Sanchez01: That is one man who messed up and paid the price. Yet Nigerians were not afforded the luxury of individuality. In fact, that one MAN was used as a blanket to describe the "typical" Nigerian on Tariq's post and comments. If you read what he (Tariq) said he is comparing Toby to all black immigrants especially Nigerians. The responses from his stans are even worse. They are resorting to calling ICE on immigrants and are sharing memes about how it is patriotic to have immigrants investigated in case they may be illegal. Toby is just a variable. Now the new wave is them using the chaos in Northern Nigeria to refuel the xenophobia. |

Yazmin: It may not be pretty but it's reality. Whether or not My thread was posted on homepage or if Nigerians discriminate against one another neither negate from the fact that there is a growing anti-African especially Nigerian American subculture being cultivated by influential people in the black world to the point where Nigerians who are part of pro-black (american) movements (grassroots, blm, etc) are told they need to "stay out of Black American business and go home!" They are even petitioning to prevent African youths from being able to recieve "black" owned and targeted scholarships. |

Asswipemod: Actually, despite our ancestors being from Africa Black Americans are an ethnic group that was created in the Americas before the country was even founded, this means our ethnicity is native to the United States and the Americas, because we have no identity that harkens back before slavery. We're not Yoruba or Akan or maninka or Fula or anything else, we're a relatively new people. As for us only wanting to do drugs, if this were the case you wouldn't have so many Africans flocking to Black American areas like PG County, Atlanta and parts of Houston. They go to these places because Black Americans created thriving communities, businesses and networks that these Africans wanted to link into, the same is true of quite a few of our HBCUs. |
