You are living more than your means, most your bills there are crazy.
You are living a fake life to impress your enemies.

So,as a bachelor you do not have plans to build your own house in future, with this amount if you're the discipline and focused type who have plans for the future, you will cut down those egoistic and uneccessary expenses and concentrate on savings and investment.

Man, you're eating away Your future.

You are obviously living above your pay grade. There is a simple rule of thumb when renting an apartment as a salary earner. Which is, you should be able to pay your house rent with at most 2months of your monthly salary. If this is not the case, you would struggle, especially in raising your rent yearly.

For the fueling of your car, you need to look for ways to slash that budget by less than 50% even if iteams jumbing bus once a while.

30k per month for auto maintenance. You mean you take your car to the mechanic every month for maintenance? This is ridiculous.

Your budget of 62k for feeding is out of it. You mean you don't cook even on your days off?

You are at work every day, but you still manage to spend 50k per month to fuel your generator.

No wife, no kid, you are still unable to manage 400k. With the way you are spending I don’t think 1 million naira per month will be enough.

from your spending break down, apart from rent, you’re not really spending so much tbh .

What you should do is.
Get a solar inverter, I have the one of 425000 naira, it will power tv, inverter washing machine, laptop, phones , blender and fan. It runs 24/7.. that will save you money on gen and maintenance .

Find apartment of 800 k max. This means your two months salary will cover your house rent .

Your car Maintenance is too high , haba, when no be fourth hand car u buy. Your car maintenance shouldn’t be more than 30k max including fuel since u no Dey waka waka much .

Your feeding fee is very ok, infact I spend x2 of that for food .

Other expenses up there are normal to me

How many batteries and panels do you have

With such money you are supposed to be building an estate in different locations but you chose to live a luxurious Life.

Reduce those things that consume your money more with out you having any profit.

The salary is 400k, the total budget is 556k, the homeoffice is what provides the extra... 10k electricity is a whole month light oo... my neighbour does 15k sef, had to ask because i thought i was being cheated.. the 50k is for 2hrs or less light...20ltrs/week..(3ltrs/day).. the car fuel is based on the new price.. fill up cost 36k/5-6days for 9-5 work to earn the 400k/mth..

Where am i getting it wrong ?
I know someone earning this exact salary and with large family yet building a house. You are living beyond your means

Ahh.. i cant give N40,000 oooo.. it is inside the N10,000 gift monthly.

This is where you are getting it wrong. Life is spiritual. Money itself is spiritual. You can't give 40k. But can spend over 30k on hangout and others... Just dey play. If you can't give 10% even the 100% won't be enough. It's a spiritual principle. You are robbing God by not paying your tithe. Start paying ur tithe, reduce your expenses to the barest minimum, cut ur coat according to your size and see a huge difference. You seem too extravagant.

Clothing and foot wear shouldn't be a monthly expense for now, why not quarterly instead?

Repairs and maintenance of what? Your car or household items?

Your feeding cost alone is making me raise my eyebrows, do you eat out?

Nor mind that man who said he has a home office yet budgetted petrol daily,
Besides,
Why not use yhur living room if yhu must have a home office to cut cost and move into a single room and palour mini flat?

Someone that is paying #1.3mil in rent and earns a #400per month isn't serious....

Your rent is too high: Re-locate back to the Mainland. I promise you will get a comfortable place for half the price on the mainland.
Clothing, Outings, restaurant, sit outs and provisions cannot be a monthly affair. moreover, try not to attend all outings and reduce the number of aso-ebi you buy.
Feeding: Begin to cook your own food. Home-made food are way cheaper and very satisfying.

If You you heed my advice, trust me, you will find yourself saving up to 200k per-month. No jokes

You didn't include savings in this list. That means you do not have savings at all.

I learnt something that is helping me out. Never budget your money in figures. Budget your money or plan your financial expenses in percentage and stick to every percentage.

Remember this also. Financially educated person take out savings or investment first and then the rest is for expenses (this what the rich do. It is not easy at first ooo. It takes a lot of discipline) while the financial illiterate person will spend or make expenses first and then after save the remainder of the income (this what poor people do)

So for example for a salary of 400k (all should total 100%):
Tithe - 10%

Savings - 40% ( Remember I put savings above first before I list expenses below. Take it out first and immediately and push it to an account type like piggyvest with the lock feature. This is also where you will take out your house rent last last)

Dependants (e.g parents, siblings etc) - 5%

Food, provisions and fruits - 20% ( I increased the percentage here as a result of the recent fuel increase. With 20% or 80k, if you plan well, you will eat well and still have more that will spill over to the next month. Trust me I am talking out of experience. For me as a woman and work mostly from home, I do the cooking and going to market but I guess it may not be your thing as a man. So go to bigger markets in Lagos where fruit sellers buy from cos that's what I do and buy from those fruit wholesalers ie where the trailers offload fruits and food stuff.
Then go online I think on Instagram and do your research on those people that provide bulk soup cooking services and order 2 different soups + stew in bowls. Can decide to also order pepper soup.
Get your rice, semo/gaari, Agidi, spaghetti, and custard ( this you will make for Akara that you buy sometimes from the woman selling in your street) from market monthly.

Hmmmmm I am tired of typing.
From the above we have exhausted 75% and left with 25% or 100k of 400k. Use it to fill in the gap for the rest in your list.

Note:Never sacrifice your savings here for any want but you can sacrifice a want here just to stick to your designated percentage for savings. Lastly move out of that house and get a cheaper house like others here have said.

No Savings. Your rent! brah. If you continue like this you go tey for this rat race o. I think you should cut down on housing. You should be able to get a studio from between 600 to 650. Your housing budget shouldn't exceed your 2 months salary. I assume you don't cook; however if you do, halve the feeding budget, buy a fridge/freezer. You don't need to impress anybody.

Bros,
Take my advise and change to this:

Rent 50,000.00
Fuel 80,000.00
Car Maintenance 20,000.00
Gen 20,000.00
Food 60,000.00
Health 10,000.00
Data 5,000.00
DSTV 5,000.00
Card 3,000.00
Drycleaner 5,000.00
Miscellaneous (Hygiene, 22,000.00
Clothing, Footwear, Outings, etc)
Gifts to people 10,000.00
Eko electric 10,000.00
Family house 20,000.00
Savings/Investment 80,000.00
TOTAL 400,000.00

Note the following
1) At your age and level, single without children, if you are not investing, or saving to accumulate investment capital, at least 25% of your earnings (I consider family house as investment), then you need to have your head screwed right.
2) Don't mind anyone saying you should not give. Givers never lack. Whatever you give will come back in manifolds. It is the stingy that will never be successful.
3) Keep working hard to increase your earnings so that you can maintain the percentages when you start having wife and children. Eventually, proceeds from your investments too will contribute until it fills your entire need. Then you can retire in peace and happiness.
4) Don't waste your life and earnings trying to impress anyone. It will always end in tears.
5) Never sway away from God. Life is ephemeral.

Peace!!!

Move to a cheaper house and cut out the outings. You may need to reduce your vehicle usage..only to work. No weekends

Everywhere. put your budget according to your income. how can your budget be higher than your income? cut down your excesses and plan yourself because with this hand if anything happened to your job, though we don't pray for that. Na your VILLAGE straight

somehow:
A single guy paying ₦1.3m for rent on a ₦400k salary.

Spent ₦86k in total on fueling like what exactly are you doing at home to spend that much on fuel for both car and gen?

Remember you're not the only one living in Lagos, Ajah or whatever.

Money management is far from you.

Go and learn the art of money management, if not, in 10 years time, you're going to remain exactly where you are now.

Imagine what diverting that 500,000 Naira per annum to business would yield in ten years time if he chooses an apartment half that price.

All i see here is someone living a fake life, above his means just to feel like a big boy that he's not. Are you a celebrity that you are spending this much on a monthly income of less than a million naira?

You live in an apartment of 1.3 m per month, yet you still spend 50k on fuelling your gen monthly. Do you leave your gen on 24/7? That means the area lacks constant power suplply. More appalling is that you still spend 10k on electricity bills monthly, making it 60k mlnthly. How does this make any sense? Since you think you are so rich that money is itching your body, why not save up and install solar panel or inverter? That way, you won't need to spend heavily on gen. And your area in ajah that collects that huge amount of money on rent should be an area with an average of at least, 10-12 hours power supply daily. That way, your costs on power supply will be reduced.

And why must you change wardrobe and cosmetic every month? Are you a model or tv host? Abi you be ebuka's twin brother? I just don't get it ooo. You are trying too hard to feel fly and it's telling on you. Very soon, you'll find yourself neck deep in huge debts that even your 10-year salaries at the 400k monthly rate will be too small to save you from. And you even have other side hustles, which means you get about 500k-700k monthly.

Even as a lady, i can't spend half of this amount on your budget list monthly even if im earning 1m monthly. Who am i trying to impress or deceive?

Guy, the best advice i can give you is to stop living a fake life and be real. Be natural. First, change your house to a self-con or relocate to a cheaper location that will not charge you above 700k annually on rent. Even that sef is too much but still reasonable, considering your high taste in quality. Left to me, a rent of 300k-500k per year for a flat is okay.

Secondly, cut out many unnecessary things from that list.

This is my own suggested version of your budget, since you asked us to help you make your budget.

Rent - N700k/yr
- Fuel for car - N90k (where you dey go wey you dey spend this much in a week on fuelling your car? How many cars you get sef?)

- Auto maintenance - N30,000/mth (service/repair) (I cant touch this because i dont know much about this aspect)
- Fuel for generator - N10k-N15k monthly (do solar or buy rechargeable appliances with strong batteries. Dont use your gen above 2-3 hours daily. Manage the power supply like that).
- Feeding - N40-45k/month (wetin you dey chop? Dey improvise with cornflakes or garri sometimes nah. No be every day you must chop expensive meals nah).
- Health miscellenous - N5,000/mth (nice one, but is it every month you dey go hospital or buy drugs? Do you have some underlying ailments that you are treating? Just eat nutritious meals like fruits and veggies, then drink a lot of water, you wont need drugs or hospitals monthly. But i'll still leave the 5k health budget sha, since i dont know what you are going through health wise).
- Dstv - N4,500/mth (reasonable)
- Data - N7,000/mth (reasonable. Im even surprised that you are not spending higher than this on data monthly).
- Recharge card - N3,000/mth (reasonable)
- Dry cleaner - N4,000/mth (Starch/iron) (well, i dont know about this but dont you wash your clothes yourself? Buy a washing machine nah since you have the money. Do your laundry yourself, man. Or dont use the dry cleaning services every month. Cut off some months, like 6-7 months in a year, then take your laundry to the dry cleaners on the other months. When you are not an executive. Nawah for you o. Lol).

- Hygiene maintenance - (scrap this).

-  Gift to people - (scrap this, abeg. No be every month you go dey dash out gifts. Once in a while is okay, abeg. Nigeria is not smiling now o).
-  Family House contribution - N30,000/mth (Increase this. Your family needs more than the initial amount).
- Eko electric - N10,000/mth
- repairs and maintenance - N30k monthly (na every month your house dey spoil ni? Come on, man. This should be annually, not monthly)
- Clothing, footwear etc (scrap this)
- Outings, restaurant, sit outs and provisions - N100,000/year (No dey waka about dey waste money upandan. You are not a socialite. Socialize online more and save costs. Stay in your house and enjoy tv or video games. Visit recreational places that wont cost you a dime).

Total = I cant sum everything up there, abeg. Do am yourself. I don try grin angry

Lastly, invest in your future and stop splurging only on today. By now, you for don buy land for somewhere and start building your own house even with that 1.3 m yearly rent. Get involved in real estate if you haven't started

Which one is home office when you still fuel your car with 100k+ and still have to leave by 5:00am.
Oga! Carry your laptop comot for that room and rent it out to someone you know..
Atleast 500k of 1.3m will reduce.
