A former Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuemeka Ezeife has warned against alleged plans by President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to frame-up former President, Olusegun Obasanjo. This is sequel to the outcry by Obasanjo in a statement released on Friday alleging that Buhari was trying to frame him up and prosecute him on false charges. Ezeife in a statement on Friday said Buhari’s attempt to pull down Obasanjo will fail. According to him, attempts to frame Obasanjo would turn out to be a final bus stop for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Government. He, therefore, urged Buhari to take caution towards Obasanjo. His statement read in part “Buhari will not, should not and cannot harass former President Obasanjo for his political position. There are boundaries to everything we do in life, there are boundaries.” On what could happen if Obasanjo is arrested, he said, “It means that the system has completely broken down. They were doing it to Igbo people. Pull Igbo down. “They started with Ibeto, they went to Capital Oil, they went to Innoson, then they went to all those who were importing container, their containers were being seized. “So, when they were doing pull Igbo down, we only lamented but if he wants to pull Obasanjo down, he will pull himself down.” http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/why-arresting-obasanjo-will-be-end-of.html

The General Overseer at Toplife Ministries International, Apostle Paul Umoru has made a shocking revelation on Facebook on how a man mysteriously turned in a python and then went further to swallow a member of his church. According the pastor, a member of his church and her family were on their way home from church when she asked a man she met in the tricycle to help carry her child. All of a sudden, the stranger mysteriously transformed into a python and was already swallowing the little boy. If not for the intervention of the Holy Spirit, after the woman shouted JESUS, the boy would have been entirely consumed by the strange snake. But according to the pastor, the boy was vomited by the snake and it mysteriously disappeared. Read his story below: Beloved, on Sunday 4th Feb 2018 a member of our church, while returning home after service around after 1pm joined a kekenapep with her four children. She handed over one of the children to a male passenger she met in the keke to help her carry due to lack of enough space. Not long after, the stranger transformed to a large python and was swallowing this young boy right inside the keke in broad day light here in Bonny Island. The head and part of the shoulders of the young boy had already gone into the mouth of the python. On noticing this frightening scene, the boy’s mother shouted JESUS! This made the python to vomit the boy and disappeared leaving some teeth bruises on the boy’s body. The boy had fainted but was later revived and prayed over. See picture below showing the teeth of the python on the boy. The lesson here is to ensure you don’t handover your child or property to a total stranger. You may never know who you are dealing with. May the Almighty God deliver us from satanic agents of darkness in the name of Jesus Christ! http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/pastor-says-man-turned-into-snake-and.html

A former Super Eagles defender, Taribo West has stated that he saw the spirit of the US ’94 in the current national team side when he visited their camp. He also provided reasons he believes the team fell 2-1 to England at Wembley last Saturday. West also spoke on what may be the performance of coach Gernot Rohr’s men when they file out against the Czech Republic this afternoon. According to the former Eagles star, the team will put up a better performance against the Czech Republic in Austria on Wednesday. Taribo, who represented Nigeria at the 1998 and 2002 World Cups, said the Nigerian squad would have learnt from their mistakes against England, saying he expects a more assured outing against the Czechs. “In the first half, the Eagles had so much respect for the English and weren’t coordinated in the middle and sometimes at the back, but all that changed after the coach made some changes and we saw what the team could do. The Czech game would be different, I expect to see a better Eagles side on Wednesday,” Taribo told Punch. He also backed the team to do well at the World Cup in Russia despite questions over the team’s ability to advance from Group D, which includes two-time world champions Argentina , Croatia and Iceland. “This team will surprise bookmakers and people who have written them off. I had a chance meeting with some members of the squad in Abuja before they headed for London and I can see the spirit of the 1994 set in them. I believe they will do well in Russia.” http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/2018-world-cup-what-i-saw-in-super.html

General Overseer of Omega Fire ministry, Apostle Suleman and his wife, Lizzy are celebrating fourteen fruitful years of marriage. The couple who have been through thick and thin as well as scandals and romantic moments sure have alot to be grateful to God for. They have since received a lot of congratulatory messages on social media from their family, friends ans well as church members. It may be recalled that the man of God built a shopping mall, a petrol/gas station and a transport company for his wife as a birthday present. Check out the throw back and current photos of the couple Autobiography of Apostle Joshua Suleman Few days after Apostle Johnson Suleman was born, story has it that Prophets traveled all the way from Warri in Delta State of Nigeria, to Benin in Edo State of Nigeria(Apostle Johnson Suleman’s place of birth), armed with message from God. When his parents inquired to know what the message was all about, they were informed that God told the prophets that a prophet that would minister in God’s presence has been born. Apostle Johnson Suleman’s parents refused to continue listening to the prophets because they were Muslims and could not understand the possibility of their son becoming a Christian, let alone being God’s minister. As the young Apostle Johnson Suleman began to grow, his parents observed that he was somehow strange in the way he did things. He values the things of God even as he attends the mosque with his father. As young as he then was, he knew he was not in a path he was meant to be. While he was doing his secondary school in Auchi his home town, Apostle Johnson Suleman had an encounter with CHRIST but he however received a lot of pressures that made him to withdraw from Christianity for a little while. However, Apostle Johnson Suleman later moved to Benin City in Edo State, where he finally declared for CHRIST, and got reconnected with his DESTINY. Immediately after that, Apostle Johnson Suleman started hanging-out with his Christian brothers, and accompanies them for work of evangelism and prayers. On June 20, 1994 he got a revelation where he saw the image of the globe being given to him with a biblical inscription of Acts 10:38 written on it. Before this happened, Apostle Johnson Suleman had read through the whole Bible repeatedly for three good times because of his unquenchable thirst for God. However, all the time he had studied he bible, he never gave any particular attention to Acts 10:38. Apostle Johnson Suleman arose from the vision, he was so shocked, and immediately searched for his bible…………. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/apostle-suleman-and-wife-lizzy.html

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday re-arraigned Col. Nicholas Ashinze, a former Special Assistant to the embattled ex-National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki and eight others on 13 counts of money laundering involving the sum of N1.84bn. The anti-graft agency re-arraigned the defendants before Justice Babatunde Quadri on Monday following the earlier withdrawal of the former trial judge, Justice Gabriel Kolawole, from the case. Others, who were re-arraigned alongside Ashinze on Monday, included an Austrian and Managing Director of Geonel Integrated Services Limited, Mr Wolfgang Reinl; a lawyer, Mr Edidiong Idiong; and Lt.-Col. Sagir D. Mohammed (retd.). The rest of the defendants were companies. They were, Geonel Integrated Services Limited, Unity Continental Nigeria Limited, Helpline Organisation, Vibrant Resource Limited and Sologic Integrated Services Limited. The EFCC, through its prosecuting counsel, Mr Ofem Ukett, had accused the defendants of various money laundering offences involving the alleged transfer and taking possession of a total of N1,840,000,000, which it described as proceeds of unlawful acts. The commission in Count 1 accused all the defendants of conspiracy to commit money laundering offences contrary to Section 18 (a) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011, and punishable under Section 15 (3) and (4) of the same law. It alleged in counts 2 to 7 that Ashinze; the Austrian, Reinl and Reinl’s Geonel Integrated Services Limited corruptly transferred various sums of money, totalling N1.84bn to Idiong, Mohammed, Sologic Integrated Services Limited, Vibrant Resource Limited and Helpline Organisation. The anti-graft agency claimed that the transfer of the funds on April 22, 23, 24 and May 5, 2014, which allegedly formed parts of “proceeds of unlawful acts” violated the provisions of section 15(2)(b) of Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act and punishable under section 15(3) and (4) of the same law. The prosecution, in counts 8 to 13, accused Idiong, Mohammed, Sologic Integrated Services Limited, Vibrant Resource Limited and Helpline Organisation of “taking possession” of the various sums of money totalling N1.84bn when they “reasonably ought to know” that the funds were proceeds of “unlawful acts”. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/efcc-re-arraigns-dasukis-former-aide.html

He declared Ogundoyin as the winner ”having scored the highest votes as stipulated in the electoral law. The bye-election that was held in 140 polling units in all 10 wards across the constituency was necessitated followed the death of Michael Adeyemo, the occupant of the seat in the State House of Assembly, on April 27. In his remark at the end of the election, Mr Adedeji Soyebi, the National Electoral Commissioner for Oyo, Osun and Ekiti, said the election was successful and gave kudos to the people of the constituency for conducting themselves peacefully. ” We have little issue with card readers unlike previous elections because we used enhanced smart card readers now” Soyebi noted. He also commended security personnel deployed to the area for their efforts toward peaceful and violence free exercise. The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) who monitored the bye election in Eruwa and Lanlate towns reports that there was heavy presence of security operatives led by Mr Abiodun Odude, the Oyo state commissioner of police. An armed robber has been reportedly killed after he engaged in an intense fight with FSARS operatives in Ogun state. The robber was killed It has been reported that the operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS), Abeokuta in Ogun State, on Thursday, May 31, 2018, recorded a triumphant victory over a gang of cross-border bandits after a gun battle. During the fire fight, a member of the syndicate was killed by the police bullet while others scampered for safety in different directions. According to Crime Puzzle, it was gathered that a team of FSARS operatives, attached to Sango-Otta area and led by Supol Bawa Sanni, had received an order from their boss, DSP Uba Adams, as directed by the state Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, to track down the bandits who had earlier snatched a Lexus 350 Jeep at Oke-Ilewo in Abeokuta, the state capital. The hoodlums were ostensibly heading towards neighboring Benin Republic when they ran into a brick wall in the FSARS operatives on Sango-Idiroko Road. Apparently bent on escaping with the vehicle, they opened fire on the policemen, but were subdued by the retaliatory and gallantry efforts of the officers. The fatally injured member of the gang was taken to the State Hospital Ijaye, Abeokuta where he finally gave up the ghost. His corpse was consequently deposited at the hospital’s mogue. The snatched jeep and an AK 47 rifle, as well as 13 live ammunition were recovered from the robbers. “Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, who expressed his satisfaction about the performance of his men, has ordered a serious manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang. The CP also assured residents of the state to always alert the police on time whenever any crime is being committed in their area to enable the police respond as quickly as possible”. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/end-of-road-armed-robber-killed-after.html

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday in Abuja assured the new President of Sierra Leone, Mr Julius Maada Bio, of Nigeria’s support as they work towards a stable and improved economy. Receiving the Sierra Leonean President at the Presidential Villa, Buhari congratulated Bio on the successful elections and the transitions that had ushered in a new government in the country. “We will continually stand by you to ensure stability in your country. We believe security in the West Coast region, Africa and the world should be a collective concern,” he said. He said Nigeria had for a long period provided security support for the country, especially during the 11 years of civil war, and would continue to assist the forces on the ground to ensure the peace and stability needed for development. President Buhari noted that he shared a lot in common with the Sierra Leonean President, which includes ruling the country as a military general, contesting several elections as opposition and winning to face the challenges of security and an ailing economy. In his remarks, the President of Sierra Leone said his country remains grateful to Nigeria for the brotherly role it had played in ensuring an end to protracted civil war in the country, and the successful political transitions since then. Mr Bio said he would work towards deepening the bilateral relations with Nigeria, and the strengthening of the regional bond, particularly in the areas of security and trade. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/05/what-buhari-told-sierra-leone-president.html

The Police in Lagos have arrested a football academy operator (name withheld) for allegedly shaving pubic hairs of young boys and paying them between N100 and N200. Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Imohimi Edgal, who confirmed the arrest to newsmen on Monday, said the suspect claimed the boys were members of his Magico Football Academy at Agege, Lagos. Edgal said the suspect was arrested after one of the boys started losing weight and told his parents that the suspect had shaved his pubic hairs. “The suspect allegedly lured some youths who are aged between 11 and 15 years to his house after a football game and shaved their armpit and pubic hairs and thereafter gave them between N100 and N200 only. “Parents should be careful of whoever their children get involved with. You know children easily warm up to anybody who claims to groom them for a football career. “This makes it easy for them to be abused. The suspect will be charged to court as soon as possible,’’ he said. Similarly, two men were arrested for allegedly bringing two ladies to Lagos from Calabar without their parents’ consent. “A team of policemen attached to Ilemba-Hausa Division arrested the suspects while taking the two sisters to unknown destination. “The victims were allegedly brought to Lagos by one Emeka under the pretence of getting them a job and without the consent of their parents. “The victims are right now in protective custody, while effort is on to locate their biological parents,” the CP said. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/05/football-academy-owner-arrested-for.html

Activist Senator, Shehu Sani who represents Kaduna Central in the upper legislative chamber blew the whistle on one of the best-kept secrets in the National Assembly, the huge amount members earn as salaries and allowances. In this interview with Saxone Akhaine, he speaks on the failure of democracy especially under the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. Excerpts: As one of the few pro-democracy activists that found themselves in government today, how will you assess democracy under the current dispensation in Nigeria? Democracy is almost two decades and there have been achievements and failures. For the first time in the history of our country, an opposition party has been able to wrest power from the ruling party and that showed the credibility of the electoral process, and also the rising consciousness and political awareness in the minds and hearts of our people. We have left Egypt but we are not yet in the Promised Land. There has been appreciable infrastructural development in areas of health, education, roads and housing. But over the years we have seen a progressive and gradual slide into tyranny. Some of the fundamental petals and principles and components of our democratic process have been falling apart. In the last 19 years we have seen political actors and role players coming onto the stage and also exiting out of the stage. What we have all generally agreed is that democracy has come to stay. It is the only avenue, means and instrument for which we can govern a multi-religious and multi-ethnic society like ours. But we must accept the fact that there has been a widening division among the nation’s geo-ethnic and political configuration. And Nigerians have never been so divided as they are now. And the achievements that we have recorded over the years have seriously been dented by the mindless bloodletting and violence that we have seen of recent. And if you have not forgotten, in the early part of our democratic process, we have seen the violence in Kaduna and some northern parts of Nigeria that borders on religion. And we have seen the ethnic militia in the South-South, Southwest, and the Southeastern part of Nigeria. But, now the bloodletting, the violence and the killings are in the North central, Northeast and the Northwest. The mindless level of corruption and the disconnect between those in power and those that are being governed and the arrogance and indifference of the political elites, as far as the governance of Nigeria is concerned, should be a thing of concern to us all. And if we should assess the performance of the government in the last three years, we can say that President Muhammadu Buhari has been able to make some achievements in some areas; in the fight against the insurgents and also as far as global perception of Nigeria is concerned he has been able to establish himself. He has been able to make appreciable progress in beefing up our foreign reserve and the economy has stabilised to a certain level and we can also see some form of direction as to where we are heading. But, we have failed to secure Nigerians. The killings going on in this country, the perception of nepotism, and the negative perception of members of the public about members of the parliament, the onslaught against the parliament, the desecration of the democratic process happening now and the perception of the President that is not in control of issues and surrounded by a vicious cabal are threats to the democratic process and the country as a whole. And then we also have docile civil societies that are not able to rise to the challenges facing our country and hold people to account. And we also have timid major opposition parties and a reluctant and disorderly ruling party; such is what we have today. So, when you put all these into consideration you will see that we have left where we are, but we are not where we are supposed to be. You were part of the struggle… You see, each time you remind me of the struggle, I will also appreciate a person like you who have been through all the periods of our struggle, right from our student union days and till today and I believe that we owe you and this country a lot. As a journalist, you have seen our struggle in Kaduna and the northern part of Nigeria, from when the situation was bad and worse. Well, what we would accept is that we are done with the military rule, but we must not take our democracy for granted. The reality of the situation today is that both the ruling party and those in opposition are yet to come to grasp with democracy and the spirit of change, which we promised to deliver to Nigerians. Take the issue of the ruling party in particular, as example. We promised to Nigerians that we would bring change to the country. Not just change in governance but change in how the party is being run. But, you can see the disorder, chaos and the violence that attended the ruling party, APC congresses. And that is not in any way inspirational, that is not in any way a good model for others to follow. It is antithetical to the preaching of change and democracy. If a ruling party cannot provide fairness and justice to its members, if a ruling party cannot guarantee internal democracy then it is not different from the party that it displaced out of power. One of the issues being raised against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is that some certain persons whose actions and tendencies were anti-democratic own the party. And again, in the last three years the National Assembly has been vilified and deliberately maligned by campaigns of propaganda and misinformation from the side of the executive arm of the government. And to a certain point, they are trying to manipulate the conscience of Nigerians to accept that democracy can work only in the judiciary and executive arms of the state. So, there is a basic lack of understanding and appreciation and embrace of the fundamentals of democracy and separation of powers on the side of the people who are in position of power today. And that is very dangerous to our democratic process in the very sense that they are pushing the country into tyranny. What are the symptoms of this? People are being criticised, people are still being arrested and persecuted for expressing their opinions. And we have seen members of the parliament that are being framed up for one criminal charge or another for simply being independent minded and we have seen a kind of insecticides and deodorants anti-corruption fight which undermines the credibility and independence and impartiality of the crusade of anti-corruption. And you can also see the very fact that the Federal Government who will come out and criticize the governor of Ekiti for hate speeches and violence, is the same Federal Government who will remain silent when the governor of Kaduna is engaged in hate speeches and advocating violence. How can a serving governor from the ruling party come out publicly to call for violence against serving senators, both of ruling party and opposition party and you don’t find any statement coming from the Federal Government? Who is going to take hate speeches and violence very seriously in Nigeria when the Federal Government will keep quiet when a serving governor will call on the citizens to openly attack and kill serving senators? What kind of a country do we live in? What kind of a country do we live in where a serving governor, despite the killings in Taraba, Benue, Nasarawa, Plateau states and mindless massacre in Birnin Gwari in Kaduna state; for a governor of a ruling party to come out openly, mock and ridicule the number of people that were killed in the states without a single statement coming from the Federal Government to criticise such a person? So, as far as I am concerned, one of the deficits of change today is the very fact that the Federal Government behaves like a sheep, when it comes to holding people in position of power from the ruling party into account and it behaves like a tiger when it comes to issues of holding people to account on the opposition side. And that is not good for our democracy and our country. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/05/we-are-taking-democracy-for-granted-in.html
