am igbo speaking as well. There are loads of Igbos in london |
Donzman:No,gas fired power stations are not the causes of smog, corroded zinc roofs, poor soil and asthma.Let me put it this way, here in London they burn more fuel than in the whole of Nigeria but yet the quality of the air is still much better than in Lagos. Most of these things are caused by the old vehicles we drive in and emissions from factories not the Egbin power station Donzman:Zuwo,if a nation that has neglible impact on global warming were to invest in costly technology it will have neglible impact on global warming. |
The overwhelming majority of Nigerians cannot afford those smaller wind turbines. Fossil fuel is largely responsible for global warming but the major polluting nations are reluctant to act.A poor nation like Nigeria won't make a dent in the increase in global warming. We should not invest in something that will have no appreciable impact on the planet when the major nations have not come round to the idea The foul air in Lagos has nothing to do with the power stations in Lagos. If Nigeria was to miraculously turn exclusively to renewable energy at the expense of all our gas resources,it will not make any impact on the snow levels in Colorado. |
The most annoying thing about the Nigerian political process is that we don't know anything about the proposed policies of the aspirants. what are Yar Adua's proposed policies and how do they differ from the rest Anyway in a sense ,it does not matter. We don't have a choice at the end of the day |
Am still not convinced that wind power represents value for money. If it was the case, the rich nations would be investing more in it than they do in traditional sources of power. A poor nation like Nigeria has to use its resources in the most financially efficient way possible In the UK,communities regularly resist siting of wind turbines in their area because it takes up so much land space. If you can't find land in Northern England, where will you find it in LAGOS |
So let me get this, you are surprised she does not want to be the girlfriend of a criminal ![]() |
@Tornadoz Let me try and wade through your miasma of incoherence Tornadoz:This is pure gibberish.Neither you nor I know what Bush thinks of Black people in private.Do you have psychic powers? How are you sure your much loved Clinton does not think lowly of Black people .How come he never appointed Blacks to positions of high authority.Name one significant Black appointee in the Clinton Adminstration Tornadoz:Idiots agree with idiocy.Which idiot won't agree with the idea that every country should seek to acquire nukes? An idea that everyone in the field of International relations do not subscribe to Tornadoz:This is what happens when you try to debate ignoramuses. There are 188 nations that are signatories to the NPT.The US is just one of 188 nations.A nation signed an agreement undertaking not to develop nukes,it could have chosen ab initio not to. Tornadoz:The first resort of intellectually challenged people is to resort to ad hominen attacks.Let me descend to your level. It seems you are anally fixated. Listen, anal man,the issue of nuclear proliferation is an issue of International Law and International Relations. You have not made a single contribution on this thread that addresses the substance of the proliferation regime.Obviously an intellectual debate is beyond your capacity. Tornadoz:This is imbecillity in its purest form. My point about global attitudes towards Black is to illustrate the fact that because most people dislike a man or a people does not in itself justify their dislike .This was in reference to your point about how everyone hates the Bush adminstration.A viewpoint is not justified because it is shared by many I had a hard time addressing your comments. It is difficult debating with intelligent people at University and then coming to debate nitwits on the net |
Using gas powered power plants is value for money Wind energy power plants costs far more than most other alternatives. That is part of the reason it is hardly used |
Maybe he calls her only 10 times a day and she wants it to be 20 ![]() |
jagunlabi:From a small thing called history. Christianity has been in Africa since the Ist century producing 3 Catholic Popes and theologians like St Augustine For God's sake ,we have Had Christianity in the continent long before Islam came into existence |
The President of the United States speaks only one Language and even then he struggles at it |
@Jen33 Christianity has been in Africa longer than it has been in Europe |
@Tornadoz I can see you have an ally who thinks that another Nairaland user was better off a dead man because he disagreed with him Gave up indeed,in other threads he has refered to others as "dogs","evil men".You will notice that most people who respond to him are ,like you, only those who agree with him unless they are new to this forum and don't know him One last thing, you made the point that most of the world thinks lowly of Bush.Great, most of the world think badly of Black people, perhaps that means that their thinking is justified |
The title of the thread is misleading. It is based on a story that is attributed to anonymous Congressional sources. These anonymous Congressional sources are often quoting equally anonymous Congressmen This is voodoo journalism in its most shameless form |
Tornadoz:Yes,most Black people live in Africa.Between a President who cut aid to Africa and one who tripled it,I know who I prefer. Tornadoz:A neo con is a leftist who is hawkish on foreign policy.Bush is not a neo con Tornadoz:African Americans are almost exclusively Democrats, they will vote a White Democrat rather than a black Republican.African Americans voted Ben Cardin ahead of M.Steele in the last election ensuring that Jews who are 3% of the populace have 11 Senators while Blacks who constitute 11% have only one(Obama) Tornadoz:Who cares?Do Europeans care if a particular politician is liked by Africans Tornadoz:The mayor of New Orleans(Black) and the Governor for whom primary responsibility lies for evacuation did nothing. The Fed Govt can only help when the states request it,that is why most Americans attach greater blame to the Mayor and the Gov than the President. Most people who died in Katrina were not Black Tornadoz:Bush's policy is nothing new and predates 9/11.It is largely driven by Evangelicals who say it is a moral duty to help. Tornadoz:You are right.Action speaks louder than words and actually doing something about a continent is much better than Clinton's charm offensive that is full of rhetoric while cutting aid. Charity begins at home for me as well.Whoever does something for my homeland(Africa) is more important than perceived failings in a foreign land |
lewa:They should write in a neutral language then-Igbo ![]() Seriously, they should only write in English. We don't want them writing in 250 languages How about Latin for the Catholics,if Muslims get their Arabic we should get Latin for Catholics.Besides, isn't English discrimination in favor of Anglicans?Ok,what about Japanese? Let the inscriptions be in Japanese then, that way no one will feel discriminated against This is why I think I should be President of this country, who else can stay up at 3am wondering about his country? |
na proper pro bono work the guy dey do ![]() |
@Debosky A homophobe is someone who is prejudiced against gay people.Am not prejudiced against them All I want is for people, gay or straight,to observe standards of fidelity. If you are gay stick to gay people and stop pretending u are not.The gay cause is not advanced by prominent people playing hide and seek with their sexuality U Arsenal people know nothing about fidelity, your players are keen to go to another club(sorry,i coudn't resist) |
Ruud has past his prime, that is why Fergie cooled towards him Some of the rumours sorrounding Ronaldo maye be due to ongoing contract negotiations with Utd.The more the agent feeds the rumor that he has an offer from Barca, the more pressure is put on Utd to sweeten the pay rise. If the transfer goes through,we can still easily replace him with the huge transfer fee we are getting in exchange |
Dress well?If that man was in Ku kLux Klan costume,he will still look gay |
Nobody who has left Utd since Fergie came in has achieved greater success in their new club than at Utd |
None.Just speaking generally. But the John Legend fella looks "suspicious" |
There are people who are genuinely attracted to both sexes(bisexuals),then there are people who are gay but are hiding it by sleeping with women |
@Debosky If they fail to come clean even though they are gay, they perpetuate the culture of silence that helps spread HIV.It is better that they come clean and stick literally to fellow gaymen than to want to keep up the facade and simultaneuosly sleep with both sexes The so called low down brothers or is it down low |
I don't think you can use the terms "believe" and "Nigerian Govt" in the same sentence. |
