Wow, sorry about this. Sad. They couldn't even get up to N5 million back from him?

Did you ever find out what he did with the remaining >90% (>N45 million)?

He put it into businesses that failed? Got scammed? Gambled it away, or...?
He is a dubious contractor. He gets contracts worth billions from the government every year, borrows money to execute them, and doesn't pay back even after he gets paid by the government.

He knows people everywhere and is ready to bribe anyone that comes knocking at his door.

He drives around town with police escorts in bulletproof SUVs.

Morelike a corporate fraudster.

Why borrow money? Try to live within your means. I don't party, I don't smoke, I don't drink and don't visit frens except on events. My children go to nearby school. Carry For along too. Don't try to impress anyone.

It goes both ways. Nigerians are the most insensitive & callous lots on the planet.

Borrow them money and try to recover your money at the stipulated time, they will fight you and conjure up meaningless & stupid things like “Na money I borrow, I no kill person”.

If I’m dealing with a Ghanaian, I stay attentive.

If I’m dealing with a South Afrikan, I stay vigilant.

But if I have any cause to deal with any Nigerian, I stay cautious, careful & circumspect.

There is a virus in every Nigerian that compels them to prey on ANYTHING OR ANYBODY they come in contact with.

Never use “God fearing and Nigerians” in the same sentence except you’re dealing with an Hausa from the North (I am talking from so many experiences).

If you’re dealing with any Nigerian and he/she mistakenly mentions “God”, run away from such a person.

Before the Naira depreciated badly against the Dollar, I go the market to buy groceries. The stupid & the greedy market women were selling foodstuffs at an exorbitant rates that were even higher than the price MOST SUPERMARKETS were selling.

Guess what? They blamed it on the Dollar.

They would conjure up stupid phrases like “Nigeria Lo’n Pebi” meaning “Nigeria is what they call this place”.

You see some greedy Car-Dealing nonentities selling “accidented” & “flooded” vehicles at mind boggling prices that can ALMOST buy you a “USED CLEAN TITLE” vehicles; and they blame it on the Dollar - EVEN NOW THAT THE DOLLAR IS RAPIDLY DEPRECIATING AGAINST THE NAIRA and IMPORT DUTIES have been reviewed downwards to stabilize the economy.

I could go on and on.

Ask yourself this question, if any of these Loan Shark Businesses were your own, what “debt recovery” method would you adopt in dealing with these callous Nigerians, who borrow money without the intention of ever paying back?

In conclusion, I don’t blame these Loan Shark Companies.

If you do not want to be humiliated by the Loan Sharks, THEN STAY AWAY FROM THEIR MONEY. Simple as ABC.

Sure mostly Nigerians are cons.

It would still not give a shit! It is not criminal to owe money, i am not a theif, i just owe them, so many multimllion $$ companies owe debts, humans has being owing debts since time began.

The debt companies who do these passing of their debtors are not going the correct way about it. Infact, they are breaking the law by declaring a living person dead. They could end up in court for false declaration that their client are dead, but then again, as i ve said earlier, if their clients are delared dead by the loan companies, well... they can kiss good bye to their money! I can not pay if i am dead!

Anyway, they can only do this kinda rubbish in Naigeeria.

It's best to avoid loans, period.

Taking a loan is a declaration that you don't have money. But by taking the loan, you're dashing someone who has more money than you money you don't have.

I understand one gets stuck and desperate sometimes, but it's important not to become comfortable with loans. Best to get money from a friend and be honest about returning it.

Yes, there are people who don't return money borrowed, but the bigger problem is the terrible practises of the loan-givers. Enticing people to just borrow because it's that easy because you're hoping to get them hooked and suck them dry.

If you make money off the suffering of others in a way that terribly disadvantages them, you deserve all the cheating and misfortune that comes your way

No proof they manufactured d poster bro.
We all know they did it, but that doesn't hold water in the courts bro.
The judge will ask d plaintiff for proofs that they did it, but the loan sharks are wise enough not to put their company name in the poster. They know what exactly what they were doing.

These are loan apps that were recently blacklisted by the CBN. If Nigerians are terrible and don't payback loans as claimed by some people here on Nairaland, why then do we have so many illegal loan apps targeting Nigerians?. Most of these illegal loan apps recruited their agents here on Nairaland, those that couldn't find jobs elsewhere and are willing to do anything just to put food on the table, including destroying the only country they have

Everyone is attacking the loan shark. Don't get me wrong, I hate them too but we need to be honest. There are people who take out loans they know they can't repay. Avoid loan sharks if you know you can't repay. That's a common sense.

These loan companies are designed to put people into slavery and serious debt. When you borrow from them. They know borrows cannot meet up with the short loan durations, then they use another of their company to offer loan to the person. The person starts borrowing from A to pay B, before he realizes he is owing huge amount and cant meet up. Stay away from them, govt need to impose fines on any bank working providing account. Jail term for any Staff working with them. Stay away from them they ruin lives...

From the statement Saturnalia used above, " with the intention of not paying back"

It's evil and indeed one of the evils of the highest order for you to borrow money and have an intention of not paying back, this is soooooo bad!.

Having said that, how do the loan companies even know that someone is not having an intention of paying back? because some people are attending to their loans honestly by paying several of them gradually and if it's yet your turn to be paid , you then display their fake obituary..

Also people may be in position to borrow, because these loan companies are more instant in lending you money than selling your property or be begging neighbours or family members which may be slower or you don't want to expose your situation to your neighbours e.t.c , so borrowing is not new and not a big deal but if you will borrow , please fear God and make sure you have the intention of paying back and work towards paying back even if you have to sacrifice some things/lifestyles...

Your post is lengthy and I agree with most parts of it. But I had to trim it down and quote the only part that I have an issue with.

I don't know if you are a Nigerian. But if you are, then from your statement, I guess you also have that virus that compels one to prey on anything or anybody?
Whether you are a Nigerian or not, please do not make such blanket statements.

There are millions of Nigerians who are nothing close to what you described. If I know for a fact that I am nothing close to your description, then there are millions of others.

The reason why western countries appeal to you and your country men so much that you are willing to sell your kidney to go there is because they are organized. There are rules regarding interest rates and certain kinds of loans are not even allowed. For a poor country like Nigeria, every sane person knows hardship can push people into accepting loans with ridiculous interest rates. Most of these companies are Chinese companies and I have heard stories of people that paid the loans and kept receiving calls from the loan companies. How can you people even find the voice to defend this exploitation of your country's poor by these people. It confounds me how some of you guys feel comfortable welcoming and hailing the wickedness that is making you to run away from your country in droves.
U still running from the issues, the reason people don't feel obliged to pay back before the know Nigeria is almost lawless and means of enforcing is low and is why u see these loan companies do these things....if this was in western world....u know u can be tracked down and jailed and u still pay the money but here someone owing will still be acting like WTF

Oga! You are the one running from the real issue. You are still mentioning western world? Do you not get what I am saying? I did not say it in Greek. In the western world, loans are never given at that interest rate, it is a crime. Only recognized financial institutions are allowed to issue such loans and to be given such permission, it must not be at ridiculous rates. It is an exploitation of the poor in society. They enact laws that protect their vulnerable citizens, that is one of the reasons why you people don't mind selling your kidneys to go to their heaven. You can make your country a heaven too by not allowing Chinese to oppress your citizens in their country.
