The head on which coconut is broken never eats from that coconut.

3 Million lives never do. It's 50 years later and another set of millions must fall again.

For those who say that Ojukwu escaped with his family leaving all others, I ask you.

What would have been gained by Ojukwu staying back to be slaughtered when the war had virtually ended?

Absolutely nothing would have been gained. 'They' will ignore that though as it doesn't fit their narrative.

As for Ojukwu, may his soul rest in peace. The man did something that not many Igbo leaders are willing to do in this day and age, even if he was a bit naïve at times.

He and Gowon could and should have handled things differently... the Biafra war had no winners.

So, this man even absconded with his own children while leaving other poor children behind to die of starvation. No wonder he was rejected in subsequent elections by the same people he led to the slaughter slab.

This is exactly what the mad man Kanu is attempting again with his hate speech and call to harm. Hopefully, Igbos with superior reasoning will prevent him from visiting calamity on the current generation of IPODs and innocent souls there.

Thank you for that advise.

After he sacrificedillions of ibos and their children he ran away. He left other children looking hungry and malnourished and ran away to take care of his family in faraway ivory coast. Yet ibos don't see him as a coward. Brainwashed people

You are a he-goat...I'm igbo and I don't regard ojukwu as a great person, all he did was for his personal interest..you don't have to insult a whole tribe cus you are trying to make a silly point

He fought for our independence for 3 years against unbelivable odds. That alone means much more to Igbos than anyrhing else. Staying back to die at the end of the war is something that Nigerians wished on him, but not his people.
he made millions of innocent of your people to be killed for nothing, abandoned them and ran away, which kind hero be dat? Abeg make we hear word Jo. When you talk of hero, Mandela comes to mind

You say this but just think of how many people from across the country have died for 'Nigerian unity', and by that I mean 'keeping Nigeria as corrupt and immoral as possible so that the elite can steal (literally and figuratively speaking) food from the mouths of the poor'. It would probably exceed the number of people who died in the Biafran war. Deaths from inadequate healthcare alone should be in the millions by now.

Haven't your leaders sacrificed you and your people in this way?

Had ojukwu stayed and fought till the end and died in war ,he would have died a martyr and people would have seen him as a true hero and it would have fuelled a greater desire for biafra . If not for nnamdi kanu, the desire for biafra died in 1970. Another issue is the nature of his escape . Try and read Philip effiongs account of this. Finally, he really shouldn't have contested to be president of Nigeria. All in all , Thanks to nnamdi for reviving the movement . I'm yoruba but I can say without prejudice that the igbos are marginalized for the simple reason that an igbo man or woman will never ever be president of Nigeria while we have 19 northern states. The best bet is for an igbo man or woman to be vp then the yaradua situation happens. That's why I now support biafra for the igbos. However, ojukwu wasn't a hero or icon.

As a general, he should have stayed back. It's like seeing a ship captain abandon his ship. In Japan, Samurais and war Generals would perform a feat called Seppuku, a form of Japanese ritual suicide by disembowelment. The Seppuku takes place when a Samurai or a General fails and while Ojukwu was never Japanese, fleeing was the height of cowardice after sacrificing two million potential young lives while he took his children with him to Abidjan.

At the end of the day, the near three million deaths were for nothing because the same man responsible for their deaths returned to the country a Nigerian and even contested for the Presidency. Calling Ojukwu a coward is an insult to true cowards.

They will never learn. I don't know how some people can be so stupidly heartless and wicked. Because you have no hope of making it in life, you want to intentionally create trouble and push millions of your tribesmen in misery so that all the successful ones can go back to square one like you. You can try as much as you can to taint the image of Ojukwu but truth be said, Ojukwu is gonebut his legacy is still alive!

There was a reason he started this agitation, long after he is gone, the agitation has also resurrected shocked shocked shocked

Why

Because these generation has also seen what Ojukwu saw shocked shocked shocked

Only a paid AGENT or anyone that has no truth in him or her with not reason with the Igbos undecided

Their story reminds me of the Israelites and the Egyptians. While the Israelites were doing hard Labour, the Egyptians were enjoying their labour. It wasn't enough, fear due to the increase in the population made the Egyptians slaughter them undecided

Today, the South South are the ones with the oil but inadequate environment/ poor people everywhere you go, while thr Norths are the ones with tge OIL Blocks!

it wasn't enough, the fulani herdmen, religious fanatics are toying with their lives while they complain, the president is silent undecided

If you are in your normal senses do you expect them to keep quiet too

History is about to repeat itself again undecided
Only that this time the :

Israelites are the South and those who see the truth for what it is!

Egyptians are the North/paid agents

Buhari is the Pharaoh

Osinbanjo is the messenger of Pharaoh (Buhari)

and The Moses is Nnamdi Kanu

We all knew what happened to Pharoah and his likes!

Let's watch how it unfolds again in this history that is about to be repeated!...
