@ MzDarkSkin. Girl, I love you from the bottom of my heart. Your long essay is worth reading a hundred times over. You have just hit the nail on the head. This is not fact, but I always say that Jamaicans are of Nigerian descent, based on certain similarities I see in the two. I never knew this stereotype against Jamaica by "ignant" Nigerians existed, until I came on Nairaland. My uncle is married to a Jamaican woman, and she doesn't fit into any stupid category some "ignant" Nlers put them in. I salut you for your boldness and bluntness, because it is pure truth. It is bitter Ooo, but must be told. With Regards, From a proud Nigerian Female P.s. Abeg O, no one should think I'm gay. |

N101: There's nothing wrong with your comment, I just want to use your illustration to highlight one of my pet-peeves. Even if someone has an "accent", is it our native language? How is it that to America or wherever, everyone else have an accent? Aren't Americans supposed to talk like Brits? I am doing everything possible not to lose my accent. If you don't understand what I'm saying Come and beat me now. |
Re: My View: Nigerian vs Carribbean Women by FARAMADE(m): 9:28pm On Feb 23, 2010 |
Hmmm, I really do understand why you are so upset but wonder if you knew that Nigerians attack other Nigerians on this forum everyday, to think that Nigerian men prefer you to Nigerian women is funny, I have friends married to or dating Jamaicans but it is not because they don't like Nigerian women it is more because they married or are dating the person they fell in love with. I worked with Jamaicans before and not all of them were good to me some even went as far as asking me if it is true that Africans live on trees but I don't let this bother me and also do not assume all Jamaicans are like that, as a matter of fact many are not like that. On a final note if someone have been telling he loves you better than Nigerian women you must really becareful as the guy is telling you what he thinks you love to hear to get you in bed. If you want to prove me wrong, ask him to marry you and see if he will ever step in your house again. A man that is truly in love with you will not say he loves you better than someone else, what if he met a different national tomorrow and just decided that he love those nationals than Jamaican so he is off with them. Final question, how many Nigerian men have you dated? They all can't possibly be telling you the same thing unless they are friends and found out that that is the key to your inner city. And to the Nigerian women in the house, you have really made me proud, upon all what you have said on this same forum about Nigerian men you can still fight over Nigerian men, I love this |

@poster and my fellow NL's Defensiveness and opinion should not be confused with facts and figures. @poster raised a topic based on her judgement and perhaps what she's been told, some of y'all still agree with her without critiquing some of her assumptions. I am not however going to disagree with some of the points raised, but would love to set the record straight. While most of us on NL are well educated and insightful, only few have chosen to be stereotype. The Nigerian/Jamaican myth and propaganda will continue as long as ignorance and misinformation lives. Although half of the women in UK jail are Jamaicans (BBC news); drug related offences, their Nigerian counterpart are in 'jail' without fences. While most Jamaican men de-taste Nigerians (God knows what for), their women tend to socialise and mingle more. What's the beef then? In 1662 when England had fully taken control of Jamaica, all children born of English subjects were automatically called 'free citizen of England'. Until the 8th of January 2003, Jamaicans were entitled to enter the UK without Visa and without any restrictions. The restriction imposed on them was mainly because of many African countries seeking greener pasture in the UK (Nigerians accounted for over half of the immigrants). na there the story begin my people, The 21st Century, Aside from Nigerians, other nations see Jamaicans as been synonymous to drugs and ganja. Over 70% of Jamaican children have single parents. 20% of Jamaicans are educated compared to Nigerian 60%. Nigerian women are synonymous to hard-work while their men are synonymous to fraud. Jamaican women are lazy and often rely on benefits, Nigerian women are the most lousiest in the world. In conclusion, Nigerian and Jamaican women are hard knot to crack. You have as a neighbour, then you're done for. Jamaicans have good heart and sincerity that goes with them (apart from the ganja smoke that wakes you up every now and then), their Nigerian counterpart won't just stop shouting on the phone. Above all, we're the-same and should therefore start tolerating one another. We'all our brother's keeper and should be such in our daily dealings with one another. We have allowed the western ideologies and propaganda to separate us for far too long. There's no black Jamaican, black Nigerian, Ghanian, Mexican, Brazilian etc, we're all black race. |

Re: My View: Nigerian vs Carribbean Women by N101: 10:07pm On Feb 23, 2010 |
cultey: We're not talking about "native language", we're talking specifically about someone's accent. My point is my friend's born-and-bred Jamaican nephew found it patronising and annoying when English people said he didn't sound Jamaican at all because he didn't speak in a strong "just off the boat" accent. I don't care how Americans or anyone else speaks, my accent is an inherent part of me, just as everyone else's is to them. But to judge someone because they don't fit into some vocal stereotype is the highest form of ignorance. Sorry I can't make your day by issuing you with the beating you've requested |

crown22: My brother cool temper. Do not forget that even inside Nigeria, the fight continues. People just look for reasons to desparage others even when they live in glass houses. This is ignorance and jealousy. If a white sees me with a gorgeous straightlegged white girl, he would wish his eyes turn to a bullet esp when he is so timid to approach such a gain. When he gets the chance, he tells all white girls that black guys are only known violence and crime etc. It is jealousy both ways. But is uncalled for. Now my sweetheart madlady is Jamo, I no send She will cook me lamb leg and scrotum with vegie You wan try? |

I'm glad you realize that the poster is a ranting hypocrite. Imagine she warded Nigerians off villifying and casting aspersions at her Jamaican/African-American folks, then went ahead to crucify and berate Nigerians, specifically Nigerian women. Rubbish. |
