CyynthiaKiss:What you learned as history, I witnessed it as current affair |
Macnnoli4:Arab countries don’t give citizenship even if you live there for a century. You remain an expat. |
What is your definition of national burial? Who was supposed to be there that wasn’t there? Aikhomu as the No 2 citizen then led the federal delegation to the burial. Prior to that, Babangida and his wife led separate delegations to Ikenne. Public holiday was declared in the whole south west and the Parliament building in Ibadan was temporarily opened for his body to be received. At the liberty stadium Ibadan, his body was received by many military governors, military and police and public. If I recall well, his casket was carried on a gun carrier surrounded by soldiers. |
Pharaoh350s:The 650,000 bpd referred to in the report, is the input crude that is part of the raw material not the refined output. The only mistake the person you quoted made, is thinking that it will be in addition to our opec quota rather than part of it. Our opec quota can only increase if we increase the volume of our crude production not the consumption. |
helinues:By OPEC policy, output is output whether consumed locally or exported. The 0.65m bpd will form part of our opec quota. The only advantage there is that the market for that portion is somehow assured and if Dangote exports the refined products, it will be with value added. |
awelekiti:If religions are taken into account, why did you limit it to only Christianity and Islam? Are the adherents of other religions not entitled to constitutional rights and privileges? |
awelekiti:That is your interpretation (though uninformed). There is no requirement for rotation by religion in the application of federal character. The fact also remains that all the IGPs in the 8 years of Obasanjo were all yoruba. Simple |
awelekiti:Nitel was not privatized. It was liquidated. Its non-core assets were sold piecemeal in 2007 under Obasanjo and the proceeds used to settle the salary arrears of the staff. The Liquidator was Otunba Adekanola. In 2014, a Liquidator, Otunba Senbore was appointed to sell off the core assets. Natcom Consortium led by Mr Ayeni (a crony of Jonathan and former chairman of Skye Bank) won the bid and paid $252m (N49b that time). The proceeds was used to pay Nitel creditors. Since it was liquidation dividends, it only covered about 26% owed to each creditor and they have to forfeit the balance of money owed to them. Natcom used the licence of Mtel (the mobile subsidiary of Nitel) to establish and run Ntel (not nitel). Sequel to the crisis in Skye that led to his removal as the chairman, Ayeni has since handed over Ntel to Gen Danjuma. |
awelekiti:Obasanjo presidency 1999 - 2007, his IGPs in the 8 years were Musiliu Smith (1999 - 2002) [yoruba Muslim] Mustafa Adebayo Balogun (2002 - 2005) [yoruba Muslim] Sunday Ehindero (2005 - 2007). [yoruba Christian] Regarding the posting of the ministers, Buhari originally had 21 senior ministers and 15 junior ministers. Out of the 21 senior ministers, South West alone had 5 (only Ondo State is represented by a junior minister). So SW alone cornered a quarter of the senior ministers and juicy ones for that matter out of 6 geo-political zones. Note that Power, Works and Housing are even counted as one here. At the time of Adeosun resignation, only the minister of state for Niger delta from Ondo State was only yoruba junior minister that could have been elevated to senior post left by adeosun which would mean all yoruba ministers would be senior ministers when they are fairly entitled to between 3 and 4. |

thunder74:The money realized belong to the whole federation to be shared by federal, state and local governments. The budget you referred to, is federal budget alone. |
Won’t the nutrients (and possibly, the flavour) drain away with the water that I have to pour away? |
Ubiudumo:Really? Perhaps it was Buhari that asked Awolowo to warn shagari govt as far back as July 1981 that Nigeria was heading for economic crisis. It was Buhari that asked shagari govt to ignore Awolowo and even abused him calling him prophet of doom It was Buhari that caused the Nigerian economy to go into recession less than one year later that forced shagari govt to enact Economic Stabilization Act otherwise known as Austerity Measures in April 1982. It was him who introduced import licence in June 1982 to ration the very low foreign reserve. Buhari asked IMF to demand that naira be devalued in January 1983 with other conditionalities which shagari rejected and Buhari that came in a year later also rejected but had to be surreptitiously accepted by Babangida 3 years later under the guise of SAP and SFEM. |
jomoh:NNMA gives merit award to outstanding academics, usually one or two persons (mostly professors) per year. National Honours Committee make recommendation to the President on the award of national honours - those GCFR, MON, CON and the rest. I responded initially because you said NNMA gives award to rogues who have ruled Nigeria before |
But what did the Chief Judge that administered the oath read out since he must lead the person being sworn in line by line. |
jomoh:You confused NNMA with National Honours Committee which is under the office of the Secretary to Govt of the Federation. |
royal231: LuciferCatholic:The list contains their bases not their areas of origin. Mobile policemen are directly under the Commissioner for Mopol at the force headquarters not under states commands and are hardly based in their state of origin. |
Omnipresent:All religions are based on rites and rituals. |
wink2015:Iraqi Christians enjoyed more rights under Saddam. Nobody tried to annihilate them then unlike now. By the way, Christmas Day was work-free day for them under saddam. |
December 25th had always been an holiday for Iraqi Christians. What the government just did is to extend to all Iraqis regardless of religion. At the best of times, Christians consistute about 5% of the population (about 1.5m) now down to 0.3m Nigerians that are praising Iraqi government for doing this to minority will criticize their own government if it dare declare holiday for traditionalists. |
Hedonini:I am not the person you replied but I will like to know why then did South Africa seize our $9m at the airport? Afterall, Nigerian officials were just in possession of it at that point, they had not carried out any transaction. Why do various countries Customs require passengers to declare any sum above $10,000 or equivalent at airports? They should wait till I transacted with the money now? |
This story get k leg. How can the whole Banex complex be used as a mobile court for a government agency? AEPB in FCT is an equivalent of LAWMA in Lagos. Its duty is to evacuate thrash not to set up mobile courts. |
lsoul:You are right and wrong That is his house and the same that you are referring to. Yes, the grounds were paved with interlocking tiles initially but now changed to stamped floor now. Compare the pictures in https://www.nairaland.com/4387162/k1-wasiu-ayinde-marshals-mansion with the one by the OP. |
Last he budgeted N651b, what is the level of implementation now and how did he finance that humongous budget? |
Dshocker:The person that gave her “heavy night” |
Elnino4ladies:You mean she should move over to her dad’s Forte Oil ![]() |
obaataaokpaewu:In 2011, the presidential election held first and Buhari (CPC) won in Kano but lost nationally. This led to riots in some northern states like Bauchi and Kano. Many CPC supporters burned their voters cards in protest coupled with the fact that the CPC gubernatorial candidate was not the choice of the party members (Jafaru Isa was substituted for Mohammed Abacha), so the governorship election which was held later became a three horse race between Kwankwaso (PDP), Takai (of Shekarau’s ANPP) and Isa (of Buhari’s CPC). PDP won. Note that CPC did not also win any seat in the National Assembly election that held between the presidential and governorship elections in kano. |
Princeofnigeria:It is erroneous to think that google street view is real time view even in advanced countries which Peru is not among anyway. Satellite images like Google Earth are cool, but of course it is limited to images that are days, weeks or even year old. There are times that you would like to see realtime overhead imagery (e.g. who is that at the door?), but sadly that privilege is restricted to the NSA, CIA, MI6 and other top-notch security organizations. You can see a large collection of imagery in Google Earth, including satellite, aerial, 3D, and Street View images. Images are collected over time from providers and platforms. Images aren't in real time, so you won't see live changes. |
