A National Assembly member, Sen. Shehu Sani, says Sunday attack in Plateau that led to the death of over 80 persons and destruction of no fewer than 50 buildings was one too many. DAILY POST reports that the Chairman, North Central zone of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) Danladi Ciroma, on Monday claimed that the killing of 86 persons in Razat, Ruku, Nyarr, Kura and Gana-Ropp villages of Gashish District in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area l of Plateau State was in retaliation to the killing of over 300 cows in the last few weeks by the villagers. Sani, who represents Kaduna Central Senatorial District at the Senate, said in a statement on Monday in Abuja that it was tragic and unfortunate that people were being killed daily in Nigeria. He expressed concern that while killings continued unabated across the country, the interest and attention of the political class were more on power and 2019 elections. “While governors danced and sang at Eagle Square, the lives of the governed were being wasted. “In Nigeria today, the life of the poor is cheaper than peanuts and Gala. “We have become a nation in perpetual mourning and funeral service. “Enough blood has been spilled in Nigeria to touch the conscience of people in power, if at all humanity matters. “Until the ruling political elite raise the value of the lives of the underprivileged to equal that of the powerful and privileged, the systemic wastage of the lives of the poor will remain unabated. “The nation has lost its sense of outrage and we are tragically spreading red carpets and beating the drums of praises to leaders who woefully failed in their responsibilities,” the lawmaker said. He condoled with the families of the deceased, while praying God to rest their souls. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/plateau-massacre-shehu-sani-attacks.html

Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has said that the Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike has shamed his ‘enemies of progress, with the level of projects he has carried out in the state. Abubakar said that Wike, has opened the eyes of Nigerians to the true meaning of good governance through the delivery of quality projects. The monarch said this while commissioning the State Council of Traditional Rulers’ Secretariat Complex built by Wike’s administration yesterday. He said, “We will continue to commend you as long as the people commend you. I call you Mr. Opener because you have opened eyes to what governance should be. What you are doing will endear you to the people. “We saw these projects with our eyes, nobody told us. You cannot say that this governor has not worked. Even the enemies of progress will acknowledge that something is being done.” The monarch noted that government was a process where the leader continued to do what was right, and praised Governor Wike for doing what was right for Rivers people. He further urged the governor to concentrate on agriculture, especially oil palm production, when the people actualise their support for him next year. According to him, no matter the situation, the votes of Rivers people must count and the people be allowed to determine their leaders. Speaking at the ceremony, the governor said that his administration resolved to construct a befitting place where the traditional rulers would share ideas and contribute to the development of the state. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/sultan-of-sokoko-names-gov-wike-mr.html

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Thursday reacted to the arrest of former Benue Governor, Gabriel Suswam over insecurity in the state. Benue State has been a flashpoint of violence, following the persistent crisis between herdsmen and farmers. Suswam was reportedly arrested by Department of State Services, DSS, over his alleged connection with crisis. Reacting, PDP said Suswam’s arrest was part of Federal Government’s plot to silence “dissenting voice.” In a statement by its spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan, PDP said, “The wicked clampdown has started. Only yesterday, we were made aware of the arrest and detention of former Benue State governor, Hon. Gabriel Suswam, who has been kept incommunicado without access to his lawyers, while the Federal Government is not forthcoming with the details of the reasons behind the arrest and detention. “However, we know that his arrest and detention is intended to put him out of circulation so that he will not take part in the mega-meetings of our party planned for the North Central states. “There are already fears that other opposition leaders and dissenting voices have been placed under watch and will be dragged in and framed up on security charges, so as to keep them out of circulation ahead of the elections.” http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/pdp-raises-alarm-over-arrest-of-ex.html

Earlier today we reported the news of veteran artiste Daddy Showkey calling out singing duo Mamuzee twins abandoning their mom until she passed. The veteran has now shared more light on why he called the singers out and according to him, the twins abandoned their mother because a pastor told them she was a witch. In an exclusive interview with LIB, Showkey said; ‘no mind those bastard idiot boys, they are stupid idiots. Those boys abandoned their mother for 17 years because one idiot pastor tell them say their mama na witch. The mama wey born una, wey no kill una till una dey succesful, the woman born 10 children and all of una dey alive o’. He continued; ‘four days ago after they called me that the woman has been sick for a long time, I called the twins and told them to go and see their their mum and they said they are at a church in Warri doing 10 days fasting. They even told me that its their pastor that’s telling them to stay away from their mother because they’ve been married for years with no child. And I asked why didn’t the woman who gave birth to 10 of you not kill any one? why didn’t she kill us all when we were all struggling in Ajegunle and she was the only one taking care of us? On why he called them out on social media; ‘I didn’t intend to say anything about this issue but when I saw their post on Instagram, I dropped a comment on it and they deleted it, that’s why i went on my page to call them out. Its so sad that they don’t know the value of motherhood’. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/mamuzee-twins-abandoned-their-mother.html

President Muhammadu Buhari stated on Wednesday that the terminal of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu will be delayed. He said this was as a result of the reduction in the cost of the repair by 75 percent. The President disclosed this on his official Twitter handle, following the signing of the 2018 budget in Abuja. He tweeted, “The provision for construction of the terminal building at the Enugu airport was cut from N2bn to N500m, which will further delay the completion of this critical project.” The Federal Government had a few years ago, decided to give the Enugu airport a facelift, with modern facilities to attract more flights, following its upgrade to an international airport. The Minister of State for Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, had said during a recent facility tour of the airport that when modernised, it would attract multi-billion naira investments in Enugu State. However, since the project commenced, no definite completion date has been set for the terminal’s completion. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/why-enugu-airport-project-will-be.html

A traditional ruler from the Ekeremor local government area of Bayelsa State has reported that a grade level 10 health worker was earning as much as N600,000 monthly. Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Daniel Iworiso-Markson, made the disclosure during a town hall meeting at Ekeremor on Tuesday. Iworiso-Markson called on more citizens to be active whistle blowers, assuring that the present administration would not relent in its efforts to sanitize the Public service and make it one of the best in Nigeria. According to him, whistle blowing would encourage the public “to blow the whistle on any worker who is defrauding the system or engaged in fraudulent activities to shortchange the government.” He expressed the present administration’s readiness to partner with individuals, especially those that have useful information on the activities of the pay roll fraudsters in the state public service. Iworiso-Markson expressed confidence that the ongoing public sector reforms would enable government to save funds to commence the payment of gratuities and other welfare packages before the end of the present administration. While commending the Chiefs and people of Ekeremor community for cooperating with government in maintaining peace in the area, Iworiso-Markson urged them to sustain the kind gesture to enable government take the Sagbama-Ekeremor Road to Ekeremor main town by December this year. The Caretaker Chairman of Ekeremor Local Government Council, Mr Tolu Amatu, who recounted the gains recorded from the reforms, said that the Council’s wage bill has been reduced from over N90 billion in 2016 to its current N64 billion. Speaking on behalf of traditional rulers from the area, the Paramount Ruler and Amapere of Ekeremor, Chief Agbodo Gbaseimo, endorsed the public sector restructuring exercise, describing the continued stay of over-aged workers as unpatriotic. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/bayelsa-monarch-exposes-gl-10-health.html

A former CIA employee has been charged with stealing classified national defense information from the US intelligence agency and passing it to the Wikileaks. Joshua Adam Schulte, 29, was hit with a 13-count indictment yesterday that accuses him with everything from the theft of government property to copyright infringement to obstruction of justice. The feds say Schulte illegally leaked classified information, including national defense information that he believed could be used “to the injury of the United States and the advantage of a foreign nation.” In 2016, Schulte allegedly stole the Classified Information from a computer network at the CIA and later transmitted it to Organization-1. Schulte also intentionally caused damage without authorization to a CIA computer system by granting himself unauthorized access to the system, deleting records of his activities, and denying others access to the system. Schulte subsequently made materially false statements to FBI agents concerning his conduct at the CIA, federal prosecutors alleged. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/software-engineer-who-leaked-cia.html

Traders from all over Abia State staged a “One Million-Man March” in support of the governor of the state, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, on Friday, June 15, 2018. The march which held under the auspices of Abia State Market Amalgamated Traders Association, ASMATA, saw the traders march in their numbers through the streets of Umuahia, the Abia State capital and terminated at the Government House in what was described as “show of solidarity for a trader-friendly governor who has done a lot for traders in the State”. “It is not easy for you to see an Igbo trader leave his merchandise for a march of this kind. But we have to do this for Governor Ikpeazu because he has proved to us that he is a man who has the interest of not only the traders but that of the masses at heart. Such a man deserves our support,” one of the traders said. The president of ASMATA, Chief Emeka Enechebe, while addressing the crowd said they decided to march for the governor for his great achievements in the state which included the construction of needed infrastructure critical to their trade. Such infrastructure included Faulks Road that leads to the sprawling Ariaria International market, and other roads all over Abia that have made trading easier as goods are now transported from one point to the other without the usual stress of avoidable delays, accidents and displacements caused by flood. Addressing the governor directly, Chief Enechebe said, “I am here before all the traders in Abia State to most humbly convey to you our unanimous decision to adopt you as our only governorship candidate for the 2019 governorship elections”. This elicited a rapturous round of applause from the traders. Responding, a visibly elated Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, thanked the traders for their support and solidarity, saying that what they had done was the greatest show of love to him. He further reminded the traders of the inestimable value he placed on them which made him make trade and commerce one of the pillars of development of his administration. He told them that apart from what he has already done in the areas of roads and other infrastructure, contract for the construction of Umuchichi Road in Aba has been awarded while work would soon commence on Ngwa and Uratta Roads also in Aba, saying that none of the roads he built has developed pot holes as he adheres to the best standards and qualities in his projects in the state. “The era of ‘promise and fail’ is gone,” he declared. “I made promises to you and I have delivered. That is why you are here today to show support, and I sincerely appreciate that.” His announcement of donation of a coaster bus to the traders elicited rapturous applause from them. Continuing amidst punctuations by solidarity songs from the traders, the governor warned that no opposition member should post bills on the projects he has done in the state. He asked the traders to go and get their PVCs in readiness for the 2019 elections. “Anyone who wants your votes must first show you what he/she has been able to do for you. If they cannot show you, they don’t deserve your votes,” he said. Some of the traders who spoke to newsmen after the march said they are ready to do all within their power to ensure that Dr Ikpeazu is returned as governor come 2019. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/era-of-promise-and-fail-is-gone-ikpeazu.html

The Aliko Dangote Foundation on Monday inaugurated 200 housing units and a school it constructed for widows and orphans among Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Borno. Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Executive Chairman of the foundation said at the inauguration in Maiduguri that it was in fulfilment of a pledge he made two years ago. He disclosed that the foundation had so far spent over N7 billion in providing humanitarian assistance to those displaced by Boko Haram in the Northeast, and would provide N2 billion more. Dangote said: “You may recall in the last two years when I first paid a visit to the IDPs camp, I made a pledge of N2 billion on behalf of Dangote foundation. “The gesture was designed to support government to key into the reconstruction of houses that were destroyed and vandalised by Boko Haram. “It was the decision of the government that the donation should be given in materials and not cash. “It is against this backdrop and with consultation between the foundation and the state government that we provided building materials which included cement, aluminium roofing sheet, iron rods, ceiling as well as fabricated door and windows worth N1 billion to the state government. “The 200 housing units would provide accommodation to the IDPs in Borno. Each house is self contained and is built to house a family. “The state government had also provided skills acquisition kits to enable them become self reliant and enhance their livelihood. “The state government also built a school for the education of the children which was one of the key aspects that we needed to look into.” Dangote said that the foundation would release the second batch of N2 billion to continue with the construction of houses for vulnerable people. “I want to assure you that we will continue to do more until the IDPs are reintegrated back to the society and are able to resume their normal productive lives,” he said. He solicited for more donation by wealthy individuals towards the resettlement of the Boko Haram victims. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/dangote-donates-200-homes-for-idp.html

Pastor Samson Ayorinde of the World Evangelism Church, Ogudu, Lagos is currently in a legal tussle with the Lagos State Command of Nigerian Police over an arrest threat which rose from an investigation being done on him for the issuance of dud cheques. Ayorinde and two others filed a suit before the Ikeja High Court of Lagos State against the Police seeking a declaration that their harassment, intimidation, threat of arrest, detention and invitation by the police at the instance of some people is violation of the fundamental rights to personal liberty as guaranteed under section 34 and 35 of Nigeria constitution. The pastor and the Registered Trustees of World Evangelism Incorporated and Revered Harold Chinoyerem of the same Church have instituted the suit through their lawyer, Emmanuel B. Benjamin, against Mr. Oludare Amos Aturamu; Mrs. Kemi Adesanya; Smart Link Property Services; Commissioner of Police, Lagos; Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in-charge of State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (SCIID) Panti, Lagos; and Officer-in-Charge of Assistant Commissioner Section; and SP Alhaji Aminu, of SCIID, Panti, Lagos. Ayorinde and others are asking the court to restrain the police, their agents, privies, servants from inviting, arresting, detaining, harassing and molesting or any manner infringing on their rights. The petitioners are also asking for an order stopping the police from publishing their names in any police bulletin or any medium for the purpose of declaring them wanted as well as the police to pay them the sum of N4 million, as compensation for breach of their fundamental rights However, the Police in an affidavit filed before the court urged the court to dismiss Ayorinde’s suit The affidavit filed before the court by Police lawyer, Samsideen Adebesin, averred that it received a petition from Aturamu, Adesanya and Smart Link Services, where they alleged that Ayorinde obtained a loan of N30 million from them sometimes in August 2016, for the expansion of his church, with the promise that the loan will be refunded within two months with interest rate of 30 percent. The Police added that the petitioners alleged that not quite long after the loan was granted to Ayorinde that he traveled out of the country for medical vacation to attend to his health, only to come back to the country in July 2017. The police further alleged that when Ayorinde could not repay the loan, the interest rate was reduced to 22.5 percent as a mark of good gesture. Ayorinde, the Police claimed, is being investigated on a criminal complaint of issuance of dud cheques. And upon receiving the complaint, Ayorinde never presented himself to the police. The Police claimed that sometimes in August 2017, Ayorinde volunteered a statement in reaction to the allegation against him and was granted administrative bail. The police further stated that all the depositions made by the clergy were not only false, but untrue adding that Ayorinde and other applicants cannot use their suit to stop the police from carry out its constitutional duties of investigating alleged crimes. Consequently, the police urged the court to dismiss the applicants’ fundamental rights suit with substantive and punitive cost. Meanwhile, the trial judge, Justice A.A Adesanya has fixed June 21 for hearing the application. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/popular-lagos-pastor-police-battle-over.html

One Funmi Salako was found guilty for defrauding a deaf and dumb of a sum of 1 million naira. A magistrate court in Ibadan, Oyo state on Thursday found Funmi Salako guilty and sentenced her to two years imprisonment. The court, which was presided over by a magistrate, Taiwo Oladiran, was told that the defendant, who is a civil servant with the Oyo State Ministry of Land, Housing and Surveying, collected the money from her victim, one Musibau Ilori, under the pretext of helping him to purchase a piece of land for farming along the Ibadan-Oyo Expressway. Salako was first arraigned on June 5, 2017, on three counts of conspiracy, obtaining and stealing. The prosecutor, Sunday Ogunremi, had told the court that the defendant and others now at large conspired to defraud a deaf and dumb by collecting the sum of N1m from him. He said Salako and others at large fraudulently obtained the sum from Ilori under the false pretences of helping him to buy two acres of land along the Ibadan-Oyo Expressway. “The accused converted the money to her personal use without the owner’s consent. She committed an offence punishable under sections 518 (6), 419, 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 38 Vol. II, Law of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000,” he had said. The counsel for Salako, Florence Badmus, prayed the court temper justice with mercy because the accused was the breadwinner of her family. She said her client had already refunded the sum of N500,000 to the owner. While delivering judgment, the magistrate told the convict that she was heartless by overlooking the condition of the complainant and subsequently sentenced her to two years’ imprisonment. The magistrate, however, gave Salako an option of fine in the sum of N60,000, adding that if she chose the option, the balance of the money must be paid. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/civil-servant-defrauds-deaf-and-dumb-of.html

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has charged Muslims to continue to be prayerful and live together with others in peace, tolerance and service to humanity. The party made the call in its Eid-el-Fitri message to Islam faithful issued by Malam Bolaji Abdullahi, its National Publicity Secretary, on Thursday in Abuja. “With all the love, blessings and peace on this joyous occasion, we wish Muslims and indeed, all Nigerians a happy Eid-el-Fitr. “May all our good deeds be accepted by Almighty Allah (SWT),” it said. It advised Muslims to sustain the lessons from Ramadan by remembering and catering for the less-privileged and downtrodden around them as they gathered around family, friends and loved ones for the festivity. The party also said that the APC was confident that it would deliver on its campaign promises to the electorate through ongoing implementation of the policies of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration. It, however, added that “with your continuous prayers, support and cooperation, the ongoing task of building a new Nigeria for our progress, peace, unity and prosperity will be achieved”. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/eid-el-fitr-what-muslims-must-do-apc.html

Captain of the Nigerian national team, John Obi Mikel, has tipped Argentina to lift this year’s World Cup in Russia. The Super Eagles are in Group D of the competition alongside Argentina, Iceland and Croatia. When asked which teams are the favourites for the World Cup Mikel picked the South American giants. He said his choice lies in the fact that they have Lionel Messi in their squad. “We (Nigeria) are underdogs and we believe that will motivate us to do well in Russia. “All we need to do is to continue to be together in good or bad times. “Football is not all about winning. Hopefully we can achieve something great in the tournament. “I think every team is favourites (to win) but obviously if you have to say, there’s one footballer who is not from this planet. I love to give credit to whom it’s due. “Messi is one of the greatest players in the world so Argentina with him are one of the favourites.” https://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/2018-world-cup-mikel-picks-favourite.html

The 2026 FIFA World Cup has been awarded to the joint bid of United States of America, Mexico and Canada by the executive committee of the world governing body after a vote at the 69th FIFA Congress in Moscow on Wednesday. The United Bid received 134 votes, Morocco received 65 votes while one country voted for neither. A total of 210 members were present and eligible to vote but seven abstained. They are the four countries directly involved (USA, Canada, Mexico and Morocco) and three US-governed territories (Guam, Puerto Rico, American Samoa and the US Virgin Islands). Both bids were permitted to make a presentation for 15 minutes to the FIFA members immediately before the vote. The highlight of the United Bid featured a youth team player from each of the three nations, beginning with a moving tale by 17-year-old Canadian Alphonso Davies, who spoke about how his family had been welcomed after fleeing civil war in Africa. The three federation (USA, Canada, Mexico) chiefs also spoke, with Carlos Cordeiro, the American Soccer Administrator strongly emphasizing the profitability of a North American tournament, promising $11 billion in revenues. Morocco’s presentation took some not-so-subtle shots at the US, highlighting the fact that guns are banned in Morocco and stating that during the 1994 World Cup even world-renowned soccer stars were unknown in America. The US hosted the 1994 World Cup, while Mexico hosted in 1970 and 1986. Canada has never hosted the tournament. The next FIFA Congress which will be the 69th is scheduled for Paris on 5 June, 2019. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/how-joint-usa-canada-mexico-2026-world.html

Governor Samuel Ortom has claimed that the state has lost over N400 billion worth of property to renewed militia herdsmen attacks on Benue communities. Ortom made this claim while featuring on Radio Link, a Radio Nigeria audience participatory programme where he interacted with Nigerians on the achievements and challenges of his administration in the past three years. The Governor noted that the estimate was arrived at following preliminary report of assessment of damages caused by the crisis, stressing that the loss was much and difficult to recover from. He said the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law of the state was the peoples legislation and that no amount of intimidation or blackmail would make them repeal it, noting that he has no regret whatsoever concerning the enactment and implementation of the law. “I have no regret. Why should I have any regret doing the will of my people? They trusted me and gave me their votes and I will not betray what they want. I am doing what they want and I have no regret,” Governor Ortom stated. He commended his colleagues from Taraba and Abia States for keying into the ranching law, saying it was the right way to go. He also called on Nigerians with a better alternative to bring it on the table to find a lasting solution to farmers and herdsmen crisis in the country. The Governor challenged the Defence Minister, Dan-Masur Ali to come out and tell Nigerians why there were killings in Zamfara, his home state and other states of Nigeria like Kaduna among others where there was no anti-open grazing law, saying he was waiting for the minister to come out and apologise to Nigerians on his comments. “The Benue Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law originated from the people and no one will intimidate us to repeal it. What the Defence Minister is doing is encouraging anarchy and I am waiting for him to come out and apologise to Nigerians and Benue state in particular concerning his recent outburst against our law. Killings are going on in his home state, Zamfara, Kaduna and other states where there is no prohibition of open grazing. What can he say is responsible for those killings?” the Governor queried. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/how-benue-lost-n400bn-to-herdsmen-ortom.html

Former President Goodluck Jonathan’s Special Assistant on New Media, Reno Omokri, Monday came down hard on President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a leader suffering from “a chronic case of inferiority complex”. Omokri, who was reacting to the comments by Buhari last Friday that he did not sack the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Godwin Emefiele, when he assumed office because he wanted him to salvage the terrible economy he inherited, described the president as being economical with the truth. The president while hosting some of his supporters at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, also alleged that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) left the country in tatters and challenged anyone to contradict his claim. But Omokri, who said he accepted the challenge, described the president as a leader who went to the school of bad leadership to learn negative traits. In a statement, Omokri reminded Buhari that people only compare themselves to the best, adding that the reason why he constantly has strong need to compare himself to Jonathan and former President Olusegun Obasanjo is because he suffers from inferiority complex. The former president’s aide contended that the four habits which people do not want to see in their leaders and which President Buhari easily displays are: Complaining, comparing, criticising and condemning. He said: “Let me remind the president that people only compare themselves to the best and the reason he has this strong psychological need to compare himself to former Presidents Jonathan and Obasanjo is because he suffers from a chronic case of inferiority complex. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/buhari-suffering-from-inferiority.html

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has reacted to a report in the section of the media claiming that a presidential aspirant has been endorsed by key leaders of the party. The opposition party said the report was a fabrication from the imagination of the author and a calculated attempt to create disaffection in the party. In a statement signed by the National Organizing Secretary, Col Rtd Austin Akobundu, he reminded Nigerians that the Prince Uche Secondus-led NWC had repeatedly made it clear that all party congress, would be free, fair, transparent and open. The party said, “The attention of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has been drawn to a publication in one of the dailies claiming that one of the Presidential aspirants of our great party have been endorsed by the key leaders of our party. “Nothing can be farther from the truth and all Nigerians are urged to disregard the publication as it is a fabrication from the imagination of the author even as he tried to make it look authoritative. It is calculated to create confusion.” Col Akobundu emphasized that a re-branded PDP has no room for impunity and imposition of candidates. He said that the transparent primaries conducted in Ekiti state last month that produced the PDP flag bearer for the July 14 gubernatorial election, is a testimony to the fact that PDP was determined to pursue rule driven processes. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/2019-pdp-speaks-on-endorsing.html

The New Peoples Democratic Party, nPDP, has given conditions to return to the negotiation table with the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC. The Kawu Baraje-led defunct nPDP said negotiations will only commence if they are assured of an environment devoid of fear and intimidation. The National Chairman of the defunct nPDP made this known when he appeared on a political programme on Television Continental in Abuja on Saturday. Baraje said that members of his group were still interested in going back for peace talks because their interest in the health of the APC was the reason behind the letter they wrote to the party. He said, “We are ready to go back for peace talks. If we were not ready, we wouldn’t have raised that letter. For us to go back, the environment must be welcoming. “Anytime the environment returns to normal, we are ready to go back but the earlier the better because the party really does not have the luxury of time if it wants to win the 2019 elections. On what his group would do if the APC leadership calls its bluff, Baraje said, “If they call our bluff, we will go back and take a decision. “Baraje is just providing leadership for the group . Let the APC call our bluff first then we will go back to the people who sent us and they will take a decision. “If you represent a group and the interest of that group is not being taken care of , you would have to look for a place where you will be catered for. “Every individual has aspirations; if your aspiration will not be taken care of in a particular space , you have to change base. “As far as the nPDP is concerned , we want to go into any group where there will be good governance.” http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/06/2019-npdp-gives-conditions-to-resume.html

The Governor commended the management, staff and students of the institution for ensuring stable academic stability in the institution. He therefore said the management of the institution would continue to work harder in order to ensure development of academic programmes of the students. The honorees, according to him, are former President of South Africa, Mr. Thambo Mbeki; the founder of Guaranty Trust Bank, Mr. Tajudeen Fola Adeola, and a popular Ilorin poet and Dadakuada singer, Alhaji Jaiyigbade Alao. While speaking on the choice of the three honourees, Na’Allah said Mbeki who took over from Nelson Mandela as South African President contributed immensely to the growth of African nation, especially in transforming of Organisation of African Union (OAU) to African Union (AU), saying that he would be conferred with honorary doctorate degree in Political Science. He added that Adeola was chosen as an entrepreneur and for his investment in the banking sector especially in the establishment of GTB in 1999 and for helping the country fine-tune the Nigeria Pension Scheme, adding that he would be conferred with honorary doctorate degree in Entrepreneurship.
