Peckham is paradise compared to any 'hood in the USA, dem no born any Nigerian to even dream of living there. Peckham is full of Nigerians but its safe, try any Ghetto in the USA and see. |

I still prefer uk than this filthy naija, at least i don't have to buy fuel for generator, and would not get my hear polluted to crazy generator noise anywhere else than this messed up country, no light no jerk, everything is costly and value of life is very low, basic human needs is ZERO so what are you comparing? most of everyone condemning Peckam, Old Kent among you Nigerians on here, would call for party if got UK visa. Its just superiority complex of certain nigerians who feel that being around other nigerians devalues their superiority. I personally do not like crowded neighbourhood cause i like open spaces . . .however that does not mean one should now classify somewhere as ghetto because its not open enough. Haba people should please get a life and stop debasing other nigerians . . . i would not be suprised if these same people living in Peckham are the same ones that own the most beautiful houses and properties in nigeria. Has any one bought a house in Peckham recently? Its way higher than many other boroughs in the UK. The rental value in that area is brilliant, so while you are all posting insults at Peckam, people are making serious money in the area by investing in properties and other businesses. |

I personally do not see a reason why someone should buy a car wen such a person would not need a car to go to work and make good money. Likewise, i see no reason why someone would want to buy buckingham palace wen such a person can easily afford and live in peckham and continue to make a lot of money by merely doing so. I think a lot of nigerians need to grow up and know that part of being a responsible adult is knowing how to make sensible financial and life decisions and not just about showing off and try to look bigger than they really are. A word is enough for the wise. . . |

Has any one bought a house in Peckham recently? Property prices in Peckham, London is getting better. Nigerians who own houses in Peckham and other parts of London are smiling. In fact, some of the houses you see in VGC, VI, Lekki, etc belong to some of the people who live happily in Peckham, London. |

@ blackspade honestly I don't know how you can be helping to propagate agendas by THE notorious racist BNP party by posting videos like this. There are areas like this similar in other countries where Africans buy up or occupy the cheap spaces and establish businesses. I don't know what is Ghetto about the place. Its a place where people live and survive. I don't see any one piting at places like Little havana or China town or the large areas occupied by British immigrants in rural spain or South Africa as an annex of their territory, I don't find this video funny at all!! |

There's no need to complain about all the bunch of stupid people here. I live near New Cross and I wish I could take a picture of my area, street and house (both exterior and interior). Without boasting, some of you guys talking rubbish here could ONLY dream of living in the kind of house and area. I lived in SW for over 8 years and was always complaining because I had to drive down to Peckham to shop for Nigerian food in bulk. Now it takes me less than 10 minutes to drive down to Peckham and I am definitely loving it. When friends come to my area and house for the first time, they are always amazed, to know that such type of houses are built around there. I am so sick and tired of all the stupid people on this Nairaland Forum. No wonder Nigerian leaders are taking the people for a ride. There are too many foolish people in nigeria and this forum. |

i'm not at all surprised that some people just come to this forum to run down Peckham. The truth is you have only been shown the high-street in Peckham. There are other areas in Peckham that are "posh", permit me to use the word. In all, the area is actually quite expensive to live in. Personally I live in Dulwich which is not too far from Peckham (10 mins drive) and i find Peckham quite handy. . . There are hair-stylist there and I get rare Nigerian food from there as well. Most people that come on here to say this or that about Peckham are the ones that live there, eat there and socialise there. So what if there are a lot of Nigerians there I don't see anything wrong to be honest. . . sorry |

I never saw the video in question but i'm sure its no way near as bad as some folks on here re making it. As a nigerian living in Liverpool a trip to london is always like a trip back to nigeria. Peckham especially makes me feel at home cos i cant think of any where else to buy ogi, iru and stuff like that. Liverpool is a big city in North West England and believe me i gats reach manchester to buy the most common of nigerian foodstuff or ingredient, d few african shops local to me will charge an arm n leg so it worksd out cheaper to travel to manchester or even peckham for my bulk shopping. For those that always seem to confuse london for england or the uk u need to think properly. I remember when i was in Nigeria i ll never go thru oshodi cos its places like that u call a slum. The video posted on here must have shown a part of rye lane or peckham high street which is mainly a market street not residential how else do u expect a market to look like and mind u its a market not supermarket. Peckam's rough and very multi cultural with a large nigerian populace even the asians selling on the market stalls speak a few yoruba words especially alaroro all of em sabi that 1. anyways Peckham is not nigerian infested but its a market that caters for our needs. And like some pple ve already pointed out there are lots of nice residential areas in the Peckham neighbourhood. If u feel u shouldnt travel to the UK because of a place called Peckham na u sabi ooo        |

Tstark: Damn, that place looks like Northeast DC, very very dirty. I agree to some extent on what people say; a lot of Nigerians tend to live in crowded dirty area, obviously high crime, rader alert , Well goodluck to people who live there. I'm not criticizing this place, but God knows that I won't even dream let alone actually living in such area. NE DC scares the living hell out of me even though I don't live any where close there, every time you turn on TV, there's one crime or another, people shooting one another. |
