I have really enjoyed the Roforofo fight. I lived and worked in the Uk, Ireland and a few short months France. I live and do business back home in Port Harcourt. I know both sides of the divide, some statements here are way of the mark but hey! we all have right to an opinion. You guys have not included all the variables on a 4000 GBP salary, like Income Tax, Council Tax, Mortgage repayment, Cost of living etc. You'll probably loose 32% on income tax alone.

Thats the link to UK salary scale. Have fun

A property is a property, dilapidated or not.

Yaba is sellin for 50, why shd phase 1/2 sell for 35?

U cannot use this to judge.
The best area in Somolu will cost more than the worst area in Ikeja.

Lekki generally means phase 1 up to Ajah

. . . . . . no, you cannot get a 5 bedroom house for N35m in that neighborhood but you can still get land and apartments for that price though

So you agree one can get a property for 35 milla in that area?

Yes, you can buy land or apartments but not a 5 bedroom house

Nah. . . . . .not necessarily a 5 bedroom house.
My friend here(TKB) is arguing one cannot get ANY property for 35 milla in Lekki Phase 1/2.

I am very familiar with the neighborhood and have a pretty good idea how much real estate costs in that axis.

A lot of people living in Ajah and beyond say they live in Lekki but any Lekki beyond VGC is not the hot market we are talking about

I see. . . . .

I don't think english is ur prob
Read what tht guy posted

When I say 80milla house, I don't mean a 2 bedroom of course
The 50milla house in yaba is 5 room with Bqs and other amenities
Oga, drop this, yaba is much more in demand than ajah so u can even get a sky scrapper for 10m in Ajah if u bargain well

TKB, you are the one imagining things in your head. grin cheesy

Martinosi never specified he had a 2 bedroom mansion or a 25 bedroom house.
All he said was there are peops who own 3 different properties in Lekki - and you concluded he meant houses that go for 80 milla Naira.
For all you know, the properties he was referring to me might be bungalows or even SHOPS.
Now that we know there are properties for 35 Milla in that area, put your tail between your legs and SCRAMMMMMMM!!!! grin grin grin grin

Ok, y'all be done with this gay conversation. Everyone knows that only poor people live in lekki phase 1/2. All the big boys on the island are in VI or Ikoyi.

@ Topic

Like several people already said, no good or bad, overseas or Nigeria

What I have discovered from personal experience is you have to decide what is more important to you, what are your priorities?

I'm talking strictly middle class white collar professionals here living in both societies:

If you want sanity and organisation, you're best off living abroad and with a good job in a good location, you can make a nice, very comfortable life for yourself

If you want the potential of sudden wealth (happens everyday in Naija) you're better off in Nigeria but you may never see it

could also read as. . . . if you want the potential of sudden death (happens everyday in naija) sorry i couldn't resist

the only way to go about getting cash from your AMEX card is via the atm. the interest rates on cash advances are astronomical though. but if you are one of these naija people who arranged the card with other peoples details then you wouldnt have to worry about the rate seeing as you aint planning to pay it back grin natty, banky, chekere, laide, ( naija boys code word for natwest, barclays, check, lloyds )

At an average N150 to USD1, actually more like USD233,000 but agree with you that's outrageous nonetheless which makes finding a word for Ikoyi and VI raw land prices more difficult

Thanks! Bad mistake by me there . . .  yes, $233,000 for a plot of land in a village like lekki where most of the basics remain missing, and no gold, diamond or any other precious mineral buried underground  is ABSURD and OUTRAGEOUS . . . infact, that ought to only happen a megaverse in the twilight zone.
Re: Are Nigerians Resident In Uk Jealous Of Their Visiting Counterparts ? by 1honeybee: 3:50am On Jun 11, 2010
This topic is rubbish. the only people living in UK that can complain about this are those without a good job.  A lot of 'rich' friends of my parent come visiting every onw and then, my mum will house, feed and take them out and even contribute to their shopping expenses, which is annoying to me actuall, but wat can i do eh? is it my moni?
Overall sha. . . .if these people are living well, they wont have any reason to be jealous of ye visitors
