Exactly, that was a good approach on your path for the safety of your kids and your household, come to think of it, of what use is having a house and you are scared of sleeping in the house to avoid been butchered, I don't blame anyone who decides to sell off his property due to the endemic insecurity in the country, whenever I visit Nigeria, l sleep in different hotels in lagos and they all have mobile policemen stationed in the hotel guarding the place, l don't sleep in my house in Nigeria, l just sneak in to visit people and I keep all my movement discreet from everyone until I vammoose out of the country again, the most shocking news of recent is that 21 states in Nigeria have been declared unsafe for western visitors and that connotes a total state of anarchy / insecurity if you ask me, what do I know, they say we should keep praying for Nigeria, hmmm, I beg to differ, prayers doesn’t develop any nation neither does it stop insecurity, politicians in Nigeria and some religious leaders are going about with armed escorts but they tell the poor masses to keep praying for the safety of the country, what a joke grin
Prayer?
I pray so tee I abandon religion and started using common sense grin grin cheesy

We know how the inside of all these big churches work na cheesy

U want to know about church and it's politics with shenanigans, strive to be among the inner caucus in admin.
All biz, my dear, all biz.

The country is in serious shambles. People are very depressed and it's showing in their behaviours. Aggressiveness and outbursts.
And believe me, nothing will happen. It's very painful that's why if anyone knew any genuine way to run away, I will encourage the person to run

When the word Visitor is attached to a visa, it doesn't have any working right whatsoever. Only him knows where he got his idea from.

There are other temporary visa with working rights which may also have limitations but visitor's visa is definitely not one of them.

bro please list these temporary visa ...

Lol at you prayed and started using your common sense Well said, l agree with the issue of depression you stated as well..

l use to have an ex but she is married to another person now with 3 kids, she was working in one of the 3 oldest bank in Nigeria and she was a senior level management official, as I type this, she ran away with the kids to the US although it was planned with the husband

The husband left few years ago, they are all settled now in the US, l tried to discourage her when she hinted me about the move considering that she had a good job and with several trainings / benefits, years of banking experience etc, she was robbed at 3rd mainland bridge and that was the last straw that finally broke the carmels back, she was lucky to survive the incident, and she already has visas for her 3 kids to the US, she just sold off whatever they had in Nigeria and left last year, she is in the US now, she said that she and the husband are not coming back again, that is just one out of the thousands of middle / senior class citizens leaving the country

Even on this platform, so many patriotic citizens supporting the useless politicians in power are just been petty because down in their hearts, they know that it is not yet uhuru for the country, and that the country is dead completely, depression, hopelessness, starvation, unemployment, hunger, kidnapping, bokoharam, cultism, ritualism, robbery, senseless killings has rendered the country as one of the unsafest place to live on earth and Nigeria is on the same pedestal with failed states like Afghanistan, Yemen, Syria, South Sudan, Libya and Somalia.

@4mykids , since you have narrowed down your choices to either Canada or Australia, don't look back, don't listen to Nigeria go better crew, don't listen to any bulshit stories from anyone, arrange yourself and work towards Canada, also ignore private messages from some posters on here to avoid been a victim to fraudsters, follow both the Canadian and Australian thread and gather relevant information and flee from the current headquarters of extreme poverty in the world, 6the most miserable country on earth and also a country where 21 states has been declared unsafe for western visitors, good luck with your decisions cool

Professionals are running away.
So many of them.
Nigeria is greatly bleeped up. Even the air people breathe is filled with lots of impurities.
Go to the north and see what fulanis are doing to the minority tribes. It's not only Hausa and fulani we have up there. Even hausas are not spared.

Sighs.

North ke, my first degree was in the oldest University in the North, NYSC was also in the North, then North was really north, safe, secured, cheap foods like Suya, gurasa, burodi, brabisko, waina, Tuwo masara / shinkafa, kunù zaki, fura dai nono, rice, beans, maize etc.

l could go anywhere in the northern part of Nigeria without fear but today, it is a battle ground for religious extremists, fueled by greedy politicians and they are making billions of naira in the compromised bokoharam war, troops are killed like rats, no solid concrete strategy to keep the country safe, and the clueless government is holding series of meetings with governors and different stake holders and no end in sight on how to secure and protect lives and properties, and the poor masses are dying daily from bokoharam / herdsmen / kidnappers almost on a daily basis, prayers is been offered daily in churches / mosques / voodoo centres for Nigeria.to get better but the reverse is the case

Politicians are drinking champagne and sleeping at Sheraton Abuja / lagos with imported foreign women, nothing tangible is been done or seen by Nigerians that things will get better but you see people online shouting Sai baba, Sai PDP, Sai DDD but sleep without electricity at night, get killed via road accident due to bad roads, dilapidated infrastructures nationwide and they keep telling me Nigeria go better, that is bulshit stories.

Nigeria is not getting better but it is slipping daily into a place to avoid completely or else you get consumed by the country, due to all l said above, western embassies have tighten up issuance of visa to Nigerians, so lots of people are pretty much stuck in the country, and you hear them say continue to pray for Nigeria, not me, l rather pray for my dog called Jack because I trust my dog more than Nigeria as a country grin

The contention here is not about countries but about the individual who is moving.

Many diaspora Nigerians are not making it due to many factors. I don't have an exact data on percentages for this statement.

Some guys are derailing the thread but comparing countries. Even if it's comes to that, many struggling diasporans will prefer to reverse the time to go back to the old life here in Nigeria.
please, give some live examples cause i cannot imagine that happening

Plenty sources for struggling diasporans not restricted to only Nigerians. YouTube, Facebook, Quora have some of these stories.
The thing is according to someone above, plan yourself well or else you could be going from frying pan to fire.

"There’s a joke in Toronto that the best place to have a heart attack is in a cab because there’ll be a doctor driving that cab,” said Margaret Eaton, executive director of the Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council.

Npower program is not being continued as promised,
now the executive is in control of ALL arms of goernment with 4 yeears to go,
NNPC MD now northerner too..

clearly, NEPOTISM is moving to the NEXT LEVEL.

let's go and see that fire over there.

Fire ke in Canada, that is not possible, even if you see fire in Canada, there are governmental support systems to cushion and quench the fire, Canada is not a bad country by all known international standards / indices of quality living , they care for the welfare of everyone, even if you don't find your kind of job on arrival, you can get something to do to sustain yourself until you find your feet, it is better to face Canada with all the so called fire than remain in the real fire that will likely consume anyone back in the jungle grin

Migration is good but prepare in case it doesn't go well. If i must migrate for example, I will need to move with a large capital to start a business to avoid all these horror stories.
One of my friends in Canada advises one to start even a Tea Cafe in busy cities like Toronto and thats what they do and earn far more money than a 9-5 job.
Immigrants must take advantage of the credit system to create wealth, he says. Most don't even know all these and end up frustrated in a foreign land.
They are even stories of some not getting jobs for 6 months upwards.

Cyberknight has laid it out for you. Like you said... it is a bitter pill to swallow. My advice... swallow that pill. You wouldn't want to drag your kids with you... only to find out what you had in mind cannot work. Then what?..what will be your plan B? Travel... get a feel of the place.. maybe get settled... then you will know when you can have your children with you. People have left their children behind.... how long does it take before they finally send for them? Why? Look well before you leap or you may lose your children to the State.

You can never heal better by relocating another man kids to another country. My advise might be harshed, have seen ladies of your kind who indulge in such action and they 100% loss at the end. Mind you, you can never poison them against their, one things or the other will lead them to need their father more than you can imagine. You don't know the power in blood, it's very strong and it's the sovereign (God) that knows its mystery. You will be a looser at the end either you are dead or alive with this move of yours.

Stop harassing this woman you creep. What is your problem? Typing in bold and she's not even replying you. Do you know if her life is in danger and that is why she needs to move? Do you think that it is normal for a Nigerian court to give a woman full custody? That should tell you something about the father. I am 100% sure you're a deadbeat and that is why you have been harassing her from page to page, typing the same danm shtt. What a nuisance.

Hello fam....
All my brothers are UK citizens ....Am still pursuing my bsc in Nigeria planning to move to Uk as well after my program .....please i want to ask ...wil I be granted visa easily courtesy d fact that my siblings are uk based citizens ..........I ask this cos i heard that obtaining visa is hard...

Permanent residency if you have UK ties is 5 years. If not, it will be 10 years through any other means apart from marriage and work visa. So, yes, you have a chance.

I have got no time for kids here. If you where mentally matured enough and rational, then you won't condescend to this level of childishness which is the typical characteristic of lots of kids like you roaming on this platform.

If you still can't comprehend what I meant by " My relocation was stress free" then I can't help you and if that is what constitutes illegality to you then I can only sympathize with your comprehension deficiencies.

Grow up.
Superb reply, boss. I am following you already. I hope to migrate to the West one day too. I already have my B.Sc.

@moneymin, you must be very stupid for your post. Must you comment if you do not have something sensible to write from your empty head. What's your own with her personal life. Are d kids yours or are u their father?. If she migrates with d kids what's your business there you this son of a bitch. You this educated illiterate. If you don't know, she has d physical custody of her kids nd can travel nd go anywhere with them.
Re: A Single Mum Wants To Relocate Abroad, Needs Ideas by Moytim: 2:40pm On Aug 21, 2021
@4mykids, not everyone on nairaland is well mentally. You don't need to write details here. Nd u don't owe anyone explanation for your decisions. sad

It will be better if you have a host anywhere you'd like to migrate to so as to ease your expenses. It's a good idea nd I understand what you're going through. Alot of people discouraging you here too will grap any opportunity they see to leave.

Life itself is a risk, and anyone who can not risk, can not achieve. Don't be discouraged to take a move. You're a woman, you have greater opportunities there.

Canada or United States will be good for you. All best in your plan!
