But seriously until a crime is reported and a victim is identified the police are pretty much powerless even in developed societies. If this event was caught on CCTV or recorded secretely by a member of the public not involved in the 'crime' then I may understand all the outrage but since it was recorded and broadcasted by the 'suspects' then it could be anything from a true r@pe to acting a p0rn movie. If the police investigated everything that was posted on Youtube, Youporn e.t.c. they would be chasing a lot of false leads.

The Nigerian Police never takes cases of r, ape serious. That I know for a fact as I have been involved in the prosecution of cases like this in the past. Female policemen are more sympathetic, but in a situation where I do not know if there is presently any sitting state command female COMPOL in Nigeria, such comments from the Abia COMPOL will continue to reign supreme.

I dont have a problem with this, but how come the names mentioned by the investigators have the first names of the guys that the girl kept calling during the rape incident?

The Abia commissioner needs to be fired. How can he say it was fake? the girl was even begging the guys to kill her rather than to subject her to the rap e. It's very evident that that commissioner and his lackeys are useless and not dedicated to up holding the law and justice.

This incident happened several weeks ago and nothing was said until foreign press escalated it. I have watched the video, although the act is despicable and barbaric but i can't deny the role all parties played in the said video. There is a Latin term stated as - volenti non fit injuria  translated as "No injury can be done to a willing person". I quote from the audio in the video - "One of the guys said - don't talk about God, i am a law student and i know the law, and a contract is a contract. The girl had a contract with the guys, it happens in our schools, warn your sisters and girlfriends, As a Yoruba adage says " He who does what the ears have not heard before shall see what eyes have not seen before". The girl would not report herself cos the truth would come out and those boys shall reap what they sow.

Rather than do proper investigation, fish out the criminals and make them face the music, those in authority are busy denying the incident ever occured  -From Gov.
