Concerning the weather, it's cold all year round. The sun is lazy, rises late and sets early. I'm not sure you'll get a jacket thick enough for the cold in Nigeria, I'll advice you buy here, a good jacket costs between €50-€70 ( if you don't care about designer). In my opinion, food is relatively cheap, at least the normal stuffs like rice, potatoes and stew stuffs, you'll get good prices at Lidl and Tesco (yam is a no go area, I would not advice you bring from nigeria due to the weight though)Chicken is the cheapest protein and in abundance. Pack lots of indomie when coming, it's expensive here. If you don't know how to cook, go and start learning. Eating out is a bad idea for saving, especially in Dublin. And yes DBS is a good school. I like the fact that they understand students need free time to work and have structured classes to allow for that. All the best in your application, we hope to hear good news from you soon. Cheers. Average wait time for study visa is 8 weeks,I waited 13 weeks for mine. Check the Irish embassy site for the average wait time for a tourist visa. I'd suggest you wait for the decision though. From my experience, if they wanted to deny you they would have..... you've waited this long already, stay positive. Donmakss6549: |

It hardly snow in Ireland But the weather is really cold, bad cold because the cold weather comes with rains and craze wind, making it a combination of one bad weather. Dublin is really expensive and one of the most expensive city in Europe now. Pls make sure to bring a lot of Nigeria raw foods with you because its expensive here. There are jobs but houses are expensive Chiggsglover: 3 Likes |

You will need a good warm jacket Not like Nigeria jacket You will need both sweater and jacket together you can get it at parmark for as low is €30 if they are on sales Your house will always be warm during cold time unless you don’t pay electricity bills Chiggsglover: 1 Like |

Femi0078:Lol All this agents, always talking bullsh**t, and giving fake information. You don't get any critical skill work permit automatically in Ireland, you will have to find a job, then the job will have to sponsor you. Which is subject to critical skills list and other requirements. If the critical skill application is successful, you will be given a stamp 1, which you will renew every year for 2 years, that is you'll have the stamp 1 for 2 years, then after that you may be qualified for a stamp 4, which can be classified as permanent residency. If you don't qualify for a critical skill permit, there is a general work permit, and if that is granted, you'll be on stamp 1 for 5 years, it will also be renewed on a yearly basis subject to other conditions and requirements. After holding a stamp 1 General work permit for 5 years, you may be eligible for a stamp 4. Then generally graduates in a masters degree get a stamp 1G for 2 years, firstly for 1 year then subject to other conditions, it will be renewed for another year. After that if you have not secured a stamp 1, 4 or any new immigration permit, you may have to leave the Country. Stamp 1G does not count as reckonable residency, so 2 years spent on stamp 1G is as good as NOTHING in terms of permanent residency or citizenship.. On the other hand, stamp 1 from a critical skill permit or general work permit, counts towards your reckonable residence for citizenship. I don't mean to be rude, but people should do basic Google searches to double check any information someone gives them especially information from agents who want to sell their market Good luck mate!! 6 Likes |

Chiggsglover: We have called and called and called more than 30 times, they kept saying they will notify us once there is a decision. My wife's own has been issued about nearly 2 months ago and she has traveled. My anger is we have an 11 month old baby who is here without the mother for 2 months now. At a time the last email they replied was on October 3rd 2019. The last call to the Embassy last two weeks, they said they had some changes in personnel and processes but that someone has been assigned to look into our case. Even somewhere in September, they said my first son who is 5years plus and VFS didnt capture his biometrics should be brought to Abuja for biometrics. We brought him to Abuja, yet the VFS couldnt capture him as their system was programmed to capture 6years upwards. We had to contact the Irish consular while still there at VFS and they told us to go back to our base that they will make an exemption for my son while they will come back to reprogram VFS system. The last person we spoke with whom I guess is a Nigerian working at the Abuja Embassy, told us to exercise a little patience as he wouldn't want the oyibo in charge of our application to feel he is being pressured which may affect the decision. That's where we are stuck. We don't know what they are waiting for and how long they will wait for it. They didn't ask for any further documents or clarification. It's 16 weeks now 1 Like |

I think the embassy has some backlogs to deal with. I submitted on 14th at vfs Abuja and there hasn't been any update yet. Anyways, I'll drop my visa approval testimony very soon (2 weeks maybe) 2 Likes |
