Nigeria Doctors should not be travelling to relocate abroad.

They should be allowed to travel for chills and vacations.

However; they should remain in Nigeria to Develop Our Healthcare Systems.

Aproko Doctor is a good example of a Great Doctor Handling Many Healthcare Projects based on His Personal Initiatives, Team and Donations.

Other Doctors can align to do the same.

Nigerians are suffering from Poor Healthcare.

Our Doctors should do well to align with themselves to align further with 774 Ministries of Health in Nigeria for Better Healthcare Systems.

This is The Way To Go.

Afterall; when other NYSC Students were receiving 19,800 Naira as NYSC Monthly Wages; These Doctors were receiving Extra 100,000 + Naira to their Bank Accounts.

They are the ones that have and are benefiting most in this country leaving Many Farmers to Wallow in Lack.

So, Why should Many of them be thinking about Relocating Abroad instead of Aligning Themselves to Solve Our Health Crisis in The Country ?

Nigerians are Not Patriotic At All.

They are still Slaves To The YELLOW MEN That Call Themselves WHITE MEN.

@ bolded in red is completely untrue. When I served as a doctor in 2019, I was earning 40k a month, and was required to work for 24/7 for one week , then the other week I had to come from 8-5pm MondaytoFri. So I had only 4 days of free time in a month.

All attempts to leave my PPA proved ineffective because it was a militaryhospital, my LGI and the state chairman didn't help. I was angry and depressed. I also almost got exposed to HIV because of my superior's incompetence (a Major) and had to suffer nightmares and swinging mood for 4 weeks because I was taking PEP(drugs to prevent HIV after exposure).

It is not as you see if. In fact If I learn yahoo work or marry one billionaire, I'll leave this medicine for who like sufferhead.

Practice in this country is demeaning. The other day, last week, I was almost hit by the car of a patient who was rude to me and other staff, because I told him to delete the picture he took of me without my permission or I won't allow him leave. I am so mad.

I know it isn't better abroad, there's racism, but at least I can further my career there.

I don't want to go through the witchcraft of a program called residency in Nigeria. It is my last option. I would rather drop my license.

You do not still get it. If you ask nicely, I will enlighten you.

When you finish from an accredited school here in Nigeria, you are given a certificate of oath at induction by the Registrar of your regulatory body . This with clearance from your school ,you will take to secure compulsory one year training at approved facilities and on completion, you are evaluated by your regulatory body before you recieve a temporary licence you can now take to your professional body and complete all other registrations, pay dues etc before you recieve full license.

If you recieve oath certificate alone , you are just a medical graduate and not yet a professional so you are still not licensed. I have not seen countries taking medical graduates clearance of foreigners who did not stidy in their countries in lieu of a practice license from the foreigners home country to enable you take their own registration exams. A Nigerian who is a medical graduate of recognised overseas universities will still go through exams even before getting to do the one-year training. If you fail that you are done for o. It is not automatic o.

The way the law will work is to delay the process from when oath taking takes place to when you recieve full permanent license and make defaulters who flout the 5-year moratorium liable to conviction if they leave before 5 years. You do not want a criminal record as a professional or would you?
This is why you need to understand issues.
After God na Govt o.

Leave all these joke, they would still leave, go and prosecute them abroad nah, companies abroad pay off peoples compete agreement.....if you delay it, countries abroad can as well adjust their laws to accommodate them...u think they are as foolish as our law makers....in this country a labour minister stated that we had too much medical worker that they can leave...y r they tryin to block them now.....they block others children from leaving yet theirs are abroad schooling. Nonsense people

For those claiming 'federal government subsidised training' and things like that. It's not true. Higher education in Nigeria is designed as such. You can't compare how much it takes to study Mass Communication in Nigeria with the same abroad. Education is -supposedly- subsidized for everyone going to a government university.

There is no enough number of doctors in Nigeria to begin with. Our schools are not training enough because they lack the capacity to do so. Even UI doesn't have accreditation to admit up to 250 students for medicine in a year. Nigerian medical schools barely churn out a few hundred doctors yearly. So the brain drain isn't simply because they are leaving, the brains are not even there in the first place.

Again, doctors are not the only ones emigrating. For every doctor, five nurses have gone. For every healthcare worker, ten non medical have gone. Shouldn't we be worried about our tech guys leaving? What about infrastructure when the engineers have finished leaving? What about our trained teachers? Or the thousands of agricultural graduates who could potentially help deal with our food supply deficits.

Furthermore, why are people leaving at all. No bill can stop people from getting out. Eventually, they will abadon medicine and go do whatever in the abroad if that's what they think is necessary for their survival. Even senior doctors are leaving same as senior executive staffs of various companies. So it's about the country being a mess and people looking out for their best interests, nothing ignoble about that.

This bill is repressive. It should not be defended under any guise. Sadly, medicine is one of the toughest places to work these days. This is an unnecessary distraction and heating up of the policy.
Exactly.
In this country a labour minister stated that medical docs wer too much that they can leave.....wen western countries wit even more are saying it not enough....yeye ppl

You are wrong my friend. First of all, they can still travel abroad even without full license. In fact the UK like to catch them young in the early stages of their career so that they can be fully trained in specialist positions. And provisional license is enough for them to be registered in UK.
Secondly, the Reps are hypocrites. They are putting the cart before the horse. They should have made it compulsory for everyone to get treated at home, that includes all politicians. Any specialist treatment not available in Nigeria must be advised by senior physicians, at least two of them before being granted visa for medical treatment. All health facilities must be improved and salaries of workers increased. These are things that require doing first.

I agreed with you that reps are hypocrites, apart from first making laws to ban all politicians from medical tourism, they must be prepared to offer what they offered them abroad. Also which kind of argument is that they enjoyed tax payers subsidy. Are they the only course that enjoyed subsidy. O don't know why our reps are wasting their time on something that is not implementable. I would have expect them to make laws that will make it impossible for politicians to steal our money and take it abroad, instead of poor Nigerians that are trying to look for greener pasture. This law goes against laptop law, even by way is it every medical doctor with medical license is provided with jobs by government?

ImadeUReadThis:
To be honest, the FG subsidizes training of medical doctors in federal universities and teaching hospitals .

The cost of procuring a medical degree and licence abroad especially in the US and UK is far higher than it is here .

It can be argued that Nigerian govt trains medical practitioners for the west.

This situation isn't even good for western medical practitioners as the average pay of medical practitioners has drastically fallen from a minimum of a $1mill per annum to hovering to about $400k for doctors .

It doesn't serve the west nor Nigeria in the long run but rather Jewish owned hospitals .

To elaborate further on why the Jew wants African doctors to replace western trained doctors

The plan by Jewish corporations who own all the hospitals in the US is to import cheap and easily manipulated 3rd world medical professionals whose immigration status is tied to their job.

These third world medical professionals cost less, and are easily bullied to go against medical ethics towards pushing Jewish pharmaceutical interests like we saw during covid were most of the doctors sanctioned were not from the pool of third world countries but from the west .Any third world doctor that dared to go against their protocol will be sacked and deported asap if not arraigned in a court on medical felony charges and risk serious jail time.
Most white and western professionals have gone into private practice during covid for refusal to abide by Jew Pharma dictates. Some even got the FDA on their ass for prescribing Iverctimin to treat covid and had to go to court to protect their license and practice.

We also read here sometime ago on Nigerian medical professionals protesting the disparity in pay between them and their western counterparts in the UK.

The Jew has so much polluted medical science and reduced the position of a medical doctor to a drug dealer for their pharmaceutical companies.

A Nigerian doctor escaping poverty in Nigeria will have no qualms obeying his Jewish masters even if goes contrary to his own professional and moral etiquette since his employment is tied to his immigration status .

I would never want to have to sacrifice both my conscience and professional opinion to ensure some kike gets more money at the expense of my patients . That's terrible to conceive but sadly that's the harsh reality most Nigerian and third world doctors are facing in the west.

This is why the immigration policy lobbied by the Jew pharma in the west is being guided to have third world doctors replace white and western educated doctors.

Already doctors in the west are seeing a massive decline in their take home owing to a flooding of cheap third world doctors who will not question the Jew and accept whatever he throws at them.

It pays no one to see our doctors go. We lose our best and most highly trained and sought after professionals and the west suffers more from these same professionals being constrained by Jew pharma .

A good govt should look at not only improving pay for doctors but also the state of the hospitals .

Also an emphasis on medical morals should be pushed so our brand of doctors will no longer sacrifice their profession and conscience for money.

Those that went to private universities who subsidized Thier training?? Abeg park as if to say nah only medical doctor them they subsidize Thier training.

Instead of sponsoring a bill to stop them from leaving, why not sponsor a bill that will make them want to stay and work as a doctor in Nigeria.

No but they complain about Doctors' services and everything. That is why they go abroad for treatments. Do you think Ekweremadu would have agreed to pay Naira equivalent of 80,000 pounds for his daughter's kidney transplant? He did not even trust any facility in Nigeria.

The bill is dead on arrival

There is a temporary provisional license with which you use to practice for 2yrs and do your housemanship before it expires after graduation. That license Is just to show ppl that you have the right to touch patients for a time period after graduation during which you must have complete your housemanship. Maybe that license will now be increased to 5yrs due to the bill but that will now make the stress to hurriedly look for housemanship slots easy, and make the graduates focus on getting UK qualifications first.. It is that graduation letter with IELTS and not the provisional license(or the permanent license gotten after housemanship), that is needed to be submitted to examining body in the UK to start the process of writing their exams. And once you pass the exams you must register under GMC within 2yrs with evidence of housemanship. The graduation certificate, your one year housemanship evidence(which you can now do after passing plab2), grin your IELTS and the pass of the two exams that are the Koko requirement to prove that indeed you are a doctor that can practice in UK unsupervised. grin grin grin grin

You only need evidence of your Naija full license or provisional license when you are applying for visa.

Now this is what will be happening, Alot of Nigerian doctors will make it a duty and goal to leave before that 5yrs expiration just to show the legislators that they can keep their permanent license cheesy cheesy cheesy

It's not a joke at all and the Government doesn't offer scholarship it's paid through loan you would return in the course of your Career
But in Nigeria you just Japa to earn the same amount people who are trained on loan .....
I know this would surely come someday.......a regulation is still coming to control this move even by World Health Organization......

This is also happening in Carribean countries you are trained on loan and you would pay back including the US and UK that most of you are going it's loan but in naija your school fees from 100level to 600level can't pay a single Consultant anually yet you're complaining..... Will you force doctors not to graduate?

Will you force doctors not to write English language exam? grin

Will you stop dem from writing the plab exams?

If you can't do these then the bill has failed grin

That 5yrs you have given is more than enough time for Nigerians to get UK license and escape the bond of having to wait 5 yrs complete. There is no issue of bribery anywhere. Visa officers might raise eyebrows, but you can't deny someone opportunity to visit a country he already has visa of.
