Well, it will make it easier for the ones in Nigeria to get good jobs. Doctors aren't treated badly abroad too, so it's a kind of win win for the profession. Just that it's bad for the nation. Brain drain is real.

I believe it's high time we begin to charge tuition on courses like Medicine or at the least have a minimum contribution you must make to your country before leaving

US doctors and lawyers have student loans of 200 to 500k USD after graduation

Did you or your government pay for any of their school fee?

Not even pencil.

Can you see what's happening here?

The government of Nigeria subsidizes the training of doctors across the length and breadth of the nation.

Then when they graduate, they zoom off with their knowledge and go serve other countries.

The reason why the western world is short on doctors is because higher education is very very expensive.

The FG has refused to provide a conducive environment for everyone, so in a way, you can't blame the doctors for fleeing.

Eventually, the common man loses because if Nigeria is emptied of medical practitioners, then people like Buhari and Aisha will always go to the UK and Dubai for their medical needs.

The same doctors that ran away from Nigeria will treat them in a saner environment.

Nigeria, shame!
exactly....the naija doctors failed to realised how much naija government subsidies education compared to foreign counterparts and naija government failed to provide conducive environment

they are GOING because of GREED. all AFRICAN countries face this PROBLEM. they pay our DOCTORS around 200 thousand a MONTH, and that's not enough for them? GREED. Ghana knows the problem, so THEY MAKE IT difficult for their DOCTORS to run away!
it's because we subsidise education, and make it cheap to STUDY medicine very CHEAP! it's expensive to study medicine in the Western country. You have to get LOANS to study so you are locked until you pay the debt.

As much as I want them to leave for greener pastures, we the masses are going to be on the receiving end. The people who made this country the way it is can easily travel out but we, the masses? What happens to us?

Even Mechanics are looking for exodus in a ship wrecked Nigeria.

Just once the opportunity strikes, then vooooom

Not a joke. If you are a mechanic with correct certification, you can leave.

Nurses leave in droves to better climes.

The economy has collapsed. Investing in health sector is good but without security of lives and property, it is back to square one because other sectors are needed to be up to guarantee sustainability of whatever effort being put in a sector.
Just look at the impacts of insecurity on Agriculture.

in Ghana, you have to work for a certain number of years, to pay back government subsidies of your medical education before you emigrate out!

they use a SMART approach. they use to have this PROBLEM. NOW, they want NIGERIANS to pay 1 million dollars to have even a small SHOP. Do we do the same to them? NO!
NIGERIANS are always greedy! everything from government to common citizen.

The story is just imagination.

Corona is largely under control except few countries like america where they have disorderly government.

So only few countries need foreign doctors.

NIGERIA!!! There was once a country.

Saw this interview of ISREAL ADESANYA'S FATHER. The man said he had to leave Nigeria for NEW ZEALAND for a better life in 2007, despite been a big chartered accountant. I'm sure that's the reason why we know who ISREAL is today... If not...

People have given up in the country.... Everybody wanna vammose at the slightest opportunity. May God help us.

THEY DEPEND ALOT ON BLACK, INDIANS, ASIANS AND ARAB FOR MEDICAL STAFF.

SO MANY NIGERIA DOCTORS WORK IN UK.

Yes, because Nigerian government subsidizes higher education in general. Higher education is not meant to be cheap if the cost is borne by students, even much more so when it's medicine.
