I need help beautiful people. I have been in the UK for almost 6 months now and I have been trying to get a job without success. Initially I wanted a job in accounting field which I studied in school but at this point, I just want to earn income and create value. I have three years of banking operations and very little accounting experience as I barely worked 3 months in a finance company back in Nigeria.
I have attended several interviews too but always get the regret mail which honestly speaking is really depressing. What kind of jobs can you recommend that l look for now and where or how do I apply. I don't want to remain idle in this last month of the year please. I am on a tier 2 dependent visa.

Aphrodite007 Lexusgs430 fatima04 justwise and every other person. Thanks in advance.

In addition to all what have been said....go on to indeed.com, hays, reed. Search for jobs like Accounts payable specialist, Account assistant, Account Officer or any of the variation.

Review the requirements posted under each job advert one after the other and google how to do each one of them; Do that continuously for few weeks. You will get the drift and would start to make sense to you.
Go to youtube and search for what it entails to perform each role, what accounting package you need to know such as SAP, Oracle, Sage etc

Do that everyday like your life depends on it; when you jam interviews again, you would know what to talk about.

In addition to all the advise provided, make sure your LinkedIn profile is very attractive and contains the buzz word for accounting professionals and also enable the job search option for recruiters to find you.

Go on your local council website to search for some trainee jobs. Also, lots of construction companies recruit account assistant et al. Check banks website as well to apply for some customer service roles if you haven't done this already.

Also enable google search for accounting jobs near me, it will send you regular updates.

Hey, Guys
I’m traveling to Naija for Christmas and I’II be making a stopover in London & Abu Dhabi respectively.
I’II be spending two days in London & Three days in Abu Dhabi.
My very first time of visiting London.
I’II be staying at the Renaissance London Heathrow Hotel very close to the Heathrow Airport.

My Questions are:

(A) What are the most exciting places to visit for a first timer in London?

(B) If you only had 48 hours to spend in London where would you visit first?

(C) Should I exchange some Dollars to Pounds at my Local Bank of America OR would I get a better
exchange rate at the foreign currency exchange kiosks at the Airport?

(D) Does riding the London Tube seem complicated?
I would also need a bit of advice regarding riding the Tube as I wouldn’t love to get lost.
For comparison I have lived in New York City & New Jersey and have used the Subway extensively.

Well for touring London, you can go three ways

1. If you have a friend staying in London, you can have your friend show you round

OR

2. Use a tour bus for a fee like the mega bus tour
https://uk.megabus.com/products/london-bus-tour?gclid=Cj0KCQiAw4jvBRCJARIsAHYewPOzDoek9jy3Q80au_lcZCNH88RP098fDvbCgtss9c3qLMBAPC7phxcaAuL0EALw_wcB

OR

3. Go on a tour yourself using this guide
https://secretldn.com/sightseeing-london-map-walking-route/

well using the tube is pretty straightforward if you pay attention to details as route maps are always in the trains and stops are announced...London folks are friendly so if you ask questions you will never stray far

I dont know much about currency exchange but it is always good to have some pounds with you before you get to exchange...just in case

Dress warm and hop on the underground....... Head out after 0930 and travelling would be slightly cheaper......

Loads of places to visit, just get a tourist map at the hotel or Google London tourist maps.....

Exchange in the states, once you carry you $ come, you're trapped to offered rates.......

Aw my dear, the fact that you even got to interview level says that you have a powerful CV, that’s really good, so please be proud of yourself.

It’s two reasons that you don’t go past that level: 1) someone else is probably better (2) your confidence/composure/communication level or answers are not so great- which is a good thing because this can be fixed, but the former cannot!

See, when you go to interviews, act like you own the world. Act like you’re doing them a favour to be in your presence, because guess what? You are. The reason you got to interview level is because you’re hot cake, so relish in that.

What I’ve learned in this country is that they despise humility, they like confident people. So act confident. Even if you don’t know the answer, make it up. Sit relaxed and look them in the eyes when you speak. Smile and make small jokes.

Accounting and banking are great fields to get into. They are money mines but you need to be patient and be ready to earn little then shine from there. When I came here I started from 21k, now I can’t even mention what I earn after just 2 years. The best way to start is small, that way you’ll build confidence in yourself because you’ll start learning to sell yourself well and ace-ing interviews.

My advice: go to YouTube and watch how to become and accountant or banker in UK and apply the advice.
You’ll hear what you need to know or learn, then study those skills. But get ready to start from the bottom- I promise you, it will pay off.

I really hope this helps, pls keep me posted. I’m always excited to hear about people winning.

That was why I wrote Rebecca Long-Bailey of Labour (not Corbyn).

Whereas Labour says it plans to give EU citizens preferential treatment, Conservatives say they plan to have an Australian-style immigration policy. Where you are given leave based on what you can offer, not what geographical location you were ‘lucky’ to be born into.

Labour policy in this aspect is shit.
Conservative policy in this aspect is bae.

From Rebeca Long-Bailey, in the Leaders Debate, Labour was categorical (unless Rebecca Long-Bailey has ported to a different party like our own Chuka Umunna).
Whereas you may have historical data, the current labour position, going into 12/12 is for free Movement (if EU citizens).
Conservatives position: Movement of citizens irrespective of their country of origin. #AustralianStyle.

If indeed you have quoted Labour as previously pro-migration (historically), then you are probably right. Except that you seem to be talking about pre-Jeremy Corbyn Labour. You seem to be talking about the previous Labour which was natural home to Jews in the UK.

Don’t be deceived, Corbyn’s Labour is not the historical labour you once knew.

Those places that require entry fees are Madame Tussauds, tour bus guide, some scary dungeon place close to London bridge, London eye, the shard building etc Hope you have a lovely trip Good luck.

No offence intended, but this is an example of why politicians get away with lies and propaganda, as most people just believe what they hear without doing any research.

The UK already has a points-based "Australian-style" immigration system!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Points-based_immigration_system_(United_Kingdom)

The only thing that might change after Brexit is that this will also apply to EU citizens... but nobody knows yet!

It's your right to vote however you want, but at least just put in small effort to not be someone's maga.

The problem with this article is that while it has some merit that UK did have a point base system but stating it is currently in place and citing Tier 2 as an example is just a wash .......Tier 2 is a not a true point based immigration system, neither are those visa listed there in wiki . They might be point based in NAME but the"yeah right" type cheesy

However yes UK is not new to point based immigration system. I am a product of HSMP and that was a proper point based immigration system. The concept is just a recycled idea that the conservatives are trying to sell using buzz words but for me its a big yes to bringing it back , it was fair and opened to everyone , didn't tie you to an employer(most impt) and it was used by my people as a pathway as i know severallllllllllll.

Yours is an example of how people share we links that don’t actually relate to the issue at hand. I’m context.

I just read that article, not once but twice.
Are you saying the UK currently operates and Australian style point based migration? Please tell me where and how.

Thank goodness you acknowledged that it might apply to EU citizens.
That means no free entry and exit right? That means a Nigerien and a Nigerian and a Zimbabwean would each have the same chances of work in the UK just like a French, Polish or Lithuanian or Luxembourg citizen right?

Well, you know that at the moment that is not the case.

I can't help but highlight this glaring irony - that an immigrant supports a party with policies against immigration, and is willing to vote for such a party to curb immigration. This is an irony I have never been able to understand whenever I see it. The fact is that regardless of however Brexit pans out, immigration from Europe will always be prioritized by all political parties over and beyond immigration from outside Europe.

Plus, there is an element of reciprocity as well. If the British implement a points based system to include EU immigrants, the EU will implement same for Britons as well. I cannot see that happening.
