Joke apart, my Ma’ had it in her shrine for real. I used to fill it up with river water. After some day/weeks, the water dries up and needs refilling. How the water disappears from the pot is a mystery.

Some have pores and that is where the water passes through. Good water filtration techniques are often made up of clay mixed with combustible materials. I carried out this research over a decade ago.

Some pot do have small snail (Isawuru) for purification, the snail consume micro organisms that find it way inside.
