Glitcher:
The onne port is an inland port with all its limitations. Check the map of ports in west Africa, you will notice how the frequency of ports stops at Lagos. The NDDC and state government do not have the capacity to carry out some kind of projects due to the difference in cost and allocation. In addition it is the responsibility of the FG to build interstate roads and seaports. The Niger delta states have benefitted less than 1% of the wealth they have given the nation. Their underdevelopment may be a strategy to keep the place uninhabited due to pollution by the oil companies. The issue of destroying the natural environment is another issue. They have found oil in the north but they are not pumping the oil out, you know why? Because they know how it can damage their environment. So much is given by the Oil producing companies and little is given back. The oil producing communities are just foolish.

You don't know you are saying most especially with the bolded statement. Nigeria export its crude oil through Onne Port. Please give another excuse

Each Niger delta state with access to the ocean should have a seaport. The onne seaport in an inland port and has been strategically crippled to encourage importers to use the lagos port instead. Yes, the state governments and NDDC have not done enough but that is not my focus now. I am more interested in the role the FG is playing now. One of the problems with the Niger delta is that the federal government appointees who make decisions over the Niger delta region are not indigenous to the niger delta. E.g the down stream, middle stream and upstream oil sectors are being headed by northerners hence no implementation of policies that help the people. Only the government all all level benefit

Stop saying what you don't who told you One port is and inland port? If the you don't know all Nigeria's crude export are through Onne Port up till tomorrow

If you have never driven to Calabar, you won’t understand how insensitive and wasteful this project is.
There is an existing road from calabar to Ikot ekpene which is a death trap now. It takes almost 3-4 hour to drive the whole distance. A journey that used to be 45 mins maximum. In fact, In the early 80s that road , a federal road was well maintained and nick named “uyo by Air” because of how cars were speeding on that road. Why do they need another expensive road when the old one cannot even be repaired.
From the Ikot ekpene end to Aba was another 20 mins., Then to Owerri before you drive straight to Onitsha. In all it took just 3- 4 hours then. Onitsha to Lagos through Benin express is less than 6 hour
We have not forgotten about the much awaited super highway from Benue through Ogoja to Calabar which is yet to see the light of the day . This was Buharis campaign promise to the people of Cross River State. Till today nothing.
And here we go again. If they serious about this coastal highway, why not start it from the Calabar end? Or even from both ends to be fair,

So that at the end his administration he won't be able to point to a project he started and completed during his tenure.

Tinubu warned South East during campaign that for you to deep your bread in the Tea you must get involved in preparing the table for the dinner. So all your shalaye falls out of his aspirations.

Check transportation and haulage requests from manufacturers and Ports South East demands is the least.

FG should also build functional seaports in the Niger delta. With all the wealth the oil producing communities have contributed to the nation there is still very little the government has given back to them. No good schools, no drinking water, roads or good sources of income.

Governor's in those areas...should take a leap..., they should be held responsible., what have they been doing with their allocations all this years..?
Federal govt. can't solve the Niger delta problems....hold the leaders in those region responsible.

As if what they want is for the FG to bomb lagos and start a new lagos in Niger delta or Anambra!...I just don't understand all this conspiracy theory surrounding eastern port!

This is a region that worshipped PDP for 20yrs and still worshipping her.If PDP could not address the alleged Eastern port marginalization (which is a fluke anyway)for good 16yrs then they are the most stupid set of people in whole world!

The problem is envy, failures blaming others for their backwardness.

You are either a trader or an economic immigrant to Lagos. I cannot see any level of intelligence in what you wrote here.

Firstly, you intentionally failed to admit that this project is a PPP where FG only needs to release 15% counterpart funding, the remaining 85% is sourced by private sector to finance the project. On FACEBOOK, non Nigerians from other Africa countries now know you are opposed to the project because it involves Lagos Atlantic City, Lekki Deep Seaport and Dangote Refinery. Africa countries now know Nigeria is country at War with one another.

You are an uncivilized crude Onitsha main market or Ariara trader. Lagos Calabar Coastal Railway project budget under Jonathan was reviewed by Buhari and yet still higher than this road project. Is coastal road project not supposed to be higher than railway project? Despite this, the FG is only required to spend 15% of the total cost, yet you are not satisfied because it covers Lagos.

The whole world knows your crying is not because FG is spending 15% of the money budgeted under Jonathan over 8 years ago for railway on road but because you don't want development along coastal states because of Lagos.

You have failed woefully. Go back to your shade and sell, customers are waiting for you. You don't have the exposure, intelligent and open mind to contribute anything here. Go and follow your OBI.

The south south leaders are to be blamed . Have the masses ever made anyone accountable for the 13% derivatives they receive ? Even the oil company consider people from the local communities while employing so abeg try explain to us how they’ve been abandoned. Gej had 6years opportunity to transform the place , he couldn’t even transform his village . Let’s sort the problem we have within first before requesting for anything cos it will still end in the hands of those gluttons

I think this is a bit harsh. Everyone knows how difficult it is to hold government leaders accountable in this country. I take it you're from the South West, don't the leaders there steal, who has been held accountable? Ondo State also derives 13% from oil and gas income, what is the situation of Ondo State? The only institution that seems to be at the forefront of prosecuting thieving governors is the EFCC a federal controlled body. The government have abandoned the people they are meant to protect from greedy leaders.
Also, the 13% is not enough to combat the massive pollution that the oil and gas industry has caused in the Niger Delta. Osinbajo went to oloibiri and launched a 30 billion dollar initiative to clean up that area what has been done about it today? Is it the state government that would generate 30billion dollars from 13% derivation to clean up the place?

The exploitation of the resources in the Niger Delta is a Federal government operation, the clean up should be a federal government operation and the development of that region must be overseen and ensured by the federal government.

The region has made great sacrifices for Nigeria and I fear that when the oil is no more in demand and the people are still suffering and the land polluted , ungrateful Nigerians, in typically selfish fashion will say : after all they gave them 13%

Only one state building the countries gdp we might think it's progress but are we really progressing.?. With the amount of people moving to Lagos by the day, Soon Lagos will decay
