Ubenedictus: ferisidowu, 5solas, an2elect2, you guys have been teaching Calvin's doctrine of predestination, I asked you guys do you also agree with his doctrine on baptism?
you guys have refused to answer.
what says you? Not Calvin's Predestination but predestination as taught by the Bible and affirmed by the other reformers as well as Calvin. We believe predestination because we find it in the Bible not because Calvin taught it. For myself I have scarcely read his works but have found his quotes agreeable with the Bible. Baptism is not a part of the doctrines nicknamed Calvinism the more reason I am not bound to accept his views on baptism. The reformers were weak men like you and me used of God to proclaim the gospel. We should follow them only in those parts were they follow the Bible. I don't expect them to know the truth about everything, therefore I am able to accept them for whom they were and praise God for the truths they proclaimed despite the opposition they faced and the risks to their lives. |

jiggaz: Believers, see Romans 5:20: "The law was given so that sin would increase. But where sin increased, God’s grace increased even more."
Paul preached the gospel as it is written above and the religious people of his time falsely accused him of preaching that it is okay to sin because of grace. See this in Romans 3:8- "Some people are actually trying to put such words in our mouths, claiming that we go around saying, “The more evil we do, the more good God does, so let’s just do it!” That’s pure slander, as I’m sure you’ll agree."
But how is it that "where sin increased, God’s grace increased even more?" What does this mean?
We see how God's grace increased even more in the life of Peter. He boasted that he would not deny Christ, rose to Jesus' defence in Gethsemane and even cut off someone's ear, ready to fight for Christ! But in the end, he denied Christ...three times!... with swearing and cursing...and the first time upon being accused by a servant girl. The arm of flesh will fail. Imagine Peter remembering Christ's words in Matt. 10:33- "but whoever denies Me before men, I also will deny before My Father who is in heaven." How fallen and lost he must have felt.
But check out what happened on resurrection morning in Mark 17- the women who were going to anoint Jesus' body were shocked to see an angel in the tomb,
6 "but the angel said, “Don’t be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Look, this is where they laid His body. 7 Now go and tell His disciples, including Peter, that Jesus is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see Him there, just as He told you before He died.”
See "go and tell His disciples, including Peter..." Why the special mention of Peter's name and not that of any other disciple? It is because "But where sin increased, God’s grace increased even more." All of the disciples fled and went into hiding, but the one who many of us see as having "failed the most" among them got a special mention.
Did you know that Peter, the one who denied Christ three times, was also the first of all of the remaining disciples to see the resurrected Jesus Christ? We see this in Luke 24:34 and 1 Corinthians 15:5. Super-abounding Grace.
Then came the Day of Pentecost– Peter who had been so scared of being associated with our Saviour after His arrest, who lied upon being accused by a simple servant girl and then two more times, the one who many of us see as "failed the most" among the disciples, preached a sermon (in public!) that got 3,000 people saved. No fear of the teachers of religious law and Pharisees who were still out to get Jesus' followers. Through the power of Christ in him, the dead were raised to life and the sick were healed! Today, Peter who denied Jesus three times is regarded as a pillar of the early church!
This is the effect of super-abounding Grace. It swallows up sin and transforms us from Simon (meaning Reed, easily swayed by the elements) to Peter (meaning Rock- bold and unshakable in Christ.) Truly, "...But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more," Not just one batch of grace; it continues forever: "From His fullness we have all received, grace in place of grace," John 1:16.
Believers, believe right. "Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound...." The Ten Commandments that many are struggling to obey in order to get into God's good graces is designed to make the offence (sin) abound. Sin multiplies when one tries to get right with God by obeying the Ten Commandments.
We see this again in Romans 7:14- "For sin shall not have dominion over you for you are not under law but under grace." But many who profess Christ have this backwards.
Believers, only the sinless blood of the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ can make us righteous in God's sight. Depend on your own obedience to the law to get right with God and sin will increase. Rely on the obedience of Jesus Christ (Grace personified) to make you righteous (Romans 5:19) and you will not continue to live in sin. See Romans 5:17-
"For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.)"
Receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness and you will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ, including reign over sin.
http://rightbelieving101..com.ng/2018/01/but-where-sin-abounded-grace-abounded.html?m=1 This is awesome! Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Romans 6:1. This is the verse thrown at you when you try to preach grace by those who are uncomfortable with it and see preaching grace as encouraging sin. It is not necessarily so.It should be preached and not abused. Grace abounds when we sin, but must we sin on that account, knowing God does not want us to? This is what Romans 6:1 is saying. It flows directly from 5:20 And we do not set aside the law when we preach grace or insist that salvation comes by faith alone, rather it is when we have faith that we are able to keep the law. 3:31. Not to be saved thereby though. Gal. 2:16,21; Hebrews 7:11. |

Ferisidowu: now tell me if one is perfectly obedient to the law, will he be justified by it No! This is because justification does not come from the law (Gal. 2:16). Also one would have to answer for past sins. Sins committed before one 'attained'perfection. In reality, one cannot be perfectly obedient to the law. There is the letter of the law and the spirit of the law. Again the law " worketh wrath" and only brings curses. Gal. 3:10,11. |

otr1: We are justified by faith in Jesus, yes, but obedience to God's commandments and the keeping the faith of Jesus are two sides of a coin. No sinner will see God. And who are sinners? Those who disobey God's Law. Which Law? The Ten Commandments. I don't see how a christian proclaiming Christ but living in sin is going to get justification from God. That's why Jesus made it clear that not everyone that calls him "Lord" will see the kingdom of God. If not all who proclaim Christ are not elects, what are the elects doing differently? Rev. 14:12 has the answer. I expected your thoughts on Romans 8:33! Our justification is not an on-going process. It is concluded once we place our faith in Christ. Read Acts 13:39 and Hebrews 10:10. |
Christianity Etc › Re: What Do You Understand In Romans 8:33 by 5solas(m): 12:59pm On Dec 31, 2017 |
nicemuyoo: Permanent salvation by faith alone is a doctrine of the antichrist- the lawless one. The one in whose name the law of God is abolished- that is done away with. Abraham was said to have faith which led to his righteousness . Folks abrahams faith is actually his good works.he walked before God and was obedient to his commandments( moral laws) that has been in place before Moses time. He worshipped Yahweh, he never went about committing adultery, robbing people of their money, etc. He lived a life of Good works, walked blamless before God while the whole world was living in sin!! Joseph had faith when he refused to sleep with portiphar's wife. Noah had faith so he build an ark devoting time, energy, resources etc towards what God order him to do and also lived a righteous life. Folks faith means Good works and righteous deeds. But preachers of today has changed it to mean wishful believes to attain worldly riches and money or lust of the eyes, flesh etc. Now this is a doctrine of the antichrist a man of SIN a man in whose name the law of Yahweh is abolished promoting LAWLESSNESS in all the churches. Some christians/ pastors/ bishops would say to Yahushua on the last day - sir in your name we cast out demons and prayed but He would rely them, I never knew you DEPART FROM ME YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS( DECLARING AND TEACHING THAT MY FATHER'S PERFECT LAWS HAS BEEN ABOLISHED WHEN I CLEARLY STATED I HAVE NOT COME TO ABOLISH THE LAW OF MY FATHER BUT TO FUFILL- AS IN ESTABLISH IT.) Paul said do we nullify the law? NO! ON THE CONTRARY WE ESTABLISH THE LAW WITH IS GOOD AND PERFECT) James and john warned against this doctrine of once save by faith alone forever saved making it clear that faith without righteous works is dead!!! Those that are saved are those that have THE FAITH OF YAHSHUA AND THE RECORD OF OBEDIENCE TO THE COMMANDMENT OF YAHWEH. I DON'T KNOW WHY CHRISTIANS REFUSE TO YIELD TO THE HOLY SCRIPTURES EXCEPT SOOTHING WORDS just like Paul predicted would happen in the last days Folks it's TIME pastors/ bishops start teaching scriptures and leave behind antichrist doctrines and all LAWLESS teachings At least I expected your thoughts on Romans 8:33! Also you don't even understand what Paul meant by Romans 3:31! Read the whole chapter. He had just done what we are trying to do, establishing that we cannot be justified by the law and that faith in Christ alone, saves-apart from good works (without good works). Verse 31 is a placement of good works where they belong - a product of faith. In the same way we say to you, good works do not play a role in our justification (salvation) but our faith bring good works. We have no objection to good works as far as you do not credit them for being the cause of salvation. When we put our faith in Christ, good works become easy to do. Roman's 3:31. Read Romans 4 and contrast Abraham's justification with that you painted above. |

paxonel: As self explanatory that scripture is, you are getting it wrong. Pastors are getting it wrong too.
God can not judge a case in favour of any christian when he is wrong. God is not that bias. If you are wrong as a christian you will go for it. However, that scripture is simply saying that, nobody can judge a christian such that, he will loose the eternal life that was once given to him as a gift through Christ, irrespective of what he or she has done Nice one! If I understood Nebes well, you are essentially saying the same thing. |

13 looking for that blessed hope and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ, Of course, it doesn't. We do not make void the law by teaching this, rather, we uphold the law. Roman's 3:31. |

Christianity Etc › Re: What Do You Understand In Romans 8:33 by 5solas(m): 12:12pm On Dec 26, 2017 |
Roman's 8:33 is simple and straight forward - no one can accuse the believer (whom God has chosen for salvation) of sin because God has justified them of their sins-declaring them, "not guilty! ". It flows from the whole of the book. Consider chapter seven where it is shown how unable we are to keep the law even when in faith. It ends with the fact that the keeping of the law has been done by Christ . The beginning of chapter 8 continues the idea. The first verse is not saying what we need to do to avoid condemnation, it is saying what we do who have put our faith in Christ. Christ did for us what the law could not do by His perfect obedience to the law and this righteousness of Christ was imputed to us on our believing (Acts 13:39,Hebrews 7:11.). We are not saved by our works, righteousness, perfection. Roman's 8:18 says: "For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us". This is true because we will all go to heaven without exception because of our faith in Christ. Also all things, ALL THINGS , work together for our good (v28). All of us who are in faith were chosen to be before the foundation of the world and predestined to be conformed to the image of His son. In time we are called, justified and will certainly be glorified. So if all these are done for us without our deserving it, it shows we have been accepted by God and nothing can over rule what God has purposed concerning us. If He did for us while we were yet sinners why won't He freely give us all things. No one can bring any just course while we should not go to heaven. Christ makes intercession for us because He ever lives and so is able to save us completely (Vs 34,Hebrews 7:24,25.). Nothing can separate us from God"s love (Vs 35-39). Nothing present, nothing future. No person, no circumstances. When we realise this we are able to serve and worship Him without fear and to truly live. |
