I do not need Reno Omokri to validate the courageous of my tribe

Until Igbos come with fighting up to one quarter of the wars Yorubas have fought, discussion is off the table. If they like, they should continue calling Yoruba whatever they want. History will always acknowledge who the braves are and who the cowards are.

Some of the wars Yoruba fought include but not limited to

British-Ijebu war where Ijebu kingdom held the british to standstill until the british used marcenaries and maxim machine gun to defeat the Ijebus

Osogbo war where the invading fulani force meant their defeat in the hands of combined Yoruba forces

Egba-Dahomey war where Egba defeated Dahomey kingdom twice

Jalumi war that resulted in the defeat of Ilorin.

Kiriji war, a civil war between independent Yoruba kingdoms that lasted for 16 years

Ibadan-Ijaiye war

Owu war etc.

Also, it is in history that Yoruba invaded Ilorin, burnt down the palace and killed the emir in 1896. If Ilorin people decided they want Emir because of their Islamic belief, that doesn't make Ilorin less of a Yoruba town.

You forgot Ogun Adubi between Egba and British. The Egba women also confronted the British, Fela's mother told their rep in Abeokuta that they would kill the boy and send his manhood to his mother, the statement alone made the Oyinbo man to cringe with fear.

everybody know the real cowards are igbos. what they are doing is what is called deflection. its a mental disease in that what you see in yourself is what you project to others. its like how the men who cheat the most are the ones who are most suspicious of their wives because they are projecting their own infidelity on their wife. its a common psychological disorder. if you are a coward you tend to project that insecurity of yours on other people. CASE CLOSED. when it comes to bravery in naija i can objectively name 3 tribes that take the award for bravery in nigeria and that is yoruba, hausa and fulan . igbos are themost cowards which is why they always cry of being oppressed. have you ever heard warriors cry of oppression or begging to be released to form their own nation ? warriors dont cry and beg like igbos. warriors take what they want. warriors dont admit to being oppressed in their own country. thats cowardice. this whole cry for biafra is cowardice. either step up and take it violently or keep quiet. stop crying like a 2 year old girl WE WANT BAIFRA, YORUBA AND FULANI IS OPPRESSING US WAHHH WAHHH WAHHH

If this is what you could write about Fela, then you are one of the blind people Fela sang about in his track Big Blind Country. Fela dying of Aids doesn't take anything away from his legacy. One thing will surely kill a man. It can be Malaria, Heart attack, Tuberculosis, drowning, accident, Syphilis, meningitis, typhoid, Aids, Leprosy, diabetes, cancer etc.
Till the end of time, Fela will be remembered as someone that spoke out against Military brutality, Neo-colonialism, nepotism, corruption, hyper inflation, religion brainwashing, looting, favouritism, mental slavery etc. He sacrificed everything he had for his people's freedom. Guess what, nobody will remember you for a damn thing. You are as worthless as a used tissue paper.
Talking about Fela's mum death shows how low you are. But only if you are smart enough, you will know that Fela with hundreds matched to Dodan Barracks with his mum's coffin and dare the military head of state and his vice to come out to which they never did. But who am I to educate a nobody with lack of decency like you

A Yoruba man aka Black Scorpion beat your arse all the back into your villages and you surrendered your biafra rubbish to another Yoruba man aka OBJ while your rebel leader ran off the battlefield like a sissy coward and left your brothers and sisters for dead on the battlefield while he ran off to IC to fuckkk ashawo and enjoy good life while you suffer so who is the real coward?

The coward later begged and returned to Nigeria for his old Nigerian military rank and pension.

Even when the coward died, the same Nigerian flag and the symbol of the country he foolishly fought draped over his coffin straight into his grave.

Another clown and even a bigger coward is ready to lead you down the same destructive path.

Interesting read.

He's right. Like I've been saying since I joined NL: I've NEVER met a brave Igbo guy and I've a few Igbo friends. Yes, I do know a couple of aggressive ones who can chat shitt and later apologise when they can't hack it. But bravery and Igbos, based on my experience, are two parallel lines that should never meet. However, conversely, Yorubas and Edos who talk the talk always walk it. The Yorubas who can't walk it, most times will never talk it to your face.

Then again, Igbos naturally are funny people and I'd give them props for being the biggest propagandists in the world. Igbos have an uncanny ability where they use propaganda to create a narrative that will look like the truth after a while. The same people who created the narrative that Yorubas are cowards and fictitious Igbo bravery, are the ones who created the narrative that Igbos are naturally light skinned and they're the most beautiful/educated/gifted Nigerians. They are also the ones who created a narrative of Igbos being civilised in pre-colonial Nigeria, when the reality is that they were mostly slaves and savages living in the forest. You just have to give the Nigerian Jews props for copying the modern day fake Jews in Israel to a T when it comes to lies and propaganda. grin

The fact that most people of Nigerian descent who dominate contact sports like Boxing and MMA are Yorubas should tell you all you need to know. No coward would go into a boxing ring or the octagon. grin

Of course the Yorubas are very courageous like any other Nigerian tribe. They are not cowards. They have courageous people like Wole Soyinka ( Yoruba who went to jail for Biafra); Gen. Adekunle Fajuyi (who chose to die with Gen. Aguiyi Ironsi in the July 1966 coup, even though he could have walked out alive). And many more...

But Reno Omokri, praising one major Southern ethnic group while disparaging another is not a way to unite the South. You are a very intelligent man, but this your post looks like a counterproductive attempt at divide and rule. And uniting the South within Nigeria is now very urgent. Very very urgent.

Please Yorubas, Igbos, Niger Deltans, ignore the divisive bent of Reno's statement and throw aside your differences and work for unity. You need to use all your legal, human rights, online, peaceful organizing and boycott rights to prevent your territory from being collected for Grazing Reserves. stop quarrelling amongst yourselves. What an elder sees sitting down...

In 1999, Igbos betrayed ekwueme at the PDP primaries and voted Obasanjo at the elections.

In 2003, they betrayed ojukwu who contested under APGA and voted for Obasanjo of PDP.

In 2007, they once again betrayed Orji Uzor kalu of PPA and voted Yar'Adua of PDP.

In 2011, Igbos as usual voted Goatluck under PDP instead of Osita okechukwu.

In 2015, they voted gej again, but he lost.

The question shoud be "would Igbos vote an Igbo man as President or betray him as usual?"

When Ojukwu lost the Civil war, will millions of his people decimated, if he was a "brave Warrior", he would stand his ground and make his last stand. He wont allow himself to be captured and disgraced by federal Soldiers but he would rather, in a dignifed manner, "fall on his own sword".

Papa Reno Omokri, a child of watery Pentecostalism By Ugoji Egbujo

Reno Omokri is a Pentecostal pastor. He is the founder of a certain Mind of Christ Christian Centre. Keep that name in mind. He flaunts his knowledge of the Bible. He dispenses nuggets. He has written a book on Godly wisdom. And another, interestingly, on “short cut to God.” He has taught Jesus on television. He was once a spokesman for a country’s president. Yet, he is, obviously, a flippant man. He is, evidently, a political attack dog. He is, seemingly, incapable of sobriety. And apparently, he has no use for self-restraint.

But this is not about a 43 year-old Papa Reno Omokri. It is about the watery Pentecostalism that has birthed many of his kind. It is about a pattern of dissonance, a habitual lack of harmony between what is preached in words and what is preached in deed. It’s about Unclad hypocrisy that is rampant in our politics, that has seized the church by the scruff of the neck. It is about the lust for titles, and for oversized names of worship centers. It’s about shameless charlatanism. It isn’t just the empty spirituality that rankles. It is the obtrusiveness of it, that getting into people’s faces, that is unbearable. The 1970s Pentecostal Christians weren’t saints, but they were visibly different. Had Omokri met the Pentecostalism of the 70s, he could have been a more temperate man. Now, there is a Reno Omokri who clings to the reputation of a pastor but who engages in political diatribes like a motor park tout. When he likes, he masquerades as Wendell Simlin. When he is not dishing nuggets, he is splashing insults. The modern Pentecostal duplicity. Pastors ought to be conscious of the moral burden and expectations priesthood places on them. We know anger can detonate bombs. But how can anyone explain a pastor deliberately making a career out of being a political attack dog. Yes, pastors aren’t saints. But pastors are supposed to be seen striving, struggling, to be moral examples. They can’t relapse into chronic self indulgence, they can’t run brothels and they can’t live as pimps. They simply can’t be resident in sin. Where, in the chaotic soul of a political attack dog can the Holy Spirit find rest? Pentecostalism is now all talk, no action. Intemperate glib talkers are all pastors. Pastor Reno Omokri is the founder of Mind of Christ. So he is a papa too. But there is no link between the name of his church and many of his public utterances. Some other pastors are less dissembling. A pastor named his church “Now Now Miracle Centre.” Nigeria lives in the present, and everybody wants quick fixes. The pastor, with an eye on earthly acquisitions, preaches materialism in the name of prosperity. It makes sense, there is congruity. An irascible attack dog can shepherd anything but not a ‘Mind of Christ Centre.’ He should have cobbled something with—fire, spirit and sword, something menacing. He is perhaps no different from a garrulous friend of mine. A very miserly man, who loves and brandishes the title ‘Ochiriozua.’ By that title he lays claim to exceptional philanthropy-he pretends to be he, who feeds and trains his community. Like Reno Omokri, who preaches generosity of the spirit and practices political bitterness, my friend is only renown for theoretical philanthropy. This new watery Pentecostalism is not built on the fear of God. It lets ‘Area boys’(urchins) who haven’t completed drug rehabilitation programmes become pastors. Those capable of sobriety are reluctant to be ordained. Yes, they are fainthearted. But they are honest. The burdens and the expectations of genuine priesthood are scary. Charlatans make an easy leap for the title and fame, for recognition, for status. They don’t need attitudinal changes, they can just put on the mask. Then with jollity, throw themselves forward as worthy of communal respect. Their courage comes from knowing, from the outset, that they won’t have to live their sermons, and nuggets. Many Nigerians have regrettably kept away from politics for similar reasons. What has Christ to do with acrimony and vindictiveness? Christ’s mind can’t look at a sick old man and mock him. It cannot sit with fools and churn out conspiracy theories. Christ’s mind has no room for the ‘yab me, I yab you’ mentality Reno Omokri has patented in Nigeria. Yet Omokri is not a truck pusher in Ochanja market , he is not an Obalende danfo driver. He is a Pentecostal pastor. Pentecostal Christians have been at the forefront of Christian evangelism in Nigeria in the last 40 years. They have been aggressive. But what they have succeeded in spreading, of late, is a form of flaky Christianity. A Christianity remarkable for being extravagant and superficial. They like to preach on T.V and in buses. They like to build big churches with loud microphones and musical equipment. What they don’t do, is preach with their lives. When they serve in public offices, their works don’t recommend Jesus. They lead double lives. One rolls on the floor in churches. And the other takes over in the office shaming Christ, propagating evil. Reno Omokri is the founder of Mind of Christ Centre, but you can catch him yelling publicly at a minister “your mother! It’s possible. He once looked at Rotimi Amaechi and called him” a pot bellied mad man.” He fights for President Jonathan. President Jonathan is not a pastor, but he has never been uncouth in public. I can’t understand this perpetual wallowing in, and splashing of, mud by any pastor. Nominal Christians experience bouts of sobriety in between sinfulness. They come back to their senses, call victims and apologize, make confessions and seek forgiveness. Pastor Omokri can quarrel, everyday, for 365 days. Omokri is a manifestation of faulty Pentecostalism. “You are a waste, you should be thrown away by Lagos Waste Management Authority,” he once told Gov Amaechi. He publicly referred to Rev Fr Mbaka and Pastor Bakare as blooming hypocrites. They disagreed with him on Buhari and Jonathan. He has uttered childish insults like: “You are as useless as ‘P’ in psychology.” He has never tendered any public apologies. I tried to imagine some of these vileness dropping from Pastor Adeboye’s lips and I was struck by vertigo. Modern Pentecostal pastors always look too well fed. But from their fruits, you know that many are spiritual malnourished. Pastor Omokri bakes nuggets. Yet he exhibits all the signs and symptoms of spiritual malnutrition. Perhaps he needs nuggets of humility from Femi Adesina. Adesina is a presidential spokesman. He is not a pastor. But he carries himself with the dignity of a bishop. He needs nuggets from Prof Osinbajo. Osinbajo is a pastor and comports himself like a cardinal.

Who is this?

The guy you responded to said Awo committed suicide. Your response with harakiri is misplaced.

Awo did not commit suicide, he had an open casket funeral. Victims of suicide are never given open casket funeral. Awo was presented in a glass see through and the view was fully multi dimensional, and the glass casket was not closed to public view at all.

So your response on the maater came very short and actually supported the position of that yanminri you were quoting.

Ask the yanminri how ojukwu funeral was held, and if the casket was opened and the public allowed to see him or not. Why was Ojukwu casket sealed?

Ha ha. What we've heard has been Ojukwu's criticism of Adebayo's "conduct". Meanwhile this Ojukwu the critic who was already safely ensconced in the South East STILL decided to relocate and hide away in a perceived more secure location elsewhere in the South East. Yet he "encouraged" the perceived "dummy" Adebayo to continue sticking his neck out and wait for Madam Guillotine's blade; even as the said Adebayo's subordinates were disregarding his orders and there was complete breakdown in the Chain of Command. Who be mugu?

Answer me. Why are almost all yoruba towns founded by fleeing kings, war lords or princes who RAN AWAY OR FLED from Ile Ife? Is that bravery too? Ojukwu learnt and borrowed that from the yorubas while at studying at Kings College. Remember also that Ojukwu was not a fighter, he was more of a symbol of Biafra. We will not commit the symbol of our struggle to blood thirsty soldiers. Their disappointment at not getting him led to the last massacre of mainly innocent women, sick children and old men by Adekunle and his army even after Biafran capitulation. The fighting igbo heroes and heroines like Onwuatuegwu, Achuzia, Mama Adaku stayed and fought to the end, many killed in cold blood. They are our parents, brothers and uncles if you don't know.

It will be unimaginable what will happen throughout Nigeria if an Igbo won a free and fair presidential election in Nigeria, only for an hausa man to nullify it. But that was exactly what happened to then most popular yoruba leader. Before our very eyes Moshood Abiola worn election to be president of Nigeria, Babangida nullified the election and threatened to lock him up if he protested. Babangida proceeded, effortlessly, to connive with another yoruba man by the name Ernest Shonekan to be a replacement stooge, and hold presidency for the hausas. Before our very eyes, under cover of darkness, for fear of Babangida, Abiola absconded from Nigeria. Large crowd of yorubas came out in the street to protest the June 12 election nullification for a few days. Babangida gave instructions, and Shonekan sent a small number of soldiers to disperse the yoruba crowd. And that was the end of yorubas' June 12 presidential victory.

Lest we forget, Babangida only allowed Shonekan, the yoruba leader, to sit in Aso rock barely three months before sending his fellow hausa man, Abacha, to take over. Abacha only had to make a direct phone call during which he ordered Shonekan to announce his resignation, and leave Aso rock within two hours. Shonekan cowardly obeyed. Yoruba's acts of cowardice are legendary, and will sicken any intelligent observer.

Oh! By the way, Abacha's brothers tricked Abiola to come back from his hiding place in London to take over the presidency. Abiola took the bait, flew into Abuja, and was arrested promptly, imprisoned, and murdered by the hausas.

Let the truth be told. Facts on the ground since Nigeria's Independence have shown the yorubas as slaves, and willing tools of the hausa/fulanis. Igbos are spread to all parts of the world, and are well known by their host countries to be intelligent, hardworking, successful, and BRAVE
