Hausa fulanis are a different ball game! The people they share same values with are Somalians, Chadians, Nigeriens and Sudanese. That is why you see them fighting with everyone else in Nigeria.

I am from Plateau state and over here, Southerners who were born in Jos integrate very well with us, that sometimes you may not even be able to tell who is an indigene and who is not...

I was born and bred in Delta state and if you see me, you will find it hard to believe that I am not a Southerner... Here in Jos, most indingenes think I am a Southerner. Some do not agree even when I tell them the truth... This is because I have strongly been integrated with Delta state life and values.

Hausa fulanis on the other hand never integrate with anyone else .... They live secluded among themselves when they are in the middle belt & the south... Such a law can never work with them... Rather it is a recipe for disaster.

This bill can only lead to problems, God in his infinite wisdom created us differently for a reason, if he had wanted all of us to be the same there would be no need for different tribes and languages. Truth is we all know where we are from, be proud of who you are, where you are from and at the same time work hard to promote each other’s diversity. While Nigeria gives one the right to live wherever we want, that shouldn’t in itself become a license to erode, subvert or trample on the rights of the indigenous people of wherever you choose to dwell. This is a covetous, arrogant and insensitive bill which can only lead to ethnic conflict and strife. A resident and an indigene are two very different things, such matters are best left in the hands of the states (even in developed countries like Canada and Australia the rights of indigenous people are recognized and enshrined in the constitution). The almighty federal government can decide who it wishes to grant Nigerian citizenship to, but it cannot and should not decide who and who are indigenous to a state.

Very good point. As I said it's only criminally minded people that will support this bill in this our present condition now. Maybe in the future it might be good, but for now it's a recipe for disaster.

This won't work. The north will see it as a ploy to dominate them by the Igbo. An Igbo will claim Sokoto and on merit pass and get admitted into military schools, fed universities and possibly get jobs with that. I bet you, this won't work. The north is not yet ready for this

when an Igbo woman was a member of the lagos state house of assembly, every outreach and empowerment program she created went to igbos.

its not about making peace, its about human nature, a person will first empower someone from his/her ethnicity before they consider other people.

I talking about a situation where exceptional people from different tribes within the South and Middle Belt with liberal mind set and not tribal in their thinking are given opportunity to serve regions different from their own. These people must have stayed in the community for a long time and have integrated into that same community.

Now, if they performed exceptionally well for these communities/state which they originally do not belong, wont it reduce the hatred and tribalism among these regions toward their neighbors in the south & Middle belt? I think it will reduce a bit, because they are now looking at this tribes through the lens of this one man that showed more love to their region as if it were is own.

It looks like a fantasy but it can happen, if only we can put our distrust and prejudices aside and give exceptional individuals that are competent
(irrespective of their tribes within the south and middle belt) a chance to serve. lastly, Maybe one of the requirement should an ability to speak the language and understand the culture of that community you want to serve.

I am only emphasizing on only these two regions because we have the-same progressive outlook to life.
