A Nigerian professor identified as Bosede Afolabi has made the country proud by winning the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Grant.

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) gynaecologist was awarded a research grant of $2,518,474.00 (N958,908,975.50). Her project is titled Intravenous Versus Oral Iron for Iron Deficiency Anaemia in Pregnant Nigerian Women (IVON).

The disclosure was made by UNILAG, which celebrated the Nigerian professor on its LinkedIn page.

According to UNILAG website, Professor Bosede Afolabi is internationally recognised for her research in sickle cell pregnancy.

Nigerians soon flooded the comment section of the post to congratulate Professor Afolabi.

Great politicians are here.

So long as they have a phone, they would register here.

I tell you the truth,it is amazing.

They would use funny moniker and be behaving badly here.

But they are really great and respected in the society.

I believe it is because people want to shed their mask and behave like children some times, that is why some great people find forum like this to act silly and reduce some tension.

In the study of human beings, this is the discovery: people want to shed their mask and behave silly like children once in a while.

The mask could be their exalted position, their honor, etc.

As adults,it is expected of them to act well, but a part of them still desires the childish fun, behavior and memories.

That is why forums like this provide the opportunity for them to act out this inner desire.

It was here that i know that the likes of Goodluck Jonathan, Reno omokri, E-money , Flavour, Phyno, Chimamanda Adichie, Pete Edochie, Yul Edochie, Davido , Johnson Suleiman, Akpabio, Omah lay, Nnamdi Kanu, Fire boy, Dj cuppy, teni, tems etc etc etc, are all active members of nairaland. Most of them disguised as troll just to have fun though.

My own experience is that I try to connect with people here and because of that, I am able to come in contact with very great people whom I never expected were here.

I think that the reason people post what is not reasonable here, the reason people quarrel and abuse others here is that they are hiding under the covers of anonymity.

Since most people are unknown here, they just take off the mask which people normally wear, and they don't feel the need to pretend anymore.

That is why they show their true colour when they are in an anonymous forum like Nairaland.

Everybody is just pretending when they are known by others.

When they are unknown, they would show who they really are.

They would use funny moniker and be behaving badly here.

But they are really great and respected in the society.

I am always very surprised to come in contact with Nairalanders who are medical doctors, engineers, rich business people, etc.

Here, we have former and current Nigerian leaders like senators, ministers, special advisers, and etc.

Infact, I don't believe that there is any forum that carries influential people like Nairaland.

Because of what people post here,I used to think that Nairaland only has jobless youths you are here to forment trouble.

But since I started getting in contact with people here, I have discovered the caliber of people here.

Here we have very rich and influential people.

Here we have PhD holders, medical doctors, lawyers, engineers, rich politicians, business people who make millions of naira, Federal civil service workers, Federal and state government teachers, lecturers, and those who are based abroad etc.

All my lecturer friends are here on Nairaland.

Please can you share your own experience of meeting great people from here?

It is just to say thank God to that particular lady who spent her credit to call me in a day that most of the people were secretly happy for what befell me.

In those days,I was teaching in a private school and I heard that my colleagues (fellow teachers) were jubilating that I had a master's degree and I was higher than them academically, that now I have lost everything, so they are now higher than me.

A teacher among them told me and that added to my sadness.

Then the lady called and spoke kind words.

That is why whatever I can give is to her only.

If the said lady told you her moniker here in nairaland when she called, it will be easy to track and write her directly as many scammers are already lining up to claim they are the caller.

She didn't tell me her moniker.

And then I was in so much sadness that things like asking about her moniker was not in my mind.

It is more than 2 years now and I have gotten the replacement for those certificates.

I need this lady to show my appreciation to her in any way that I can.

It could involve monetary compensation or any other godly thing she may want.

Anything that I can do,which is within my powers, and is godly and sinless,

I want to do it to appreciate her.

I remember when all my certificates were stolen and I reported on Nairaland,

the only person that called my number and spoke comforting and kind words was one lady.

My post made front page on 23rd Feb,2019(during presidential election) and a lady called me and was encouraging me.

Of all the people in Nairaland, she was the only one that cared enough to call the number I wrote down in case anyone saw the certificates.

That was an act of kindness and love which I will never forget.

Now, I have gotten a replacement for all my certificates and God has blessed me with a lecturing job.

I want to meet that lady to tell her thank you because her words really strengthened me in that day when most people were mocking me.

Please if you are the lady,I will like to meet you, by call,chat or by any means possible.

You don't know how much that call strengthened me.

The Bible says that we should be an example to others in our words.

Your encouraging words can enter into the subconscious mind and soul of someone who is mourning.

Another person that called was a man who claimed to have seen the certificates but said I should give him money to send it to me.

I did an enquiry and discovered he was lying.

Before then, I had sent N9,000 to a man who claimed he was with the certificates.

After I discovered that it was a scam, my friend contacted a policewoman who called him and told him he was now a wanted man.

He called me and told me he was lying because he just needed money to eat since he had not eaten for some days.

He asked for forgiveness and as a Christian I forgave him and the case was closed because I didn't go back to the police station to continue the case.

So I lost my money to the man.

This happened during presidential election day in 2019.
