Castaway is not actually a pitiable condition, it is your wrong understanding of that word that is pitiable! The Greek word is “adokomos”.


It means to be disqualified. Disqualified from what you may ask? It is to be disqualified or rendered ineffective for ministry.

“Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. How do we know he’s talking about ministry? The answer is in verse 24. He’s not talking about making heaven, Paul is talking about being rewarded for the work we’ve done on earth. That’ll be a wasted effort my brother. I am already in heaven and i say that with utmost humility. Why am i so sure? Because the Bible tells me that heaven is for those that are saved. All i needed to do to be saved was to believe and confess the Lordship of Christ and His resurrection.

This salvation is a gift and not a reward. You work for a reward but a gift is not worked for , but received.
