Infact if not that we know that Sokoto is a Hausa Muslim state, you would think you are in the south west.

Ibos are very few in Sokoto but Yoruba live in almost every corner of Sokoto capital.

It shows that there is something special in Sokoto that's drawing the Yorubas.

In Usman Dan Fodyio University, Sokoto, you will hear Yoruba language in almost half of all conversations between students.

So she would find the state exciting if she is from the south west.

Moreover, the state is safe.

When I got posted to Kano, I wasn't happy.

But I told myself, what is the essence of being born in my state and during NYSC, I still feel that I should serve in my state?

Why not go outside my state and experience life somewhere else at least for one year?

It could be that serving far from my state is an opportunity to experience a different kind of culture and tradition.

When I arrived Kano, I heard it from people there that:

Kano is a place which when you get posted to, you are not happy about it.

But when you reach Kano, you don't want to leave.

I thought it was a lie until I discovered that it was true.

It was as much as I could do not to stay back permanently in Kano after service.

In Kano, I didn't even feel I was in the north because every where I went, I saw people from my state.

During Christmas in those days, you would see how thousands of people would just be traveling to the south and luxurious buses would travel almost like a convoy because of the number of people who would be traveling.

When the buses park along the way, maybe in Lokoja or Abuja, there is nothing that can compare to the joy of mixing up with many other passengers while eating and drinking.

Oh the joy of those days.

There was no Boko Haram, bandits and kidnappers in those days mhen.

Yes, after the Masters degree I got the job.

There are many people who are lecturing while they are running their Masters or PhD.

So many of them are sponsored by tetfund and some are using their own money.

Although I started working in another school almost immediately after the sack, I made up my mind to go for further studies which I did.

I later resigned completely to face my studies.

Now, God has blessed me with a lecturing job and it's because of that sack because I would have still stayed there since the school doesn't allow you to go anywhere, not to talk of starting a Master degree

When last I went to the school, most of the teachers who were my colleagues are still there.

On every Valentine's day, I usually pray to Jesus Christ and told Him how much I love Him because He first loved me and paid for my sins.

Then I will tell Him I want Him to be my Val.

I will then go out and buy food or gift for a beggar with the belief that I am buying it for Jesus Christ because the Bible says whatever we do to the least of the people, we are doing it to Christ.

I have been doing so for the last many years.

Which kind of problem is this?

Imagine calling off their 7 months old strike by December, 2020 and it is barely one year and they are going for indefinite strike.

That means someone who was in the first year in 2017 may not graduate by 2023, due to the Corona virus lockdown and all these strikes.

Anyway, I already have my Masters degree. Any day they call off their strike, I will continue with my PhD.

1) For me, I have learnt that as far as this life is concerned, nobody can claim monopoly of anything.

For example, so many people were thinking that Egypt will defeat Senegal in penalties because Egypt were good penalty takers with a good penalty safer as keeper.

But Senegal were able to prove that no one can claim monopoly of anything or situation in this life.

2) I saw a video of a prophecy that Egypt would win the trophy. But once again, God has proved to people that we should focus on him alone and work hard. We should stop listening to any human being.

If someone prophesies to you that you will suffer or have problem, don't mind him because it may not come to pass. The prophecy meant that Senegal would lose, but they won.

We must do our best to succeed and don't believe anyone who prophesies that you would not succeed.

Another thing you can do which I have tried and it gives me amazing happiness is to get intimate with nature.

Anytime there is cold air, you should make sure you feel it on your body. Sometimes, we can be moving and the air is blowing on us but we don't feel it because our minds are fixed on something else.

But from now on, try to feel it and tell yourself that you are enjoying air and you will start getting happy.

Try to enjoy sunrise and sunset.

Make sure you hear the cock crow very early in the morning.

When it is about 2am in the night and everywhere is quiet, try to put your mind on the sound of the insects that characterizes the silence of the night.

If possible, try to go outside your house and take in the beauty of the silence and darkness and make sure you feel the fresh air. You can just stay at your gate to observe.

Try to behave like a child by asking questions about nature and about things.

Try and observe small things which you have stopped observing since you became an adult.

You can observe the different branches on a tree, the different colors on your clothes, the little insects around, etc.

Try to observe what the sky looks like every day.

The truth is that children are not depressed because of some of these things which we have stopped observing since we became adults.

For example, a child can take interest in the activities of insects and continue in it for some days.

That is why the white people always organized things like going to the bush to pursue animals.

You will see matured white men and women coming to the forest of Africa to pursue and catch animals.

They'll be laughing and catching fun.

We must just create happiness for ourselves.

Remember that God has put happiness and joy in natural things, which if you begin observing and experiencing, will make you happy.

Also you have to know that no one in this life is truly happy except he or she has something that is giving him or her happiness.

So long as the person (who doesn't believe in the supernatural) does not prove that the supernatural does not exist, then he or she is very foolish to believe that those who believe otherwise are wrong.

If someone doesn't believe in the supernatural, then let him or her prove that the supernatural does not exist, otherwise let him or her keep quiet and stop attacking those who believe.

So long as he cannot prove and the other person also cannot prove, then both of them are speculating and what makes him think that he is correct while the other person is wrong?

But if someone based his or her argument on the fact that he or she is educated, then such argument is lame. You cannot just say that something is not true because you say so or because you went to school.

They will tell you "because I say so" or "because I went to school", and they expect you to accept it without any proof. Can you imagine such foolishness?

But that is how foolish some people have become.

Some people say they are educated and because of that, they don't believe in superstition or in the supernatural.

Ok for the sake of this argument, let us assume that there is nothing beyond the physical.

But as long as there are people who believe in the supernatural and are ready and willing to cut your head to use in rituals, then you must be careful.

As long as there are people who believe that your head/body parts can give them quick wealth, as long as there are people who believe in the supernatural and it is even working for them,

then you must be careful irrespective of your disbelief in the supernatural because those people are willing to use your head whether you believe in their superstition or not.

That is my message today.

It is not for you to come and be cursing and blasting someone who tries to advise you on these things.

Your level of education should be able to make you to understand that there are people who believe in superstition and are acting on it.

Your level of education should be able to make you more careful with strangers because even if you don't believe in hypnotism, there are people who believe they should hypnotize you for a possible money rituals.

Your level of education should be able to let you know that there are people who act out their beliefs and it works for them, that is why they continue to believe in those stuff.
