PhD certificate though relevant does not add value to treatment
...... so what is its relevance? ... and is it about treatment?...or lectures? ...and if not PhD holders what level should be accepted as lecturers?... they should say if they disagree.

Doctors are beginning to become too political and it might back stab them later in future.

The consultants want to continue becoming Professors without PhD. I laugh! Do they actually know the rigors of becoming a PhD holder?
They are not bigger than NUC that regulates them so if NUC says they cant become Professors without PhD then they should either join their colleagues who go on to acquire PhD or get out.

If the lecturing medical doctors don't want to obtain their PhD they can leave the classroom and return to the treatment room. The medical doctors lecturers cannot know better than the NUC.

Even in our public service , Doctors (MBBS and DVM) are given a higher rank than their Bachelor's degree counterpart.

All over the world, a PhD or equivalent is required as a minimum qualification to join academic positions at lecturer level and above at any University.

A PhD exposes one to a narrower field but at greater depth and understanding.

Most medical doctors that are teaching our medical students are just holders of MBBS which is a Bachelors degree equivalent to having BTech or BSc in Engineering. However, with residency periods, we can subjectively agree/disagree its equivalent (but not) to Masters.

Irrespective of the aforementioned, to be a lecturer in a proper University you need to have a PhD, there is no shortcut about it.

If it's not and you want to lecture, go earn your PhD, it's not a must.

Ignorance.phd is just 3yrs ofpaperwork.residency sents you back to school for another minimum of 6years training after medical school.which includes practical training and research.pls get your facts right.doctors need more of hands on training that just book work

The rigor involved in getting fellowship with the paper work and research is more demanding than getting a PhD. A 5 to 6 years residency program that some spend a decade to finish.
