The visa cost is high. do i simply forget about going to Australia or any other country all together? |
sure. our past and current system including us all to be thank for this situation. but alas there is hope. from the pits of corruption, poor health care, poor education, high youth unemployment, and bad government, we can rise to become great. |
mrvitalis:The Igbo/Old Eastern region/South East/South south already had their chance at the presidency with GEJ. The Igbo tribe surported GEJ as their own and most still do today. that means we've already had our Ibo presidency. But then i do not subcribe to this zoning thing, because it limits us as a nation from promoting our best. the best candidate for 2019 could be from any state/zone/region, but we'll lose the benefits of having him/her if we continue this zoning thing. And beside, zoning is accually anti-democratic. the people should choose their leaders. with zoning, the system is already manipulated against the peolpe so we'll have no option than to choose from from one zone or region. you can imagine this party already zoning such an importance position almost 3yrs to the election depriving it's self of the opportunity of fishing out excellent persons from other regions. |

In my few years in the social media and studying the Nigerian political landscape, I have observed some anomaly within the different tribes in the southern region/part/protectorate of Nigeria. There is serious division among us even when it is clear that we share many important common values. The Ibos, Yorubas, Benin, Efiks, Ijaws, Isokos, etc all have peaceful nature, and practice the form of religion that preaches peaceful coexistence. Furthermore, we are mostly educated, we promote intellectual excellence and creativity, our different tribes/cultures practice some forms of democratic ideology and above all we are from the old Southern Protectorate/Southern Nigeria [with similar climatic conditions and topography]. On paper, all the above mentioned characteristics should make people see us as homogeneous or at the very least a united people. But even with our shared values, we still display sheer disunity and hatred for each other. This is so obvious that even in our normal everyday conversation; we tend to express our disunity while at the same time promoting the unity of the Northerners. A good example is the way we classify ourselves in Nigeria. We can safely agree that anybody from Sokoto, Borno, Plateau, Kogi, Benue, Taraba, Adamawa, is usually called a Northerner or “Aboki” [No offence intended please]. Are people from Cross River, Imo, Bayelsa, Oyo, Ekiti, Ondo, Edo, generally classified as one southerners in our everyday vocabulary? NO! Instead we switch to the divisive style of tribal identifications of Ibo, Yoruba, etc. to our own detriment. While forgetting that there are as many different tribes in the North as there are here in the South. This is the problem. The tribal division in the south is getting dangerously out of control that if not checked, we run the risk of losing forever our collective advantage in the political structure of this country. A good example is our criticism of public/political office holders. In this new administration, the Ministers and Governors that have come under our “hell fire” of criticisms are; FASHOLA, EMEFIELE, AMAECHI, KACHIKWU and ADEOSUN our brothers and sister from our beloved South occupying in combination the most important portfolios in the nation’s political atmosphere. But we [all from the same South] want to pull them down one after the other. In fact, we can’t wait for all of them to fail and be fired. My Ibo and Ijaw brothers were so happy at Gbajabiamila’s failure to clinch the Speaker position that it stopped just short of a National celebration. In the same vein, my Yoruba folks are waiting for the Glorious day when Emefiele, Kachikwu, or Ekweremadu will be thrown out of office. Furthermore, of all the 36 state governors in Nigeria, Fayose, Oshiomhole, Mimiko, Wike, and Okorocha are the most insulted as if their counterparts up North are not guilty of the same sin with which we want to crucify our own. A critical look at some of our criticisms unmasks the tribal/ethnic motivation in them. As a people, there has never been a record of fight/riot between us proving that we are peace loving people capable of living together and have always done so even before history. But for some sinister reason, we are always happy when one of our own [from another tribe] is innocently attacked and killed by the Fulani herdsmen. When the businesses or shops of one tribe get burnt/collapse, there is silent jubilation in the heart of others. It’s like we here generally wish calamity on one another with the flawed thinking that one tribes downfall is our tribes opportunity to rise. Forgetting that while we are busy plotting misfortune for other tribes in this region, the tribes in the North are uniting to become stronger and taking advantage of our naivety for their own gains. The north has been fashioning their unity into a formidable stronghold in the country and always [at every opportunity] present a united position on national issues. This is also demonstrated in the associations they promote. While they champion and support the Northern Governor’s forum and the Northern Youth forum, and Arewa people’s congress, we in the south are busy with Ohaneze group, OPC, Niger-delta, Ijaw people’s congress, etc. where is the collective unity in such associations? How can each individual group confront the dominant power of the Arewa group? Our Southern governor’s forum is either none existent or is in disarray. Even us the young ones waste our energy, intellect and megabytes to rain insults at each southern tribe here. Curiously, unlike the northerners, most of our elites, politicians and young people are educated, smart and capable of constructive dialogue that can iron out our little differences [if any: I think the differences are artificial rooted in falsehood and fallacy] and merge us into a united Southern people capable of stacking their claims at the national platform. The gains are for us all to have and to share. Who said we can’t have a rail link from Lagos-Ore-Benin-Onisha-PH-Calabar. If the north regards Kano as their major city, then why are some southern tribes not happy with Lagos as our own major city? Why is the Ibo man so keen on having investments moved away from Lagos [even when Lagos is the national hub for investment and talent], and why is the Yoruba man uncomfortable with industrial development in other southern states like Cross River, Anambra [forgetting that the more industrialization/development spread in the south, the better it is for all of us]? You will agree with me that we are the architect of our own problems. It’s not the northerners, or the Fulani herdsmen, or the British [as our Ibo brothers would like to have us believe]. It is our fault! Our own tribal pride, jealousy and bitterness. The Ibo man wish that the Yoruba man fails, the Yoruba man wishes the same for the Ibo man, the Efik man wishes the Ibo man bad luck, the Ibo man returns the same wish. The Ijaw man hopes the Yoruba man runs into trouble and the Yoruba man hopes the same for him, and it goes on and on in circles expanding into every aspects of our society. We can’t move forward or make any significant national impact in this divisive state. Because of our mutual destructive approach, we have been relegated to playing second fiddle/supporting role in a political climate which we were designed to lead and dominate. We have to unite under one banner as “Southerners”. We have to drop our tribal/ethnic sentiments here in the south and form a formidable united entity to champion the collective cause of our people. We have a lot of things going well for us and we share more in common. We are; pro-live [we don’t kill for the fun of it], democratic, progressive, creative, educated and respect our institutions. And above all, we can derive much more gains for our region and people if we are united. So I propose for a start we begin to change the way we identify ourselves by dropping the ethnic/tribal tag [I’m Yoruba, I’m an Ibo guy]. It is divisive and counter-productive to our common aspiration. I prefer “I am a Southerner from Imo state”; “He is a Southerner from Ogun state”. I don’t think it should be difficult for us since we are already comfortable to say “He is a Northerner from Bauchi”. This doesn’t change our respect and value for our various tribes. We are from our states and villages, and we are also from SOUTHERN NIGERIA. #iamasoutherner |

Hello House, I got this mail from the State of Queensland: Your nomination is currently under assessment. In order to progress this application, further information is required: - Evidence of experience with managing shutdowns for resource projects - Evidence of sufficient funds for settlement and a completed financial support and declaration form - Evidence of a positive skills assessment for migration purposes - Statement of your commitment to work and live in Qld - Regional area and postcode - A statement of service from an employer showing the hours you currently work I have two weeks to respond. I have a little question concerning the first item required. How do i provide the evidence requested? Can a letter of introduction from my employer stating my work on shutdown management of resource projects serve as the evidence? How do i write the statement of commitment and how many pages should it be? kindly advice please. Thank you. |
I honestly think OP you have a lot of soul searching to do. You have to look into your actions, attitude and progress. Each word on that text reflects all the things that are wrong in your marriage [No offence intended]. From that text, you're either not progressing the way she hoped for, or irresponsive to her emotional yearnings. These issues are very sensitive in marriage. Ignore your wife at your own peril. 1. Search - What is it that I'm not doing right. 2. Reflect - Do I represent what wife would be proud of? 3. Think - I'm I responsive to her? 4. Cooperate - Do I carry her along with all my plans? I think answers to these and some other questions you may remember will help you understand that it's not only about confronting her, it's more off fixing what is actually wrong. What you see now is the symptom, it is not the actual disease vector. Good luck. God will bless your marriage. Yieldings: |

The fact is that the Igbo people have come to identify themselves with what Biafra symbolize. Considering events that happened in the history of our country, the Igbo people think Biafra is the solution for their problem with Nigeria. Even other tribes in the Old eastern region now identify with this ideology but silently for fear of unsettling the Federal Government. It is for this reason that the federal government will not easily support a referendum. As those tribes on the fence will easily vote YES to Biafra. But what is the REAL SOLUTION? 1. We should switch to regional/Provincial system [5 regions - West, East, Savanna, North West and North East]. This is because the current state structure is divisive, unsustainable, and does not promote economic cooperation. 2. Lets practice representative democracy where we will have (a) Federal Governing council with five members one from each region with equal powers {No vice President}. (b) Regional Governing Council where members come from each constituting state with equal powers. [eg: West with six states will have six members] (c) Crap the NASS structure and create a People's council with each state providing 3 members [more like the current senate system]. 3. Change the ideology of security/law enforcement agents to see citizens as stake holders and not enemies. Military personals on civic duty should be civil and appear on less military attire without GUNS [Guns are instrument of intimidation and you should not intimidate your citizens]. 4. Constitutional reforms and international agreements should pass through a nation wide referendum. this makes the citizens involved and prevents mortgaging the country against the will of the people. If all these are implemented, you will never hear of any secessionist movement from anywhere in Nigeria. Majority of Nigerians [Including Igbo people] want a strong, dynamic Nigeria that practice representative democracy and respects the wills and aspirations of her people. Lajet: |

She may not even stay the full 9 years there in the UK. There is an agreement with Nigeria to deport some people serving time here to finish their prision sentence especially those whose UK visa has expired. She's on a long thing especially if she's deported down here to complete her time in jail. Foolish lady with foolish attitude commiting foolish crime to folishly dent our reputation. euromilion: |
Seun you can't fight any ideology with ban, bullets and violence. History is a great teacher. The colonial masters with supperior fire power could not stop the idea of INDEPENDENCE IN AFRICA. You need a better ideology to win. The funny thing is that in the case of Biafra, you have a better ideology. Your tribe had once clamoured for it - TRUE FEDERALISM! That is the ANSWER. If you continue on this weak and foolish path of banning, you will end up making nairalanders fanatic about this biafra issue. Even business wise, it wouldn't help you. In a world where social media use issues like this to attract traffic on their site, you choose to do the opposite in the most irresponsible manner. I hope you don't regret this action.

RIP bro. You had no option of either accepting or rejecting this assignment. Because rejecting it would have ment deserting the NA. I think this is a really challenging time to be a military officer in this country. As the global war on terorrism escalats with Nigeria in the midst of it, i fear for the officers in our armed forces. In my opinion, i think it's a strategic move by BH to target senior officers. This is because it's a time tested strategy of destabilizing any group and gaining advantage in battle. In as much as succession plans are in place for events like this, the group may not be fully prepared for the sudden lose of their leader. |
i honestly hope this news is not true, because the loss of 105 officers in a single battle will be a monumental disgrace to our entire military and a significant dent to our integrity as a nation in this war against BH. But i also think the NA are not giving us the real truth. If you have close friends or relatives in the military, kindly ask them of what they think of the battle? [Simple Question:Are we winning or lossing?] You will get sense of what has become of our situation in this country. There is fear everywhere even in the military. Officers are fasting, praying and even lobbying for them or their unit not to be posted to the battle field. Pray for Nigera. |
Manweysabi:Oh Mate....sorry to hear this. But I think that was hash from them. I applied to the same VETASSESS. I studied in FUTO [5years]. I hope they look kindly towards my assessment because this news is sending chills down my spine. |
Icecomrade:My bro...na only you talk watin make sense. They have the software and as such they determine the price of the deal. If Nigeria is not happy about it then it's good. We can commission our Politicians, Senators, House of reps, Ministers, and Party officials, even our University lecturers to develop one for us. If any one think their service is expensive, then wait until we contract a foreign firm to handle it. |
Hello House, I just got my IELTS result and I'm waiting for VATESSES on my assessment. I intend to apply for the 190 visa. Could anyone please advice me on what to do while I await the outcome of my assessment. thank you. |
