Same question i have always wanted to ask.

I also have my doubts about the numbers ncdc do bring out, especially that of Kano.

Kano state can inflate figures for Africa.
If they tell you they counted ten in Kano, just know that what they actually counted was 5 and half. Even their population is inflated.

Upon all the federal allocation they get from inflating figures, they are still among states with the poorest number of people in this country.

The day this country will split into two equal halves, there'll be gnashing of teeth in the core north.

Very useless, unproductive folks.

sir with due respect, are u angry today?

Since you want to be sure so as to know that the figures are not scam, I pray for you that the next figures of infection will come from your household and it shall lead to subsequent death. Please say amen.

What rubbish. Do you all think it's easy, go to the household of those affected then you will know that Jesus is Lord.

If you are so inquisitive, just go to the isolation centres and expose yourself to the disease by then you can be absolutely sure.

Foolish.

I personally have a friend who contracted the disease. I followed her up on phone throughout the period of her symptoms but she's very fine and healthy now. So with her case, Corona is real.

Typical of the Nigerian mentality to create unnecessary resistance to simpler and basic events while at the same time, believe absolutely unimaginable events are TRUE and be more receptive to them.

If you look deeper into the past comments of he people here who are doubting Thomases to the notion of COVID-19 Pandemic in Nigeria, you would find this same people likely to believe all or most of the following:

1. That president Buhari is a clone according to Nnamdi Kanu

2. That Abba Kyari was cremated in Lagos while another person was buried in his place according to Kemi

3. That 5G technology was the cause of Corona Virus even though there's no 5G in the country. But pastors Chris said it so it has to be TRUE.

4. That Any FFK says is Gospel Truth.

Nigerians also find a way to fish for conspiracy theories even if they usually have limited brain resources to substantiate it. They are willing to refute what is in front of them while accepting far fetched theories.

Every government is economical with the Truth. But you have to believe that a situation where virtually all activities are grounded World wide has to bear some truth. What more proofs do you need before you start telling everyone around you to take proper precaution against the virus with conviction?

IMHO, misinformation is a very dangerous thing to experience at the time of a pandemic. Topic like this shouldn't be allowed to reach many people. There's nothing sincere about it or anybody who would ask to know if someone you know personally have died from the COVID-19 Virus. Because they wouldn't believe anyone as long as they themselves aren't infected with it.

All these people here saying the virus is not real, I bet you, if you tell anyone of them to walk with you into an isolation center they will take to their heels. They are similar to Nigerian pastors that can perform miracle on the TV but cannot go into Coronavirus isolation center in Yaba and perform miracle there.

Since the pastors can't perform miracles let the imams do.

On d heels of a seemingly indispensable Abba kyari's demise...we're certain of Mr no respecter of person's (corona) existence in 9ja...

Bt u shud know 9ja is a cassino n coro has com as a one sure odd to our political dinassaur stakers for increased cash outs...

All ds stage play around without direct testimony from neither discharged nor infected patients not even a single leakage of any identity(s) of dos commoners discharged nor hospitalized baffles....it's not typical of 9ja where petty journalists crave fr flimsy stuff to make news not to have tot of it explore publications in dt area of curious interest to Nigerians.

Don't b deceived...corona can only severely affect pple with underlying respiratory track infection n oda serious medical conditions. Otherwise recovery shudn't b far fetched among average aged individuals as our weather bails us from ds one-virus can't thrive well in typical harsh African climate.

You people should stop spreading misinformation and baseless speculations. The novel coronavirus is resistant to heat, nothing like "sun will kill it". The research has been done and it has shown it requires boiling temperatures sustained for 15mins to completely neutralise the virus so stop spreading false information.

https://amp.scmp.com/news/china/science/article/3079831/coronavirus-can-survive-long-exposure-high-temperature-threat

Lets get this clear that the heat in particular has to do with sunlight heat. Also please respond to this question ” why is low death rate recorded across the Afrikan continent”?

Some of them just want to believe what they want. How much has Lagos State recieved that they wouldn't have made in just two weeks if the state has not gone into lockdown. Come to think of it, of these aids they collected they had built numerous care centers, spent many on awareness on media houses, and distributed palliatives. So, who's loosing? How would a sane person thinks he's coasting home because he got N2 not working when he should have gotten a guaranteed N20 going to work.
Some people's way of thinking belies their literacy! As you can hear them speak, it can be real in America, UK and other advance countries even in Saudi that have lock down Mecca, one of their source of income but it is a scam in Nigeria, like WTF? We need to change our orientation in this country I swear.

Nope...

If there is covid 19 in Nigeria, the figures are definitely no where near the fraud they are displaying on the NCDC website. For starters...

(1) Nigeria's census is based on fraud. Their figures are disputable.

(2) Nigeria's elections are frauds and I'm expected to believe NCDC figures?

(3) I am yet to see ONE dead body from Nigeria. We had tons of pictures plus videos of A.I.D.S, Ebola, Yellow fever and even Malaria yet not one video of a deceased Covid victim in Nigeria.

Deep down I know this Lockdown is all About looting govt funds. They are ready to lock us down till December so long as billions of "aid" money keeps coming in. They don't give a shit about you or me dying from.hunger.

The sooner people especially youths start staging violent protests in Nigeria, the better. No god will come down to help you. Even if everyone in aso rock dies today, more evil ones will replace dem tomorrow so no point rejoicing in Kyari's death.

We are too docile in this country and that is why theme govt will continue having their way. China, America, France, Italy etc have had their share of horrific leaders. The people fought and many died for the life they enjoy today.

No god is out to save Nigerians. Ask your fraudulent miracle working pastors who are on vacation. They aren't fools you know.

Not really, but if anyone out there still doubting if there is covid in the country, let them visit one of the centre have hand shake with covid 19 patient and put it inside his/her mouth then wait for two weeks. grin grin for confirmation.
Agbayaa, you got me laughing loud.
Honestly, you said it all.
The case is almost in every state now, so any idiot that wants to know should go to their state treatment center and do what you said.
One woman told me it was government ploy to eat money. She said that they should release the names of those who have or died from it. I was very angry, so I asked her if she would love government to give publicity to the identity of her family member , if any has covid19. She then kept quiet.

If we go by this analogy, that means, millions of Nigerians would have been infected for atleast 2months back, so are they all now immune, why haven't they died or showed symptoms

Is it after testing they now treat what didnt kill them before testing, it doesnt take that long to get infected and survive the disease

Lol... So, you need people to start falling seriously sick and hospitalized before you believe they are infected??! You actually think everyone infected must end up in the hospital??! Nah... Doesn't work that way sir.

There is an anomaly surrounding the virulence of this disease in Nigeria, and most parts of Africa... Don't for once believe the lie that number of cases detected are recent and the sole numbers... A lot of cases have gone under the radar since March.

I can bet you Lagos had over 500 since early March, and at least half of them travelled to other parts of the country... The spread of an airborne virus is faster than you can ever imagine.

Okay from the period of getting infected, for those with weak immune system, how long does it take to die of the disease if the country has been on lockdown since march and those returnees infected others earlier before we went on lockdown

why have they survived till now

You may need to talk to an infectious diseases health expert to get answers to this.

To be honest I marvel at the level of Ignorance displayed by many Nigerians. And to worsen it, everyone has turned specialist statistician and medical juggernut with some funny theories that made me appreciate even more the number of years I have spent through med school and practice.

And my answer is simple! Visit any isolation centre of your choice, have someone cough into your face then go home to your aged parents and tells us the story from your first hand experience in 3wks.

He quoted Ghana without stating the stark difference in the number of tests between both nations and how it affects COVID-19 statistics between Nigeria and the rest of the world.

Well I have quit trying to convince people cos they will never understand until it gets to them.

The numbers displayed on worldometer is grossly underreported cos it doesn't include deaths in the communities and homes as well as cases in people who self isolated and the assymptomatic patients that never got tested.

Well they will never understand. And the worst is the fact many persons lack basic understanding of finance and economics when they quote how Govt is cashing out. Like why would they want to kill an Economy that will so benefit their looting for rudimentary crumbs from WHO, EU and private donors put together...

Na who go na him sabi..

Don't you feel like crying when you went through this thread? Exactly how I felt.

The level of ignorance and self-inflicted-illiteracy in the world, Africa and Nigeria in particular is alarming!

I keep on telling people around me that, some would never believe until someone in their household is affected. For this OP & co., like someone earlier suggested, let them visit an isolation centre unprotected, then go back home and continue as per normal.

Well personally I don't know anyone who has been infected or died of the novel covid-19 virus, with the hype and rate of increase as purported by our government and the secrecy sorrounding those they claim to have it, I have my doubts regarding the figures.

I have personally followed Ghana on worldometer.info and Ghana's covid cases has remained below 1300 and just 9 deaths over the past week(s). So what does Ghana know that we don't.

Also I read a report on yahoo news saying sunlight easily kills the virus and we all know that the sun in Nigeria can boil yam in the right circumstance.

Another thing I noticed is that as soon as the European union gave Nigeria a 27 billion grant, the cases started to rise uncontrollably. Anyway thats my observation.

So do you know anyone with the virus or has the NCDC Being to your area to pick any suspected case.

Let us know.

Approximately 150,000 people in Nigeria died of HIV/AIDS complications in 2017. How many do u know? About 1.9 million Nigerians are living with HIV/AIDS. How many do u know. So how then do u expect to easily find someone who knows the less than 30 people that have died of covid-19

Don't brew conspiracy. Is it until someone known to you dies before you believe??
Think rationally.
One straight reason could be that
Ghana(population-26m) has done about 70,000 tests in the past weeks, meaning they have identified and isolated most of the infected citizens. In Nigeria(population-260m), we have done less than 10,000 tests and are already complaining kits are finished.
Based on our population, we'll likely have more cases than Ghana and we are not even there yet.

If you're in Lagos and don't believe the virus is real, Yaba Isolation centre is not far. You can go there and see for yourselves.

I did the test but came out negative.

My former colleague lost his sister to the virus.

A friend tested positive but has now recovered.

By the way, anyone that believed the government needed to shut down the whole country just to be able to get money from one international organization is a fool.

Where did Abacha shut down before stealing those billions?

Why would a government that controls CBN need to shut down the country for an imaginary threat just to make money?

Why would a government that can borrow money from IMF, WB etc and steal it need to shut down the whole country just to make money?

Why would government have to go through this stress just to get money to steal when there are easier options?

Guys, please let us use our education for once.

NCDC need to see this then, if every infected person don't need to be hospitalized; what then are all these shits about
Compare the no of infected persons when it all started plus discharged; how were they treated when the whole country never had that number of ventilators

let's just leave it here, the thing is more complicated than we see, as for the deaths and all that coffin news in foreign countries, just know money controls the media

A disease that has no cure but people get treated for it, that is they recover, does that mean it dies or would later resurface
