Ntel is a massive mess. Even with subscription it's unusable except you change your DNS to Google dns


Don't use the app, use a web browser to subscribe. Had the same experience for 5 days last week on two different devices.


Managed to get lucky on Friday, both went through.

And harass them with DM on Twitter. Don't insult or yab them, just keep sending

'please subscribe Bleep plan on 0804xxxx'

every time you remember.

Gnome 3 didn't agree with my ancient hardware(kept freezing) plus my dislike of that DE is known. Ubuntu moving to it was a bummer for me.


Used it a bit though, then ran into some funny issue I can't exactly recall so I switched.


To be fair though, my Neon experience has been meh. In that it is exactly what it was when I installed it. Haven't done more than install a few apps and copy documents onto it.

Haven't tweaked a thing. Not even changed a setting.

Only had one issue with the file indexer. Took a while to index the over 50k documents I had on it and was slowing it down.
I later found out that was the issue and would pause it when i needed to use the PC . But when it completed the index, it's been fine ever since.

Doesn't get in my way so I'm good

The front camera is just fine, provided you aren't taking pictures in low light. Na low light be enemy of budget camera.

Otherwise e be like say u go buy pixel 2 or S9.



Turn off the beautification. Tap that magic wand icon you see on the screen when you switch to front camera and select zero.

Go into settings and change the picture quality to High, Sharpness to High, Contrast to High.

Set HDR to Auto.



If you see the portrait shots I've been using to oppress dem on Instagram with that same front facing camera.

So I finally got hold of my redmi note 5 from maceybyland, very nice dude.
I updated the software to mui 9.5.13.0 immediately I inserted my sim. However, I noticed that the battery is not as good as y'all are taunting to be here. My redmi 4x battery lasts longer compare with note 5 pro. Heck even my old fashioned redmi 4a battery would give this note 5 run for it's money.
Could this be software issue or the battery isn't good?

probably the network you are using on the phone has bad service in that your vicinity and thats what is draining your battery faster.

i'm doing 8hrs SOT on that phone with low brightness. i have dual 4G on sef, NTEL/MTN

i didn't turn off the MIUI optimizations yet sef.

Here is a video I made on how to get ntel working on Xiaomi devices on any miui version. Unlike the other method I saw on this thread, this works whether your sim is on sim 1 or 2, or even if it's the only sim in the phone.

First of all, select ntel as the data sim and input ntel APN, now you just need to get to the *#*#4636#*#* screen, then enter the 'Phone information' of your ntel sim.
Now switch on Airplane mode.

If the network mode is on LTE Only, switch it to any other network mode.

But if it is already on any other network mode aside LTE Only, just disable Airplane mode, and quickly switch it to LTE Only before the ntel signal appears. The network signal will be stable. That is the trick.

But if you don't quickly select LTE Only before network signal pop up, it will disappear.

Basically, unlike other methods, this only takes 5-10 seconds to get it working.

Seems that *#*#86583#*#* did the trick for me.

When I did that it came up.

Even volte symbol came. But volte calls don't won't sha. If I try to call out the signal disappears. Data works fine though

Interestingly, it's on Android 8.1 out of the box too.

If you are looking to cop one I suggest you quickly get one from macbeyland and bypass the 4 weeks waiting thingy for real. This device is too sweet for long thing.
