As we all know, many people believe the children of pastors are mostly wayward.
I for example, I'm a female and my dad is a pastor in Deeper life Bible Church and trust me I've been looking for ways to leave the church. My dad isn't even helping matters, he has serious temper issues that makes him say things that gets me, my mum and siblings angry. I really do not see myself getting married in his church. Please tell me if I'm doing the right thing. Because i feel we all have our lives to live.
I need your advice because I'm already fed up of my dad's attitude and the church's doctrines.

You not doing the wrong thing my dear. I've left deeper life a long time ago.

My dad is even yet to know. In his mind, I went to church today oo.

Like someone said, you made the decision to leave so late. Should have been done while on campus.

But nevertheless, Since you're living in his house, sit him down and have and gentle talk with him. Give him reasons why you want to leave his church, if he doesn't agree, free him.
Anytime you leave his house, dump the church.

Most deeper life peeps feel if you're leaving their church, you're already on your way to hell.

A dependent child should not think of rebellion, it won't end well.
When you can cater for yourself, then you can decide to do whatever you want, you may even stop
going to church no one will question you.

Do not make the mistake of "doing things for ur dad's sake". Everybody have their life to live. He's ur dad, fine. He's taught u about way of life with ur mum, no doubt but now that u've come off age, NOBODY, I repeat, NOBODY has the right to tell you how you want to live your life. The ONLY advice I can give is live it good.

Hello dear. I was in same situation like u sometime ago. Although I'm a guy my rebellion paved way for my other siblings. My dad us a co-ordinator in DL. But I started my rebellion at a young age and I sticked to it even though most times i felt I was do I g the wrong thing. But these days when I go to my parents house I don't even go to church. And they don't even shout anymore. Now dey are pleading. All I'm going to say to u as some one who know what u are goiny through because my dad was a co-ordinator in DL even before I was born is to stand up for yourself And stick to it. There will be consequences but the worst one will be the emotional guilt. They are very good at it. Move out if possible because I my self won't encourage u attending a different church under your father's roof. Then start living your life because heaven is an individual race.

Same experience here. Got tired of the monotony of the church and just decided while in the mass that I wasn't ever going to continue this charade because of my parents. Got home and bought a strong decode to follow TB Joshua services, back then..... Problem was that while his choir were very good and ministered to me, he wasn't really a teacher and I wanted somebody to teach me about getting God and not just show me his power in the form of miracles.

I got bored until an old woman invited me to my present church and to be frank, the first day I entered the church could be described as the first time I ever listened to a life transforming message, from any altar.

My parents, particularly my dad was aghast but man, it is my life and I told them in a meeting that I don't like wasting my time and going with them to mass is like a waste of time because nothing stirs me during the service.

Today I read the Bible without any encouragement from anybody

SAMBARRY:
IF YOU don't feel fulfilled in the church where you ARE BUT you're going there to please your parents, you're wasting your time

My parents aren't pastors but I left the church.my pastor noticed and asked my parents and they told him sambarry now attends xyz church, pastor requested I see him so just to honor my parents,I went to see him.he started using emotional manipulation, guilt tripping and a little bit of emotional abuse.of course I could see his anger clearly which also pissed me off the more

Like why should you say because I attended a church since I was 8,gives you the entitlement mentality to think you own me?what further put me off was he criticizing the new church I attend and explaining why his church is better of.How superstitious and ignorant my church is and all thinking that will deter ME

He then gave an analogy of if you have a child you've groomed and nurtured since she was 8 and then she's grown and says she's leaving you and don't want anything to do with you,how will you feel?
Straight up I told him,I'm the CEO of my life,my life my rules.have a nice day sir and walked away immediately

First of all if you don't like your parents church, emancipate yourself from your parents.make them realise you're old enough to make your decisions and stand by the consequences

The first day as an older teenager back then THAT I told my parents I'm not following them to church,THEY thought it was a joke.when they were all dressed and I was STILL in my pyjamas at 9AM, and I carried a straight face insisting I AM not going,THEY realized I was serious.when my dad wanted to start getting confrontational I told him,the only thing that Will move me out of this house to church is physical force and I'm ready.moreover the worst you can say is for me to leave your house which I will gladly do

Omo the next Sunday, they were like sambarry we're already going to church o,help us close the gate.

The thing with African parents is that if you don't start enforcing what you want and how you should be treated,THEY will STILL be making decisions for you that YOU should be able to make for yourself without giving a damn about how you feel.if you don't want to go,tell him,he cannot drag YOU

I'll give another example. There's this friend of mine who the dad was similar to yourself, she owns a beer parlor now.the father forced her to church and she has always been orchestrating how she will leave, she just needed that one opportunity so whilst she was delivering her lines on the pulpit (she's a lead chorister, the dad snatched the microphone from HER and was yelling at her in public in the presence of the church on why she's wearing lip gloss and still has the audacity to sing.BABE,guess what my friend did.she immediately pulled off her deeper life turban, flung it on the pulpit and walked out from the church to go lodge in a hotel till she cooled off and got an apartment for herself.the beef between her and the dad was serious to the extent that she initially didn't want to invite the dad to her wedding if not for THE intervention of the mother.if you see how chic she looks in her makeup and dress untypical of a deeper you will marvel

One thing I hate about today's Christianity is how Christians cause divisions amongst the folds. I have never come across where followers of Paul in the Bible ever said they should not follow that of Apostle John. I thought it is said that the bible is inspired words of God, so why Deeper Life or Believers Love World or Redeem members will not like each other? I am sick and tired of all these. Girl follow your heart.

I have a female friend like you. She is facing same issue. Sometimes she drops her trouser in my place so that the dad won't see her wearing it. Is kinda funny. I don't know what exactly you want cos most people believe that only when you pleases them , that's when they see you as a good person. Your dad might be a disciplinarian but you children of now days just want total freedom without considering the children of whom you are. Anyways if you are truly fed up, you can join me in Catholic church. Remember life is not all about sugar in the morning, sugar in the afternoon and sugar in the evening. Desist from friends pushing you to gain freedom

What a perfect topic at the right time. Before now I used to see Deeper life people as the only saint going to heaven not until I married there daughter. Am feeling hell as I type now with a woman born and raised in Deeper life though she claimed she now attend RCCG. My father inlaw is late before I met my wife and the mother must compulsory remarried at age of 55yrs. Anytime I have issues with my wife as she's stubborn type, when her mum heard about it,she will claimed is because we don't attend Deeper life marriage committee that is why we are having issues. Instead to give my wife moral instructions when things happen, she always condemn her and get my wife more frustrated and confused, now my wife has left home with her mum's support. When I asked the mother where is my wife, she said my wife has gone to search for work, I asked where but she refused to tell me. Mother inlaw even said no man can stop her from her work not even her husband when alive.

Lesson learn ; they only worship doctrine not the true word of God.

your utmost freedom lies in getting married except you want to take the bull by the horn. You can stand your ground and let them know the reason why you ain't interested in doing the deeper Christian life church thing, it will come with confrontations and attitude or even punishment, just stand resolute and unshaken in your decision. You are an adult and old enough to take your decision on your own, I wish you the best.

My Sister, there is no Church in Heaven. Provided you've not backslided and your relationship with God is intact, go to where you feel you will serve God happily. I'm of the Deeper Life stock too. I left another living Church for Deeper Life because I was more comfortable with their Christian comportment after I was saved from the world. Think about this posers.
Why am I leaving Deeper life?
1. Because of their administrative rules and regulations which Baba Kumuyi now calls non-essentials? Good luck to you.
3. Is it because of their Bible doctrinal stand? Then ask God for a renewal and He will grant you.

Don't succomb to peer pressure and leave now. That's a house will always miss while in ur Hubby's house. So enjoy it while it lasted. Leaving now won't do you and your parents any good. Pple will even Gossip ur Dad " he councils others yet can't tame his daughter' I beg u to stay for now.

It's good to be obedient to our parents. The Bible expressly commands that. The only exception is when their instructions contradict God's word. Even in our refusal, we must be very humble, prayerful and full of tact. shocked. God knows what we are going through, our response is in itself a test of our faith.

My sister please dont disregard my words, nobody owns ur life you will experience total freedom when u take charge of your life that doesnt mean you should be disrespectful. Church doctrine sometimes have a cult like hold on adherants, its like mental slavery and inductrination..
my father is an elder in deeper life church i hated the dull and long hours of church and early morning devotion. Am now an ATHEIEST maybe due to the fact that am a physicist or satisfactory answers cant be provided to religious questions. Try ATHEISM when u can fend for yourself.

Dad was a Deeper Life pastor and naturally a strict disciplinarian .. well in all his strictness , he never try to enforce his teachings when we grew older.. of course you must go to deeper life when you're at home, you must wear what the church wants, you must not play secular music in the house .. and then all these felt like a burden, . i did not like to be restricted.. Now where is my Dad, 6 ft down.. so sometimes now i wish i had someone telling me go here, don't do this, do that, i swear i crave to hear that guidance voice, but now he's no more... treasure those acts of your dad while you're still under him.. when you grow older and get a life of your own, things will adjust accordingly.

i miss you dad
