There are world clocks online to guide you. Just Google the City and do the math in correlation to Nigeria time.

When I was very active in outbound, I usually set my send out emails between 8am-12pm Nigerian time.

Reason? So that my emails will be among the first set to be read when they resume duty, giving the time difference. For most part, we are 5 hours ahead of most US states and while some are 9 hours. So give or take, it is 5-9 hours difference.

For those of you complaining about not getting sales. The sad truth is that domaining is more capital intensive than they ever were in the past.

Lots of names that were allowed to drop previously are currently being back ordered and that goes for even your geo. This means while waiting for a geo domain to land on your lap, someone has back ordered it.

There were times I did over $2000 just by outbound but it will hard to replicate such in current dispensation. And I achieve that by regging a few, however you will need to register a lot of names to come close to that figure now, except you are lucky. The probability becomes a game of numbers, generally that is what domaining is though.

Then you have issue to fast internet users from more advanced countries who will register a name before you even though you saw it first by difference of few seconds.

The population of domainers have also increased.

So you have to evolve with the trend and think like a business man

One mystery man from nairaland paid $200 to back order a name and sold it for $1500 later.

I wouldn't advice you do same cos it could have gone the opposite direction and you end up with nothing with an apparent money hung to an unsold domain.

But that is what is expected of us... When the need arises. You risk it! I have risk money where I got nothing back in return lol. There was time, I did state this few pages back, I got names from close out and each cost me about 6k. I got 5 of those and all were looking like 4 will sell for $500 a pop but all of a sudden, everything went south. I think being a Nigerian contributed to it... And I was careless because I felt I had gained their trust.

I know not many of us can afford such but in the meantime, try to prepare ahead for it. Some of my 4 figure sales were aftermarket purchases and back order.

I have not left domaining o... It is my first love and will always be. The truth is the game has changed and we need to change along with it.

Sometimes you need to take a step back and reevaluate projections.

I think in this business, you have to think as a businessman first, when you buy a domain name, also ask yourself, if I was selling this name to myself (supposing I'm a ceo, in that line of business) why would I buy this name ?....Then 2. Set reasonable prices depending on the domain....na human being like you you dey sell to, ceo no be mumu or maga and your sales letter, the wordings should sell itself and be professional.
Well, though I take this biz as a side hustle, not really always there....but it has been good, tho I deal strictly on expired domains for now, I hope to expand soon......
have patience, focus on getting good domain names as e dey hot (if you know you know)....I do outbounds Mondays to Thursdays only (when chanced tho), I never do outbound for over half of my portfolio sef......me sef na newbie...less than 9 months in this biz.
That said..the week has been fair......sold 3 domains..... Theevergreenhome.com @$300 (inbound, bought $1) held for about 4 months, then two geos sold at $300 and $125 (outbound, bought $2 and $6.99 respectively, no ask me names)........all sold and concluded within the week.....there's no big secret inside....good domains expire everyday, train your eyes to see them, focus on quality, not quantity......and keep those fingers crossed.......ciao

Just a little tip for those of us finding it hard to invest more financially in domaining.

You can try brandables. SquadHelp has an option where you can suggest suitable names they can register and list on their site. Once approved, you will be entitled to about 25% (could be up to 30% atimes) of the proceeds whenever the domain sells.

Just know that approval of names is not easy on SH. You must research. And it is hard, but with almost zero financial input. More of time investment.

You can also participate in contests too. Hard still, but doable.

NB: Brandables is a long term project. Not as liquid as GEOS. So prepare your mind to wait long for a sale. It may happen overnight, but that would be an exception. Someone said it's a numbers game, and rightly so. The more good names you have, the greater your chances of making a sale.
