Did you consider changing the rom to AOSP one?

Fully recommend the Pixel Experience ROM.

Save your money, cos these your complaints simply are a result of not being familiar with the quirks of MIUI. Most of these things can be solved by changing some settings in it.

But seeing that even the UI design is not to your taste, just switch the ROM . There's nothing wrong with the hardware

Meanwhile your spectranet issue has little to do with the ROM/Device.

I started using spectranet recently and I experience that same issue on multiple devices I connect to the Mifi.

Which one? Are they getting 4G speeds?

Cos sometimes it's just the Sim that shows 4G, and not really that it's connected to 4G

Note the modem hardware ID

modprobe usbserial vendor=0x...... product=0x.......

that loads the module, the modem will be residing at /dev/ttyUSB0, /dev/ttyUSB1, /dev/ttyUSB2. To check, do:

ls /dev | grep ttyUSB

If nothing turns out, then wait. It can take anywhere from 30 seconds to a whole minute. Once you are sure there are these ttyUSB entries in your /dev, just use your default connection client to connect.

Uhmm. You don't need the windows exe to use a modem on any Linux distro.

Have you checked the Simple Network Manager app on Puppy? There's a section for dial up modems

All you need to do is setup the parameters.

The dial up number is *99#

Tomorrow I'll post screenshots of it to you. Unfortunately I no longer have or use dial up modems. But when we used to years ago this was no big deal.

Matter of fact if you search this thread you should see examples using Ubuntu network manager.

The network manager has dial up capability.

stick with Puppylinux.

no other distro will run ok on that thing. no point is suffering yourself.

do a full drive install of puppy. You can switch to Puppy LXDE for a bit of polish. besides Puppy now lets you install stuff from ubuntu repos directly so you aren't really missing anything
