Must people complain when Barca beat Real?Sending off is part of the game and we are too sure that if a Real player had been on the receiving end of this tackle Real from Ronaldo to the manager would have walked out of the pitch if no red had been issued!Angel Di Maria played in the same way that is now being forbidden!Real manager sholud learn to be on the bench without theatrics and the team shd learn to play without being vicious in their tackles!!! sad
Re: Must Barca Cheat To Win! by Debroslink: 6:39pm On Apr 28, 2011
pepe's tackle on Alves is d same as Scholes' tackle on Zabaleta.
So if Scholes received a red card, why not Pepe?
All of u nagging against Barca are all hypocrites!!!
Was it UEFA dat made Barca had 71 percent of possession
Was it UEFA dat made Arse-anal play 90 mins of soccer WITHOUT 1 shot on or off target?

Mourinho shd just shut up nd admit dat his team was 2nd best.
Re: Must Barca Cheat To Win! by AjanleKoko: 6:43pm On Apr 28, 2011
This argument is not here and there.

Barcelona's style of play is as simple as this:
Barcelona pass the ball around a lot. They are really good at that, and because they're not physically very strong, they don't like to run into walls of defence, or play long balls at a striker. They're also not great at long range shooting. So they just pass right, pass left, pass front, pass back, for 90 minutes, while waiting for an opportunity to pass into space and score a tip-tap goal.

End result - opposition can't get the ball. So opposition usually gets physical with Barca players to get the ball off them.  Sometimes they do, and then they can play their way, which is BOOM!! up top to the 7 foot striker in the box. Sometimes this works, they score.

Usually it doesn't, cos Barca players can keep the ball very well. So the opposition gets frustrated and starts to get physical with Barca. End result? Fouls and more fouls. Barca players like fouls, it wins them the ball back. So they milk any foul opportunity, and fall like dead men at the slightest contact. The opposition guy would prolly have lunged in for the tackle anyway, or shown studs in a desperate attempt to get the ball.

The end result? Opposition keeps conceding free kicks and penalties, picking up cards in the process. If this continues, or increases in tempo, a red card might just show up at some point.

Ironically, even spectators, especially those that watch the EPL, would have been thoroughly fed up with proceedings. They usually expect end to end action, men running in all directions, almost like grid-iron American football. Which is what accounts for scores like 5-3, 7-4, in the EPL.

The truth is, only four kinds of results are possible when you play teams like Barca. Well, three if you look at Mou's approach.

1. You don't tackle them, and lose 4-0 or 5-0, cos they will pass the ball into the net, like you weren't even there.

2. You tackle them and likely lose a player and still lose the game, maybe not 5-0.

3. You tackle them and the ref doesn't care so he doesn't penalise you as much. The game prolly will end in some sort of stalemate. Though you might snatch a victory if they make some sort of defensive mistake, as they are wont to do. Barcelona are not known for great defending. But you won't beat them 4-0 or 5-0.

4. You tackle them physically and close them down very quickly before they can pass around you. Not too many teams can do that, for a simple reason: Because of Barca's style of play, their players don't tire as quickly as other teams in the course of the game. But there are always days when the passing is below par, or they are just not physically up to it. Like Hercules, and even Arsenal at the Emirates. RVP or not, Arsenal were riding their luck at the Camp Nou. At the time Van Persie was sent off, the game was tied at 1-1, both goals scored by Barcelona.

It's highly unlikely that a second goal would not have come, given Arsenal's record at defending leads. In fact, scenario 2 would have occured, if not a sending off, then a penalty, when you look at the waves after waves of Barca attacks in the first half. Arsenal would have been extremely lucky to win that tie.

Real Madrid had scenarios 3 and 4 in mind in all the games. After having experienced scenario 1 in November, they decided they would not dare try to attack Barca. So far, they achieved scenario 3 in last week's Cup game, and a minimized scenario 2 in the preceding game. Unfortunately, in yesterday's game, it was scenario 2 all the way.

By the way, Spain played exactly the same way in the World Cup. They lost their first game, scored very few goals, and frustrated everybody. But they still won using the same tactics as Barcelona use. Of course there are less games in the World Cup, so you don't easily notice these things. But that is the way it is, and that is why Spain is suddenly the dominant country in world football.

Messi gives Barcelona 2-0 win over 10-man Madrid
By PAUL LOGOTHETIS, AP Sports Writer
Apr 27, 7:09 pm EDT

tweet13EmailPrintMADRID (AP)—Lionel Messi’s clutch scoring was overshadowed by the loud complaining from the other side.

Messi lit up an ill-tempered Champions League semifinal on Wednesday with two goals in the last 15 minutes to give Barcelona a 2-0 victory against short-handed Real Madrid.

Messi sent substitute Ibrahim Afellay’s cross through the legs of goalkeeper Iker Casillas to open the scoring in the 76th minute. With three minutes to play, the elusive Argentina forward brilliantly moved past three defenders before slipping the ball past Casillas for his 52nd goal of the season, and 11th in the Champions League.

“A team that has nine European Cups never gives up on a series, I’m convinced of that,” Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola said. “We played a very good game. We controlled their counterattacks, their aerial game, which is very dangerous.”

The match turned on the ejection of Madrid’s Pepe in the 61st minute. That enraged Madrid coach Jose Mourinho, who was sent to the stands for protesting the decision, leaving Madrid playing with 10 against Barcelona for the fourth straight game.

Pepe was sent off after colliding with Daniel Alves as he lunged for a ball and Mourinho was sent to the stands for sarcastically clapping and showing a thumbs up to the fourth official.

Mourinho has seen his team finish with 10 players in his last five matches against Barcelona, counting Inter Milan’s 1-0 defeat at Barcelona in the semifinals last year. Inter still advanced, then won the championship against Bayern Munich.

“If I say to (the referee) and to UEFA what I think and feel, my career ends today,” Mourinho said. “One day I hope to get an answer to the question: Why?”

Mourinho took a seat in the first row behind the dugout and began scribbling instructions that were passed to assistant coach Aitor Karanka.

But there was no stopping Messi, whose second goal was a wonderful example of his trademark: a darting run and classic finish.

It was Barcelona’s first win in three games between the bitter rivals in 12 days after a 1-1 league draw and a 1-0 extra-time Copa del Rey final defeat.

Madrid’s defense in Tuesday’s return leg will be short-handed with Pepe and Sergio Ramos both suspended. Ramos got a yellow card for a foul on Messi in the 53rd.

Mourinho described the second leg in Barcelona as “mission impossible” as he continued to bemoan his side’s treatment by the referee.

“We’ll go there with pride, without Pepe, who did nothing, without Ramos, who did nothing, and the coach who can’t be on the bench,” he said. “If we score a goal, they’ll kill us again. It’s a result that is impossible.

“Why in a game that was equal did he do what he did? But he won’t answer, he’ll go home because he doesn’t have to answer to anyone.”

Messi’s 179th goal tied him with Josep Samitier as the third-leading scorer for Barcelona, behind only Cesar Rodriguez (235) and Laszlo Kubala (196).

“At 23 … that’s incredible,” Guardiola said.

Messi was not available for comment.

Both coaches had stoked tensions on the eve of the match, with Guardiola launching an expletive-filled attack on Mourinho, and the bad will spilled over into the match.

Tensions first erupted in the 40th minute when Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa was carded after a tussle with Pedro Rodriguez, while Danny Alves was shown a yellow card for a push on Angel Di Maria.

Substitute Barcelona keeper Jose Manuel Pinto was the first to be sent off for a red card at halftime as the two teams skirmished while leaving the field. That left Barcelona without a reserve goalkeeper as the frustration of not capitalizing on 70 percent of the possession in the first 45 minutes seemed to boil over

We all know that BARCA are a good.but most all their players cloud the reff when there is a foul on their player even when the tackle is not that serius.that is what UEFA should look into.cos this has been going on for years.they did it to CHELSEA,INTER,ARSENAL and now MADRID.if messi is that good he should go to another club when his contract expair.maybe italy or england.he and his team mates has collected what there is to collect in spain (trophies).they should tender their transfer request and seek for challenges else where, then we will know they are good.ojoro club

@Op, how do you mean by accusing barcelona fc of cheating?Didnt you see pepe's 'STUDS UP' challenge on Alves.By the rules of the game, dont you know that such attract a red card.It appears you are mou fan but dont let sentiments becloud your sense of judgement.
Re: Must Barca Cheat To Win! by beloakim: 7:52pm On Apr 28, 2011
i dont y pple are crucifying barcelona for.they seem to 4get the fact that barcelona is the best team in the world.THEY NEVER SAID ANYTIN ABT PINTOS CASE,WAS IT NOT THESAME RED CARD GIVEN TO PEPE THAT WAS ALSO GIVEN TO HIM?
Re: Must Barca Cheat To Win! by switchmax8: 7:53pm On Apr 28, 2011
poster,
if you call that cheats then pls tell mou to teach his players how to defend and stifle players not by kicking and stepping on players foot.i am a barcelona fan though did not support the red card it would have been yellow instead of red but that does not change the game since he is master of all.
He says that whenever he wants to play with barcelona he trains with 10 players, what happened yesterday did he forget the training with 10 players i told a friend before the kickoff time that if pepe comes into champions league with his kung-fu cum hard tackle football he will definately see red.
did you watch the king's cup final?pepe, alonso and arbeola were busy kicking and stepping on barcelona players yet they were not shown any card, yesterday marcelo intentionally stepped on pedro's leg yet no complain when the ref waved played on.did you watched ramos shoving messi aside before he was shown yellow.
mou should learn to play football because when he plays other clubs in champions league he did not instruct the players to kick their players.cant you ask this question why do madrid players enjoy kicking barcelona players.is that a strategy to weaken their beautiful football?i can hear the cry of ronaldo in the dressing room when he was busy blaming his team mates for now showing winning zeal.
to correct your sentence barca did not cheat madrid they cheated themself they should learn how to play football barcelona played 10 against 11 2009 against chelse even when abidal was wrongfully shown red.barcelona did not complain when madrid won the king's cup and the ref was influenced by mou's statement 2 of madrid players were supposed to be shown card yet nothing happen.madrista learn to accept defeat once and for all
Re: Must Barca Cheat To Win! by switchmax8: 7:56pm On Apr 28, 2011
sidwell,
must messi play in another league to show he is the best.did maradona played in epl or pele if you dont know football you should keep quiet and read more.
messi is good player he does not need to play in epl or another league.why must he leave barcelona when he is not money-driven players like ronaldo.ronaldo moved to madrid because of the money nothing more he said it himself.
Re: Must Barca Cheat To Win! by 1025: 8:42pm On Apr 28, 2011
The dont put pressure on refs to issue red cards, they put pressure on opponent and make them commit dumb blunders, Thats why they r de best

@ericology,
why were all barca players always rushing to the ref? is it not an offence in football to crowd the ref? is it not an offence in football to decieve the ref? why are the barca fans full of rolling on the floor? were u expecting to see dani alves play football in the next 20 months? a team of class like barca shld stop raising questions every season.
Re: Must Barca Cheat To Win! by leoebhos(m): 8:54pm On Apr 28, 2011
How do u define cheating, i expect u to be more diplomatic and not just going with the crowd saying rubish. So what u are saying is dat fool pepe committed does not worth a red card? Guy pls post thread wey make sense ok
Re: Must Barca Cheat To Win! by adctrl: 9:05pm On Apr 28, 2011
Can I start by saying this topic is a bit misleading and unfounded?
I have read some brilliant post and also some biased ones on this thread
It was a shame seeing a player sent off in a game like that but as a manager, you shouldn't set out your team to injure the opponents - just like Mourhino always do against only Barca. He did that during the 2 legs while he was in-charge of Inter and till today, I wonder how they got away with it.
Barca style of play can be very frustrating before if u ever played football, u will know the feelings if the ball just pass by u and u are unable to touch it.
Lastly, players of should be ashamed of themselves considering the way the fake little fouls but showing of studs like Pepe did last night is not acceptable in modern day footy, even though the referee could have done away with a yellow. Look at players like Alves, Di Maria and co diving like kids!!! Silly to say the least.
Mourhino is a master mind game player and he did what he knows best but unfortunately, he got his fingers burnt.

look stepping on another player with your boot and missing the ball is a red card offense unless the ref decides overlook it, its all about the game, alves cried like he was attacked with a machette is about the game, its works for you today u are happy, it works against u tomorrow you are complaining, that is not cheating at all but its all about the antics in the game and if you guys are honest you will agree that madrid players are always to physical when it gets to barca, this is the third classico in 2 weeks and madrid got a red in each of the games, do you honestly believe that the 3 refs were all supporters of barca,
Barca did not cheat and has never cheated to win anygame,
i love my barca but i will continue to support them and also be honest enof to call a spade a spade when i see it,

Re: Must Barca Cheat To Win! by o9999: 9:41pm On Apr 28, 2011
when u forget that u are supposed to be kicking ball and go after legs (kicking, tugging and pushing)

then i forget am supposed to be running on my feet (with the ball) and start rolling on the floor,
Dont hate the player, hate the game,
imagine that stud was shown to CR, hmm, u wld have known wot diving is all about,

The only reason inter won the cup last season is cos they played all the rough (kicking and tugging @barca) but Barca ignored and played real football. once beaten, twice shy,
they learnt from the best (JM's team)

Another food for tot,
while JM was with Chelsea, chelsea became too rough and took loads of cards, he has left them and wot happened? they same group of people forgot how to be rough

same with inter,
now RM,
hmmm, moreover, b4 d match, JM criticed Pep for crticizing good referee decisions, y cant he accept one now ennnhhhONE GOOD TURN DESERVES Aanother

You're telling me what pepe did was right abi,you so have football ignorance. You want to tell me that sergio ramos' elbow on messi too was right abi, football naivity is worrying you. And now you're blaming busquets for holding his head when they tackled his leg abi,let me carry studded soccer boot use am hammer your leg as if you no go hold your face, holding his face was just a reaction mehn. Lets just face the fact that Barcelona is better, who got twacked a whole 5-0? I guess Maurinho is still finding it hard to get over that terrible defeat. Real Madrid know that they can't beat Barcelona by playing like they have sense

Pepe is supposed to go after the ball and not Alves.

Any physical(human-human) contact in football is a foul. undecided

And the attacked player has the right to stay down until he gets the Ref's attention.

THAT IS NOT CHEATING.
