Use of English does not determine the level of intelligence. If you visit some countries in Europe or Asia you will see a lot of brilliant and intelligent professionals in various fields that speaks and write terribly but that does not mean they're not up to task in their specializations. If you are well travelled you will get used to ignoring grammatical blunders (ignore mine) I don't know why Nigerians are so addicted to English Language.... It's only in Nigeria that they will doubt the competence of a doctor or an engineer because of his/her use of English. You can study these courses in other languages too... This shouldn't trend at all
. You are not normal just like the person who wrote the letter, if you can't communicate with our common lingua Franca, how do you write exams and pass, if the person is so good with french he should have written with it, our language of study in Nigeria is English, if an undergraduate or a graduate can't communicate with it how can he/she write exams and pass, no wonder we now have some body who had credit in only hausa and Arabic as our cjn, we all saw how he technically transited from the cjn to being a pilot in a minute.

He was quiet rude with his reply, but he made a point don't use the back of your hand to wave of grave mistake and blunders. You mentioned Asia and co having great minds but don't speak good English, fine English isn't the official language in those countries. We all know English is our official language here and anybody occupying such a position should at least command good use of English both written and oral, But with that letter up there I can bet that man can't write a complete sentence devoid of blunders and error.

I wish you made reference to professionals in English speaking countries.
Why should I judge a French, German or Russian professional by their ability to speak English?
Come on guy, English is the lingua franca of Nigeria. If despite being taught English for at least 12 years from primary 1 to SS3, one could still be as poor as that in their use of English, what is the proof that they actually have adequate professional knowledge?
If you can't make a reasonable communication in English, how can you teach others, and how can you lead or head an organisation or a unit? How can you write reasonable proposals or plans?
My dear, it's much more complex than you make it seem.

How many times will they say this letter is fake?

Everything from the header is wrong.

We don't have SKIKA in Zaria. We have Shika.

ABUTH don't have a postgraduate diploma in primary health care. This I can confirm.

@OP, verify information before posting and not for clout sake.

And before you come for my head, I'm not a graduate of the school. I just happen to know my way very well around the school and know almost everything about it.

1. It's Ahmadu not Ahmedu

Seriously bro. I'm most disappointed in the stupid mod that pushed this to FP and the useless OP that can't hide his hatred for the North.

The senior so-called staff of ABU who wrote this letter should be arrested and stripped of the honour of working in a university and prosecuted in a competent court for impersonation, His degree must be investigated, His teachers arrested and prosecuted, he should be banned from representing Nigeria in any capacity and subjected to a national ridicule

For those saying nyenye nye about the schools in the north? Stop deceiving yourselves.

I attended schools in the north, and if I have to choose between government schools up in my home state and what I am used to in sokoto state, I will definitely choose my school in sokoto state.

I am not saying there are no persons like that, but make we learn face matter as matter be.

The educational system in beloved naija needs to be fixed, but with less emphasis on language, especially English. Let's grind and hone technological skills that would enable us build our own space crafts and write their manuals in Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba languages, drill and refine our own oil and most importantly, learn to love ourselves irrespective of tribe or creed.

Someone from nowhere can form the letter with the DR's name on it. it now lies on the Hon chairman to detect a fake letter.

I even read someone up there saying ABU cut off mark is 50. WTF. angry

It's ignorance bro. Who do you expect from someone still sucking his mamas breast?

He will surely show how stupid he is.

Someone that have never left the convenience of his home can never know what's going on outside.

ABU have never gone lower than the standard 180 cut off mark but he comes here to display his ignorance.

A wise man once said "a man who doesn't read is in no way different from a man who cannot read"!.
As a firebrand product of ABU Zaria ,I am pushed to defend my school; even though I know this is a joke.
Let me point out some obvious facts;
1) School name ; Ahmadu Bello not ahmedu bello
2) The teaching hospital affiliated to the school is located at Shika and not skika.
3) Alot of dents to point out to any intelligent folk who wants to debate with me
Lastly the writer is either a joker or he or she is suffering from schizophrenia and manifesting one of the symptoms of schizophrenia; tangentiality and word salad......
ABu Zaria may have rested a little on it oars, but let me say this loudly in a quiet tone; We still Great!.
Maybe the typist or whosoever that's in charge of letterhead papers can be responsible for the errors you noted.

Dude chill.
What language was the said man taught In since cradle?
Assuming the above letter was a mistake from his secretary, what happened to proof reading before appending his signature?
This pathetic. Call a spade a spade.

I'll never bash anyone for bad English. I've a friend born and brought up in New York she can't write good English but speaks very well. Sometimes your environment matters forget what he Learnt in cradle if his environment doesn't compliment what he learnt in school it'll affect him that's for sure. Kids who grow up in Ghettos find it difficult to speak good English. English is practice makes perfect. If you communicate with it on a daily basis you'll get used to it.

My point is that speaking bad English never makes you less intelligent it's vice versa. We should focus more on creativity, good decision making than just speaking. Some people might be empty but speaks fluently.

Only an English language teachers are expected to be 100% in English but other related courses is not much of an issues as long you can communicate. Not like support it but my emphasis is that we shouldn't focus too much on just speaking.

I am sorry but you are not making any sense. I study in a country in Europe that does not have English as it's official language, yet almost all my professors and teachers are good in written and spoken English. Some grammatical blunders can be tolerated but this is absolute rubbish. You, your analysis, and your base of argument are all nothing but a joke.
......and just so you know, the ability to learn a foreign language is a proof of intelligence. Even the professors in these countries you speak of are fluent in whatever is their first language. For someone who has English as his official language and has probably been taught English all his life, this is nothing but a show of shame.

The attached, is a letter written by a senior staff of School Post Graduate studies (Diploma), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, that has been trending in the social media.

The letter, dated and signed by one Mohammed D. Nasir, the course coordinator, in favour of a youth Corp's member, infact has a lot to tell the world that something is really wrong with our education system.

A course coordinator in the "almighty" Ahmadu Bello University, appending his signature to a badly written letter, without reading or really read it, yet despatched same as having been rightly written?

Please, read this letter and let's hear your opinion on same.
don't you think it might be a typographical error? Noone might check again except those look for mistakes to publish
