OLAADEGBU: According to your so called "biblical dating" how long was it between God creating 'heaven and earth' and God creating Adam? This is not known only speculations. But generations from Adam to Jesus is given in detail. The calculations I posted in the excerpts is enough in showing that the world is young, there's no need in confusing yourself with fallible man's ideologies. I have shown you why that calculation does not make sense. What's your issue? Okay, can you defend the excerpts? Let me check if you even understand what they said. |

OLAADEGBU: You have chosen to believe the evolutionist's timeline which I do not subscribe to. For goodness sake i didn't use scientific timeline, i used biblical dating the dating of events solely as described from the bible or are you just turning a blind eye towards this. Your world is 6000 years old right? use your bible and calculate generations up to the time of noah that's about 2500bc and the time of Moses 1400bc, these are deductions solely from the bible. So what are you saying? |

wirinet: What do you mean she is really challenged healthwise and financially? Is there any of us that is not challenged healthwise and financially? How does her being challenged healthwise and financially affect our business transaction? She bought goods worth N300,000 and sold to make a profit. She did not deem it necessary to remit a single naira for the birds she sold. After hiding and remaining incommunicado, without pledging when and how she would pay her debt, she is now giving the challenged healthwise excuse after being threatened with police.
I have been doing business for over 20 years and have been told all sorts. Being challenged healthwise is the most common excuse debtors give for not paying their debts, others are close relatives falling sick or even death of their great grand mother. All these are not valid excuses to renege on your debt obligations.
Are you aware that the refusal of the woman to pay for the goods collected can lead to health-wise and financial challenges for the OP? Do you know if he borrowed the money and has to pay interest on it?
It is still people with your sentimental attitude to business that would still castigate banks for refusing to lend money to small businesses. Hmm, deep. Lesson learnt. |

OLAADEGBU: I can see that you've conveniently evaded the link I suggested that shows the calculation that proves that the earth is young neither do you acknowledge the authority of the Words of our Lord Jesus Christ. For the benefit of those who are sincerely seeking for the truth I'll post the remaining part of the article I posted, which you chose not to study as well as more quotes from Jesus that proves that He was a Young Earth Creationist. For goodness sake, what don't you understand. If we start doubling the population from 2500bc starting from 8 every 150 years. It means after 1050 years that is 6 doubling the population of the world would be (((((8*2)*2)*2)*2)*2)*2) = 512 population. This period(after 1050 years) is 1450bc this was the time the Israelites were allegedly in Egypt as slaves, so this calculation does not make sense. Even if you double it every 40 years it still wouldn't add up. Think my friend, there is nothing wrong in discarding a belief when you see it doesn't make sense. I'm not convincing you to leave Christianity for now, but saying 8 people produced a world of 6 billion in 4000 years does not make sense. |

Science/Technology › Re: Why Exactly Is There No Power In Nigeria? by 4kings: 2:44am On Nov 09, 2017 |
LordeCalifornia: Nice! Okay, you believe that our major problem lies solely in generating power. Going by your analysis, if we can build more generating plants, and of course, power them, then we would finally have constant power. But If that is the case, then I don't think we should really be suffering as we're suffering right now. Because, we sure have the financial resources to build as many coal powered plants as we want to. And talking about refining coal, I don't think the process of refining coal is as complex as that of petroleum. In fact, Coal refining should be as easy as ABC(exaggeration) because you don't need it in fractions, the coal you mine is almost basically the coal you burn, all that is needed is the removal of minor impurities. I really find it difficult to believe that out problem lies in power generation. Because if it is, then, like I've written above, the ministry of power would have recommended the construction of multiple coal plants. If people could loot sum of monies as huge as $9m, $43m, $1.7b easily without trace, then you should know we have so much in our national purse to fund coal powered plants.
Except maybe we are considering the effects of global warming as a reason for not investing in coal powered power plants First of all my post indicated that the problem of the power sector lies in financial/management resources not power generation per se. If our financial resources were allocated to politicians' bank accounts then power infrastructural needs become an issue. My point was that if the power sector was well funded we wont be having these issues, and that the current state of the economy is too weak to make this financial decision. As simple as you describe coal refining, we have NONE in Nigeria because "financial resources" were not adequately going towards this sector after how many years of discovering coal in the east. Though i read early this year that Milhouse is planning to work on that and the investment was $100m. According to the Kemi Adeosun in a conference in lagos(theplatform), upto 90% of federal government's expenditure were recurrent and the remaining was on capital expenditure(that were not even taking seriously sef). This made the possibility of funding projects like this thwarted. And even if they is a willingness now, the financial resources are currently limited and the borrowings we've made have been majorly towards other capital projects. What i'm saying is there is/was no cash going towards that sector, this is the cause of the state of our power sector... More so, i can remember a news when it was reported that Nigerians pay one of the lowest on electricity bill across Africa - just saying. |

greatface: To me I believe it won't cost any of our former presidents or heads of state an average rich man life to give Nigerians constant power.
But who could be so willing to enrich lives as much? I doubt any of their wealth can sustain constant power supply for a country like Nigeria for even 5 years(including Dangote). But hopefully the country grows better. |
Science/Technology › Re: Why Exactly Is There No Power In Nigeria? by 4kings: 10:17pm On Nov 08, 2017 |
LordeCalifornia: Which resources in particular? Financial and managerial resources. At the moment, our minister of finance is pitching to borrow for various projects. The cost(including labor and operating costs) of maintaining/building power plants accross the country isn't cheap. The US generate about 30% of her electricity from coal last time i read, sure we have coal in nigeria but there are no available refineries to take advantage of that. We might have had opportunities to deal with this when we were financially stable but at the moment we can't. I read about a proposed nuclear power plant deal with russia that's also a massive not only financially but can we manage/sustain that? Some compare us to ghana, but i doubt the power generation in ghana can be fit for lagos, and moreso we experienced their inability to financially sustain that, when Nigeria revealed that ghana owed her about 33billion naira in gas supplies. Power generation is an issue accross africa not just Nigeria though some countries are better than others and the challenge is Money and proper management. |

greatface: Yes.
Because of the citizen's orientation. In Nigeria, your yard mate can secretly damage power installation simply because you are watching dstv while he can't afford ordinary manual TV stand antena or because you have deep freezer while he can't afford #1500 electric iron Lol, na wa o. But i think at the moment we don't have the resources for constant power supply. |

OLAADEGBU: The Bible did not record the age of the earth to be 6000 years old because if it did it will have to update it on a regular basis. You're very funny sha. The 6000 years inference was calculated from Adam's generation through seth, abraham, moses, daniel, Jesus and finally our generation. And the maximum value from various calculations by scholars is 10000 years You can argue that the earth is older, but human civilization is at max 10000 years according to your biblical interpretation. So this does not counter my point, try again. |

Christianity Etc › Re: Global Study: Atheists In Massive Decline, Only 1.8% Of World Population By 2020 by 4kings: 6:25pm On Nov 07, 2017 |
budaatum: Yes it does, according to KEB's very loose definition.
You are a babe theist in so far as you deify her, and moreso if you choose to worship her, which by her being 'your babe', and 'deified', you must do!
Do note, you may or may not develop a religion around her to worship her (though, I can't see how you wouldn't), and when you dump her, you will become a babe atheist as far as this particular babe is concerned. Don't mind KingEbukasBlog he can be funny at-times. budaatum: Oh, come on. Surely you understand that he means that first you have to see the thing itself as a god!
Hence, the proper expression a la KEB would be:
Non-belief in a deified universe Non-belief in a deified Sun Non-belief in a deified Moon Non-belief in a deified Julius Caeser
Which makes you an atheist, regarding these deified entities, so far as they are seen as deities by some others.
Today, I went to the bank. There's money in my account, but no where close to the million pounds I believed I had and with which I planned to buy a spanking brand new red Ferrari. I deified this money. It is why I applied 'belief' to it, as odd as that sounds. I am therefore, and for today only, a million pounds I believed I had in my bank account atheist.
By reason a la............. Now this is reasonable. |

Business › Re: Help, How Do I Recover A Debt. by 4kings: 6:13pm On Nov 07, 2017 |
wirinet: My view on this? Well, this is a very trickish situation. Debt is one of the main reasons companies fold up in Nigeria. I have known big companies that was owed billions of naira and had to eventually fold up.
Ordinarily, I would have said take the matter to court, but our judicial system is too slow, too infective and too costly, especially for civil cases. You might be in court for the next three or more years, and at the end of the day, the your debtor might be asked to pay installmentally over a prolonged period of time.
The first rule of business in Nigeria is avoid debts as much as possible, this is my motto after more than 20years of doing business. It is better to take small profit margins and collect your money cash than expect huge profits in debts. Even if you eventually collect your money, the stress would not worth the wahala. Besides with small margins but cash at hand, you can turn over the business multiple times instead of using the time to pursue debt in a single transaction.
Nigerians only understand one language threats. You can use police or even soldier to threaten the debtor. Although lawyers will tell you about the law and the illegality of using police and soldiers, but believe me this is what works fastest. I have seen people use thugs, Oyabo, OPC, etc to collect their debts. Even micro finance and money lenders (Lapo) use police, thugs, etc. Just be tactical about it and do not cause any physical damage to persons and property.
I remember someone owed my wife N30,000 for over one year. One Saturday morning my wife went to her house to draw the debt, the debtor came out ready for a fight, my wife took her down and seized her two phones. Behold, by evening that day she showed up at my door with the N30,000. Thanks. From what i infer you and KingEbukasblog post too, it sad that most Nigerians respond to threats or fear. But well, when a parent think the only way to make a child do the right thing is by inculcating some form of force or fear every time, it's little surprise that this factor is common among the blacks. - Just my thought. |
