAE, Egypt suddenly woke up to round up on Qatar accusing it of supporting terrorism after trump visited the region. Whether right or wrong accusation, at least we know they now know that terrorism is not something to glamorize. |
Chidexter:Name any developed country that its government is into oil refining. Ignorance is bliss. |
Good questions. Here are my own insights 1. Dangote refinery will buy crude at international price from Nigeria. It has facilities to also receive crude from other countries in case Nigeria fails to supply crude due to sabotage or unrest. Of course it will pay fully for the imported crude. 2. Refineries- whether Dangote or anyone, don't sell at subsidized prices. Subsidy is in distribution sector between the marketer/government and final consumers. Subsidy arises because the cost to the marketer (which include full refinery price) is not being fully paid for by the final consumer at the filling stations and somebody (government in this case) must step in to reimburse the marketer with the difference since marketer cannot operate at a loss. In all cases, refineries would have received full payments from marketers before it supplies. How marketers sell the products is not the refinery's concern 3. Note that Dangote refinery together with all the four nnpc refineries (working at full capacity) cannot meet Nigerian refined petroleum products needs and there is still need for either importation or more refineries. The 600,000 barrels capacity for Dangote is for both refinery and petrochemical sections just like that of 110,000 barrels for kaduna is divided between refinery and the petrochemical also. 4. On the issue of forex savings to Nigeria, either out of ignorance or just for simplicity in reporting, the quantum of savings from import substitution of any product in nigeria is usually overstated. They usually report gross amount of the current forex that is used to import presently as savings as if there will be no forex cost incurred in producing within Nigeria. Most of the inputs will still come from abroad and require forex outflow. 5. In the case of Dangote refinery, the forex savings will be substantial because the major raw materials (crude oil) will come from Nigeria. Since it is a Nigerian company, the flow cycle will be like this: a. Nigeria sells crude oil to Dangote at international price b. Dangote pays in dollars to government account in CBN c. Dangote sells refined products to either Nigeria or overseas marketers d. In the case of oversea marketers, the export proceeds in dollars come to Dangote through the CBN e. In the case of local marketers, marketers raise letter of credit through banks and pay in naira f. Nigerian govt pays dollars to Dangote through CBN for the marketers letter of credit g. Dangote converts some of the dollars to naira to meet local expenses including salaries by selling it to CBN h. Dangote draws from its dollars account to meet its dollars denominated expenses including paying for crude from Nigeria i. The cycle goes back and starts from 'a' all-over. As you can see, the dollars will in most cases (except for some foreign expenses) be circulating within the CBN either for Nigeria government or for Dangote. That is whole essence of industrialization especially when the inputs are majorly locally sourced. |
Dream2:My bad. Confused him with another person. |
Kiakia:Yari was a businessman before he became the governor and is still a bizman. In fact he hardly stay in his state to govern. He only visit there once in a while. From the documents presented in the post, the title deed was dated 1st November 2012. He became the governor in 2015, so he could not have used zamfara fund to acquire the property. Sahara Reporter surprisingly and ignorantly confused the date (2017) of assessment for property tax with the date of acquisition even when it presented both the assessment and title papers. |
reality1010:I only reacted to the manner you off-handedly waved off the heroic struggles of the south-Sudan and eriterian people in your earlier post by insinuating that if they could vote overwhelmingly for secession despite being far less educated than igbos, then your own people votes would be a piece of cake. You didn't take into account that these people fought physical wars continuously for 30 to 50 years just to get that referendum and at that stage, not even their enemies expected anything less than overwhelming vote in favor of independence. Sit-at-home protest showed nothing. The south-west used that in 1993 to 1995 even in the face of military tyranny of Abacha. Then many people including Igbos stayed away from the streets in SW not because they supported Abiola's cause but to get out of harms way from the miscreants that were enforcing the order. I wish you well in your secessionist bid but don't demean other people or their struggles. |
Freeman59: HausaOverlord:She actually disclosed that she was a corper. Read the 4th tweet where she was narrating how she handed the blackberry Z10 phone to them and they demanded for gold. She told them that she had no gold (jewelry) because she was a corper |
reality1010:How did you arrive at your conclusion in the bolded part? Usual chest beating? South-Sudan fought war of separation with Sudan for 50 years (1955 - 2005) with only a break of 11 years Eriteria fought war of independence for continuous 30 years (1961 - 1991) with Ethiopia And you are now saying they voted overwhelmingly for secession despite their illiteracy. So you think they fought wars for generations (the main reason for their educational underdevelopment) so that they could vote against independence in a referendum that was just a formality? Igbos that are more educated, how many years did their war for independence last? Just two and half years. |
nototribalist:What is there for the information minister to react to? The OP was just being mischievous to emphasize on Buhari's son. If anything, that guy was an inconsequential part of the delegation. Did you see him sit anywhere near osinbajo? If he was the leader of the delegation as the OP mischievously portrayed him, he should be sitting where the Chief Justice Onnoghen sat on the right of osinbajo. Senator Philip Adudua (a Christian senator representing FCT) was part of the delegation and sat to the immediate left of the acting president while the FCT minister sat on the far right next to onnoghen to show that this is an official goodwill visit not a family affair. |
SalamRushdie:The default started early though. Just immediately after the end of moratorium in middle 2014. Surely, they couldn't have known that Buhari would come in or mess up the economy by then. Remember that the banks wanted to take this action long ago but were prevailed upon by govt that asked the bank regulators to allow the banks to continue carrying the loans without impairment. Now that the banks financial year is fast approaching and the loan would be due for impairment made the banks to fast-track the calling in of the collateral which is the shares held by the owners. This will hugely mitigate the extent of provision for the loans at year end. |
Topestbilly:The security is specifically for him. They do that for the members of their royal families or royal guests You can see the securityman redirecting a pilgrim that was about to cross Saraki's path in the last picture. |
The accident happened in the undeveloped part of Gwarimpa in Team 6 area. The road is ungraded and a temporary culvert was constructed over a gulley created by a seasonal stream on the very sloppy road leading to some newly built churches and a British school. On Tuesday afternoon, there was a heavy downpour and the gulley was filled with water overflowing the culvert. I learnt the victim was on his way to pick his child from the British school and he apparently misjudged where the culvert was, and coupled with the sloppy road, the car slipped into the water-filled gulley. May his soul Rest In Peace |
capatainrambo:Say what you know. There is no country of note that recognize Taiwan All those countries you mentioned don't recognize Taiwan and they only maintain the kind of relationship that Nigeria just adopted with it. Taiwan offices in those countries are regarded as trade mission and based in commercial capitals not political capitals of those nations. Taiwan office in USA is in New York. Just as Nigeria sent them out of Abuja to lagos as a trade mission. |
