Igbos: shooting themselves in the foot politically since 1966.

1. APC will NEVER give the ticket to SE.

2. If igbo governors decamp to APC, then they loose influence in PDP in which case they loose any leverage to clinch what was already a tall order in PDP.

I have said it elsewhere that every political move the Igbos have made since 1966 have ultimately backfired on them in the long run. This is another one of those moves, that will back fire if they try it, at least for2023.

Hard as it might be to take in, the truth is there is no Igbo presidency for a while, this move will just make the already irrelevant SE vote more irrelevant because it will split the Ibo support.

This tactic of joining both parties may work in the long run if they are prepared to wait at least 2 or 3 election cycles without wailing. Can the Ibo man do that?

Politics is supposed to be about ideology. But not in Nigeria. And no one seems to be bothered.

Even on nairaland, for all the noise making, nobody can tell you what pdp stands for. What apc stands for. Everybody here just to make clueless noise. As if there's a character difference between the two parties
A swear, this is the most sensible post in this forum.

Reading through the various comments on this 2023 Presidency makes one hate Yorubas the more, damn, gradually Yorubas are turning themselves to Northeastern Nigeria without knowing....its just a matter of time.....greed, insensibility and over confidence are what brings doom to a people.....I foresee some terrible future for the Yorubas if they continue with this unjustified hatred for Igbos.

I would've loved to share in ur 'optimism' but, factually, d future looks really bleak as regards that. How many election cycles have we between 1970 (end of d meaningless civil war) and 2015? 11! Yet a nonentity, semi-lunatic at best could come from nowhere and cause such massive unpatriotic following?
My brother, trust is d issue here. I used to wonder why d northerners were always wary of the lots, but (political) events post 2014 have opened d eyes of the liberals - of which I was one.

You people keep missing the point in broad daylight. I don't care what the politics game is about. What's at stake is the unity of the country. In FAIRNESS, it's the igbos turn. FULL STOP.
The goal post can't keep getting moved whenever it's igbos turn to score. N expect them to keep on smiling?
NOBODY wants to be a second class citizen in their own country.
N the fact that some of you are okay marginalizing the igbos n expect them not to notice, are they zombies?

Right is Right Wrong is Wrong. Let's be honest when we speak. I know it's difficult for some, but damn try.

Nobody is saying it's not the igbo turn. APC cannot give its ticket to any igbo man.
It's simple to demand the ticket from PDP. But even the PDP wont take that risk.

I think the igbos needs to come together as one ressuciate themselves, learn to play politics in Nigeria.

Politics of hate and bitterness cannot make an igbo man a president.

In the last election, the houses, yorubas all voted massively for both APC and PDP but the igbos voted massi9only for PDP.

The south south were wise enough, voting for both APC and PDP.

My igbo brothers can use 2023 to prove to other region that they are capable to produce president in 2027.

Whether top igbo politicians decamp or not, it doesn't stop the hatred that the other ethnic groups have for them. The igbos should demand a presidency slot in the PDP.

Glad to hear this.
Finally, some people have started realising that politics is about affiliations, compromises and gives and takes.

You cannot remain in your comfort zone and expect people to hand power to you! You have to earn it. Ask PMB.....

You don't need to hate Yoruba. This permutation will back fire. We have minister from SE that can become president if APC want it to go to SE. If two governors and some senator decamp to APC that is the end of PDP and SE can become president under PDP more than APC. If they decamp and Tinubu or Osinbajo contest against them in the primary, who do you think will win the primary?

1. Nobody hates ibos, Ibos have a persecutuon complex and then start to attack everybody who then respond.

2. You dont "demand" something that if not given has no repercussion. You demand something when you have the power of consequence. There is no consequence if the Ibos are not given the presidential slot, you dont have the numbers to make a difference, do not have the majority to change the laws of the country and you dont have military power...so nothing will happen if your "demands" are not met! Are ibos going to leave PDP and join APC as 3rd class citizens aka frying pan to fire?

stop threatening, making noise and learn to be strategic and tactical!!

oh Unity? where was the unity when you were abusing every other tribe since 2015, where was the unity when you were labelling some people Afonjas and others Zombies and islamists, where was the unity when your people were threatening to break away and form your own republic, 2023 is round the corner and now you are shouting Unity? is it people that have tried to break away from the country twice that we will put in charge of the armed forces? Who hands over power to someone who has continously professed hate for him/her? do you people not think?

you will wait long for this presidency o!! You people dont seem to understand the damage you have done to your cause these last 4 years!!!

The average Northerner or SW is not voting for a president from the SE, except both parties field a SE candidate and thats never going to happen.

2039 earliest....and only if you behave yourselves in that time. personally I believe we will see another SS president before we see a SE president.

Igbo don’t know what they want.Their leaders and followers are self centered. Ameachi begged them to vote massively for Buhari in 2019 so that it would be easy for APC to support their presidency in 2023 but what the they do, instead they threw all their eggs in the basket of PDP and Atiku. Politics is a game of number, how do you justify support from region you hate with passion never voted into power. They have missed it . They should wait for 2039

greatest mistake SE made was calling APC an islamic and northern party when it was newly formed. It will continue to haunt them until only God Knows, even the PDP now knows that the SE cannot deliver so much as evidenced on the last elections.

I remembered when GEJ formed the National confab then, fashola and tinubu were not interested initially and vowed not to participate but they later had a rethink and decided to participate. Today nobody can say that the SW did not contribute to that confab.

Our SE folks and politicians should try and always see things from a national perspective and not always insist on their own narrow regional interest. Its a give and take thing.

Learn from Brexit, everything no be gra gra and always be sure you are really what you think you are!
