ednut1: What a load of rubbish. This one thinks it is private politicians building residential houses in Eko Atlantic, and not companies, many of therm international firms. Why does one even bother responding to this uninformed, ignorant garbage? 26 Likes 1 Share |

laiperi: Stop thinking that people are too poor to afford stuff in Nigeria or Africa. I remember when Shoprite were considering entering Nigeria a few years ago. On this very Nairaland and other forums, you had many people saying that Shoprite were wasting their time coming to Nigeria, as only the ''very few rich politicians'' could afford to shop in malls, and that the average Nigerian was living on ''less than a dollar a day'', and was therefore far too poor to patronise shopping malls or help them make a profit. Shoprite rightfully IGNORED all the naysayers and pessimists, and entered the Nigerian market. The result? They can't even cope with the level of demand, and are building more and more outlets all over Nigeria, some in places as unlikely as Awka and Aba and Oshogbo! That is why nobody should EVER listen to Nigerians when thinking of doing business in Nigeria. I've never seen a people with so much to offer, yet who think so low of themselves. 56 Likes 2 Shares |

ednut1: Opposite what place? Is Eko Atlantic a house or a school that you can say ''I know what happens there because I work opposite the house''? By your criteria, even a roadside mechanic working ''opposite'' Eko Atlantic is an expert on the project. Forum filled with ignoramuses. Your mates with brains are developing plans to establish in Eko Atlantic. Sit there talking rubbish. In 10 years' time when they're balling, you'll be in one corner blaming ''our leaders'' for your uselessness. 37 Likes 2 Shares |

The Biggest Land Reclamation In The World ''Started back in 2003 as just an idea, Eko Atlantic is now an ongoing project rising from the coastline of Lagos, Nigeria. It is known for being an eco-friendly city which is helping boost the Lagos economy and providing businesses and employment opportunities for many of the country’s youth and investors. Creating this luxurious haven involved many steps, among them the most major, which was dredging the ocean to create and reclaim land for real estate use. This entailed around 140 million tons of sand, making it the largest land reclamation in the world! 14 Likes 2 Shares |

idu1: YES. If people are working to develop this country, and all YOU and your fellow scumbags can do is rubbish their efforts and belittle them, then you deserve EVERY INSULT POSSIBLE. Even more than I can give. You are not the only African that want our continent moving forward like the west. Quit this your overzealousness. The project is slow by the way. I'll rather be 'overzealous' than lackadaisaical, pessimistic and hopeless, which seems to be your preferred sentiment. The project is ''slow''? Well, what is stopping YOU from hastening it by putting up a structure there? The people building there now, do they have two heads? Is it not private businesses? Maybe it is ''slow'' because you've infected others with your negative, can't do mentality. If YOU cannot put up a building there, then you've no right to complain about the pace of the project. If it is 'slow', then PLAY YOUR OWN PART and go build something there. They did not write down anybody's name there as the owner of anything. Eko Atlantic is yours. You're a Nigerian. Take advantage. Form a consortium. Develop a plan. Speak to a consultancy firm, and move forward. You'll be shocked how far you'll go with just a website displaying a company name and a building prototype, plus business cards. That alone establishes you as a player. Then you can take it from there. One step at a time. One meeting at a time. But if you have the mindset of ''oh, it's Nigeria, so it will be abandoned soon'', or ''oh, when we have Biafra, we will show you how to build proper cities'', or ''oh, you jokers, this can never be like Dubai, only a poor copy of it'', and other such idiocies being posted on this thread, then you've lost the race even before it starts. Everything starts with the mindset. 40 Likes 2 Shares |

Uchek: Ever heard the saying ''From little acorns mighty oak trees grow''? Go and study the impact of Manhattan, NYC on the growth and expansion of the US economy and its current position as the world's leading economy. Eko Atlantic is not being developed as a fancy prestige project. This is about business. You expand your economy by becoming a magnet of investors and tourists. ''New York City has been ranked first among cities across the globe in attracting capital, business, and tourists.'' according to Wiki. That is what will happen with Lagos, courtesy of Eko Atlantic City. 33 Likes 3 Shares |

jagorinho: Thank you jare, my brotha. I actually enjoying handing it to them. Do you know how many people in other countries will give an arm and a leg to have such a huge expanse of land provided to them from the sea, with the words, ''Go forth and build your businesses here and make a fortune!'' It will be like manna from heaven for them! They won't stop talking about the place, and strategising on how to exploit the opportunity with all sorts of business ideas. But here? People are complaining and not even paying any mind to the place. Tell you who is happy we have that attitude? The Chinese, Indians and Lebanese. 14 Likes |

laiperi: This is an outdated and lame mentality. There are enough wealthy Nigerians to fill a small european country and even through you live among them you won't believe they exist for some reason. Nigerians own more property in Dubai than the combine total of Africa minus us, so why not bring that type of lifestyle to Nigeria? All of the Nigerians living abroad, if we want them to come back we have to meet their living standard and this will also make new people rich as it will benefit the income flow of the whole state. This 'how many nigerians can afford' is nonsense, 90% of the houses being built in my village are mansions, not to talk of what's being build in cities. 25 Likes |

laiperi: OP is simply a champion and likely a winner in life with big ambition and drive unlike the many pathetic losers here who don't understand that winning at life begins with a positive outlook and mindset. Per your point in bold, I don't agree. Many football clubs in the UK have been bought by foreigners. Some of the most prestigious properties in the UK are owed by foreigners.Even whole streets in the most prestigious part of London are owned by foreigners. Chinese, Russians, Ukrainians, Arabs and even Nigerians. We are not in 1930. The world is now a global business and village with private cash able to do what it wants. If I use my own cash to build luxury apartments in Nigeria, why should I discriminate in favour of Nigerians when that means I lose money waiting for them to purchase my units? I am not a charity neither are most property developers and private investors. There are many schemes less wealthy Lagosians can buy into and not everything in Lagos has to be about 'affordability'. I can't afford to buy at Eko Atlantic now but I don't envy those, foreigners or Nigerians, who can because I am working hard to be able to buy there as it will be an iconic address of immense value I can pass on to my kids. Most modern cosmpolitan cities must cater for all levels of wealth and personal circumstances in keeping with the spirit of cosmopolitan living which esssentially means all sorts of different people sharing geographical space productively. Lagos will not and cannot be a clannish or discriminatory enclave where it is okay to hate those who are wealthy. 23 Likes 2 Shares |
