First of all I think it’s disrespectful for your husband to be telling you to go get mama put beans to mix with your food whenever you cook rice.... for him to even have the mouth to tell you sef after the stress of cooking shows he doesn’t care about your feelings.

If it’s me I will stop going o he should go and buy it himself or worse still arrange for home delivery ... it’s outrightly disrespectful... who does that Biko if you didn’t cook it’s understandable ... not fair at all pls

Your husband is such a polite gentleman. His kind is rare and he thinks so much about how you'd feel and that's why he won't tell you truth.
That is so wrong of him but Hanty, NwaAmaikpe is here to serve you that long hidden truth.

You are a pathetic cook and he is being too civil to say it. Dude cares so much about it not coming off the wrong way so he'd communicate indirectly and expect an intelligent you to get the subliminal message.

Sadly you don't.

Your colleagues only tolerate your meal because it is free. I don't think they'd eat past a spoon if they were paying for it.
You also don't expect them to criticize it because very few are like us.

I once had a colleague back then who always brought food for me. One day I decided to give it a try.
I tasted the beans and it was like raw carbide mixed with Cameroon pepper.
Anyways, I was courteous enough to tell her to send an assassin instead of trying to kill me with food.

Ewa should be the easiest thing for you to cook....so if he keeps requesting for Iya Basira's ewa, it is so that it can help neutralize the effect of the remaining of your edible poison in the rice and stew.

Please be a virtuous woman.
Be a wife,
And be a mother to that poor man.
It's not fair that you have to send him to Sokoto to get what is in his shokoto.
It's also not fair that you waste his resources to build office relationships.

It is from clapping that the best dances emanate.
Today, you feel obliged to feed your colleagues.
They now eat daily from your cooler. I hope very soon they won't be eating out of your honeypot as well?

He is under lock and key but the blood of Jesus can set him freeze. It is not ordinary. Read your bible and seriously and heartfeltly pray for him

Babe, even though I don't classify all weird things as being spiritual, why not try prayer. Cos from what I deduce from your write up, it's really really bothering you. Use Numbers 23:23 to pray for your husband. IT REALLY WORKS!

Absolutely prayers do work, but the same Bible you quoted as said prayers without works is ...... In otherwords, sister twenty8 needs to balance the equation, and seek help from where she normally go and buy the Ewa' from, as in to know how it's been prepared, so she can emulate it.

Yup! Igbo cuisine, they add crayfish to everything, even Jollof rice.

I cooked beans today with blended crayfish (Mamatukwas special), with plantain cooked in the mix (my excess plantain that has gone too soft)........

Yum yum yum....... Ate some and packed the remaining in the freezer, for future choppings.......

So me and my man been married for a year now but here's the thing he does that pisses me OFF!!! TOTALLY!!!! ehn, every time I cook rice and stew (fried stew/fish/meat) he'd ask me to go outside the estate to go and buy Ewa(beans) (I'm using Ewa because that's how he pronounces it. So I noticed this earlier and I started Cooking beans anytime I cook rice. He'll still request for 'Ewa' the Mama put beans made and sold by the roadside

While we dated he'd even ask me to cook for himself and his friends and if my cooking was bad, I'd have gotten feedback somehow.. how can I serve food and he'll ask me to go get 'Ewa' at Shangisha Outside Magodo Gra to mix his rice even when we have visitors he will send me a whatsapp message to still go get Ewa most times he'll even book uber if i tell him I'm too tired to drive I'm tired of going to buy Ewa!!

How do i get to know what the problem is, because it's definitely not my cooking, 2 of my office buddies they don't buy lunch because i bring enough food for 3 of us everyday and they'd have stopped eating it if it was bad

You are married to a Yoruba man.

They just can't eat rice alone. It's just this weird belief that eating rice alone is bad except you add EWas to make it balance diet. (Which isn't true).

Just the same way I can't eat rice alone without banana sliced in.

So what you'll do is cook EWA anytime you cook rice.

Wrong assumption

I dont eat rice mixed with beans and I am yoruba

So... just make sure you have Ewa in the house everyday from the place he likes. You have freezer abi? Buy one week supply, and warm it up upon request. No need for long stories or feeling bad. No need for prayers, consultations, or heart-to-heart talk. It's like making sure you have beer and small chops around. No biggie.

You asked for advice: here's some.
If you asked for debate or argument, eheh, we can have a debate.

You have a husband who really don't want to hurt your feelings. The request is weird and crazy but maybe you need to find out how to cook to his taste. Also, those two buddies at work are not married to you, they are getting awoof food and won't complain. You should also get the ewa for him before he even ask for it. Seeing that before asking for is good for both of you. I bet there are things you do that piss him off too but that's why you are in marriage.
Re: Please Help My Husband Does This Weird Stuff by saajus: 11:47pm On Aug 13
You have a great husband. Please, don't use this Ewa matter lose him. Try the following but don't kill urself over this small matter;

- Try and cook yours exactly like that Mama put Ewa.
- If you don't get the recipe, use woman strategy talk to Mama put that you will like to know her recipe. You can even hang out with Mama in her shop in one free Saturday.
- If your husband still like Mama put Ewa, please continue. When God bless your family and you guys relocate to Banana Island, I think your husband will have no choice then.

U know my main concern in all this, you are feeding ur 3 colleagues at the office on daily basis? Not sometimes o, but everyday. Hia, what are feeling like? Mother Theresa? Mind you, I'm not a miser but I can't allow my wife to waste my resources on strangers called office colleagues. I put it to you woman. You are wasteful, you want to look like a generous woman in the eyes of your colleagues. Who does that in this buhari govt? You can help the needy but not always feeding office colleagues who earn salary like you. I'm very sure your husband is unaware how you do mother Christmas with his food stuff. And I'm equally sure, you wouldn't be that generous with the food if you are the one buying it. Nonsense n ingredients. its not good to be aka gum but you are wasteful, woman.

You should go and learn that particular Ewa your husband loves to eat. Even if it
Warrants you jokingly visiting the bukka and get their recipe.

Also, have a discussion with your husband. Find out why. It could also be an addiction

Haba no need for all that. Since it might be a hassle to go out and buy it everytime, just buy a week's worth of beans and keep in freezer. Somebody knows what he likes and is asking for it (and I'm assuming it's part of the house budget)... why make him feel bad about it?

What you are experiencing is called 'marriage shock' where bad characters of both married parties become open/discovered.

Your husband was definitely not brought up to cook for himself or maybe he had gotten so lazy and used to eating outside.

He also shows he is insensitive to your feelings by indirectly telling you that he prefers iyabasira's beans to yours.

No man.. I repeat, no man who respects his woman will do such. He ought to get used to your own cooking or eat that iyabasira's beans outside. Telling you to go and buy it is an insult.

How would he feel if you directly/indirectly compared his dressing, job, house etc to another man's own?

Sit him down and talk sense into him. He has a lot to learn as the head of the home. E no know wetin marriage be...e go learn small small.
