Two Children and six adults reportedly lost their lives in a road crash in Benin.

The tragedy which occurred involved a Toyota Haice bus and an articulate truck as residents living around the area weep helplessly over the horrible sights.

It was further gathered that the accident happened when one of the vehicles dangerously overtook another and had a head on collision with an oncoming vehicle.

Witness said that eight died on the spot while those that injured were taken to the hospital by the police.

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Edo Command, Mr Henry Benamaisia, said eight persons died in the accident while four other who sustained injuries are receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

He said the police carry out the rescue operation, noting that investigation is ongoing to ascertain the cause of the accident.

He advised motorists to exercise caution while on the road, especially during wet season.

The Minister for Culture and Information, Lai Mohammed, on Sunday in Lagos handed over the National Theatre to the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Bankers committee for restoration and upgrade.

Speaking at the event, Mr Mohammed said the National Theatre, despite the arrangement, still remained a national heritage.

He said the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture would continue to hold the keys to the iconic national heritage in spite of the Public-Private Partnership arrangement between FG and the Bankers Committee.

”Please permit me to make clarifications that this iconic National Theatre remains a national heritage and will not be ceded to any person or group as some naysayers are insinuating, it remains our national heritage.

”The Federal Ministry of Information and Culture will continue to hold the keys to the National Theatre on behalf of all Nigerians.

”What we are here to do is to handover the National Theatre for restoration and upgrade and also the 134 hectares of fallow land within the premises to the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Bankers committee for development,” he said.

The minister said the PPP arrangement would be in two phases which were; the restoration and upgrade of the National Theatre to its glory days, while the second phase would be the development of the fallow land surrounding the edifice.

”Another good news is that this project will not lead to any single job loss rather, it will create more, over 6,000 jobs will be created during the construction phase while the completed project could generate additional 600 permanent jobs and 2000 to 3,000 jobs, this is a good one,” he said.

Mr Mohammed said the project which had been approved by President Muhammadu Buhari would be a win-win arrangement for everyone involved.

”The place had been left for over four decades without any form of renovation.

”Government has no money to restore the complex as you know, this is the hub of the creative industry in Nigeria.

‘’The National Theatre was established for the advancement of the performing arts throughout the country, to also encourage the promotion of the social development and improvement of the quality of life.

”But its present state is not living to its billing,” he said.

The minister said that the centre, upon upgrade, would comprise creative clusters of fashion, music, film and information technology which would be supported by other facilities including multi-storey parking space to accommodate over 1000 cars.

”There would be the administrative and management offices, this will create massive job opportunities for the youths.

”I enjoin all of us to give our maximum support to this project so that we can bequeath a befitting national heritage to the younger generation.

”I appreciate everyone connected to the success of this project,” he said.

Also, the Minister for Youths and Sports, Sunday Dare, said that it was a privilege for him to be at the event which would see to revamping the creative and entertainment centre.

Mr Dare said many would wonder why the Minister for Youths was at the event forgetting that the youth would benefit more from the project as they are the most active part of the creative industry.

“The potential of the new National Theatre is massive job creation, talent discovery for our youths and the coming generation being an information and technology hub.

”With the Pandemic still biting hard, this project is much more divine and needed to battle the multi-headed challenge of unemployment, criminality and the negative impression that is thrust upon individuals who have chosen the life of crime.

”I commend the Bankers Committee for pioneering the vision and taking the risk to invest in the youth of this country.

”Some may see it as a risk, but I do not see it that way, I see it as an investment, even if it is a risk, it is a risk worth taking.” he said.

The minister commended President Buhari for giving approval for the upgrade of the national heritage.

He also commended other individuals involved in the handing over of the National edifice.

I have an 18-year-old daughter known as Janet. she is a very calm and resourceful girl, or so I thought because of the way she has been able to make a lot of money from working online.

She just gained admission into the university of her choice and she has never for once complained about school. Most times I call her to ask her what she needs, but most times she asks me not to worry.

On one faithful Tuesday, I guess she forgot to lock her door with a key like she always did, so I decided to check up on her. I opened the door without knocking, and what I saw really through me off-guard, it was the most heartbreaking thing any father could ever see.

I saw my daughter unclad speaking to someone on her laptop. She was shocked and quickly went to look for clothes to cover her body. I looked at her screen and I saw a white man who seemed confused.

I could hear him say “baby where are you”.
I was heartbroken, so this is what my daughter was doing to earn some money in school. She was just crying, I called on her mother, and immediately her mother came and I explained she fainted.

"Tucker Carlson Tonight" has resigned after it was discovered that he had been posting racist, bigoted remarks to an online forum for years using a pseudonym.

According to the network, just this week Neff commented on a thread that was created in 2018 by another user with the subject line "Would u let a JET BLACK congo n---er do lasik eye surgery on u for 50% off?"

Neff responded: "I wouldn't get LASIK from an Asian for free, so no."

On June 5, Neff posted, "Black doods staying inside playing Call of Duty is probably one of the biggest factors keeping crime down."

In a June 24 post, he wrote, "Honestly given how tired black people always claim to be, maybe the real crisis is their lack of sleep."

Additionally, Neff reportedly kept a thread for five years where he allegedly denigrated a woman and shared information about her dating life.

Neff was Carlson's top writer and worked at Fox for four years,

having previously been employed at the Daily Caller, the conservative news outlet that Carlson co-founded. Neff also worked as a reporter at The Hill under a fellowship in 2013 and 2014. A Fox News spokesperson confirmed to The Hill that Neff resigned.

Neff did not respond to multiple requests for comment by CNN.

In a recent interview with Dartmouth's alumni magazine, Neff elaborated on his integral role with the show and the influence that show has nationally.

"Anything [Carlson is] reading off the teleprompter, the first draft was written by me," he said. "We're very aware that we do have that power to sway the conversation, so we try to use it responsibly."

Carlson himself has long been popular yet controversial, with the conservative commentator frequently finding himself in hot water because of comments he's made about race in America.

Most recently, Carlson and his show lost a swath of advertisers after he made demeaning comments about the resurgent Black Lives Matter movement following the death ofin Minneapolis police custody at the end of May.

“This may be a lot of things, this moment we are living through, but it is definitely not about Black lives, and remember that when they come for you," Carlson . "And at this rate, they will.”

Fox News later said Carlson was referring to Democrats when he said "they will come for you."

An aggrieved man took to Twitter to lament about how his ex-girlfriend deceived him.

A pained Nigerian man identified as Kefi, on Twitter has opened on how his ex-girlfriend made him engage in dry fast, while sleeping with a pastor when they were dating.

The man made the disclosure after a Twitter user advised that it is important to date someone that draws you closer to God.

According to Kefi, the advise is a scam as he has had his own share of the medicine. He recalled when his ex-girlfriend who was making him do dry fasting for 3 days every month, was sleeping with one of the junior pastors.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has expressed confidence in the ability of the new Board and Management of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC).

Osinbajo was quoted in a statement signed by the Head, Communication and Public Affairs of the Corporation, Mr Mohammed Ibrahim, on Tuesday in Abuja.

According to the statement, the vice-president made the comment when members of the Board and Management of the Corporation visited him in Abuja.

He described the board chairman as an experienced lawyer and NDIC’s Managing Director, Umaru Ibrahim as an experienced technocrat that would steer the corporation in the right direction.

He, however, said a lot still needed to be done in the area of sanitising the banking system.

He stressed the need for fresh ideas that would produce a more resilient structure involving the NDIC and other relevant stakeholders to addressing the issue of non-performing loans in the industry.

He also warned that the Federal Government was not prepared to repeat the mistakes of the past in the sector.

On financial inclusion, the vice president said the government was desirous for millions of poor Nigerians to be empowered through the extension of credit.

He called for concerted efforts of the relevant institutions including the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the NDIC to come up with a framework that would facilitate the funding of Federal Government social intervention programmes.

He listed some of the programmes to include the N-Power, Trader-Money, and Market-Money, which according to him would alleviate the suffering of millions of Nigerians.

In the same vein, the Chairman of the Board thanked the Vice President for his warm reception.

Sokefun recalled that the NDIC as a critical player in the Nigerian financial safety-net, had achieved remarkable success in the execution of its primary mandates of effective supervision of the insured banks.

She said the corporation had also ensured timely payments of insured deposits and the implementation of a robust and efficient failure resolution regime.

A total of seven persons were shot dead today after a deadly bank robbery that occurred at the Isewa Quarters, Ido-Ani, headquarters of Ose Local Government Area, Ondo State.

The robbery reportedly lasted for over an hour on Monday afternoon – the robbers, numbering about six, who arrived in a Sports Utility Vehicle, SUV, attacked the only commercial bank in the town, and carted away an undisclosed amount of money.

According to eyewitnesses, five officials of the bank, as well as two customers who were at the bank’s ATM point were shot dead by the robbers.

They were said to have blown open the bank security door with dynamite after shooting sporadically in different directions.

It was also gathered that one of the robbers was caught by men of the Nigerian Army when luck ran against him while he was trying to escape.
