He doesn't really need to. But on a sidenote, his shooting has been improving year on year and I'm sure he will only get better. I agree his current style of play is not sustainable in the longer term and against certain teams but GSW has great shooters, they only need someone who can get to the RIM with relative ease and can defend, they need that guy who can dominate in the paint against anyone, in Giannis they'll have all that and even more. You know he is good friends with Steph off the court and they share the same agency so I believe it is the most logical move for GSW in order for them to return to championship contention. steady986: |
Re: The NBA Begins by steady986(m): 4:56pm On Jul 18, 2019 |
kayjay69:I get your point, but Gianis would have to take the back seat in the team. Why KD was able to fit in that team was because he could shoot...mid range, spot up 3, dribble and shoot, as well as driving to the rim. With Gianis on this team, he would be more like an afterthought during attacks, maybe when the perimeter is well guarded and they have no other option. And I realise he could be double-teamed thereby giving the shooters open threes, but this can only be good for Steph and Klay. It won't be a surprise if he averages 15 points per game in a GS shirt. |
Re: The NBA Begins by kayjay69(m): 5:12pm On Jul 18, 2019 |
I kind of disagree bro and here's why. GSW have shown that they can just about blend any player into the way they do things. Giannis can still continue to be the focal point of their attack and that may well take the attention off Steph and Klay such that they'll have enough space to shoot uncontested 3s. Also, you must remember come playoff time when it gets physical and the tempo slows down, the Splash brothers struggle against certain teams, that is where you'll understand the usefulness of Giannis. Agreed, Giannis is not a finished article, he even admitted to that recently saying he is 60% of what he knows he can be. But make no mistake bro, Giannis will fit perfectly into GSWs offense and defense. I could even argue he would fit better than KD, just watch. If he comes, they will be a championship team again. steady986: |

There is nothing I will not hear. Stafford better than Russell Wilson . Some people are just enamored with personal stats rather than winning. |
Re: The NBA Begins by KNIGHTBlaed(m): 7:49pm On Jul 18, 2019 |
kayjay69: I would have said Giannis to GSW is not possible because of the love he's getting at the Bucks, but anything can happen in the NBA. Who would have thought CP3 might be leading an OKC team without PG13 and Brodie. I would love to see Giannis play with the Splash brothers tho. I saw a vision of Steph being the regular season MVP |
Re: The NBA Begins by Nobody: 8:04pm On Jul 18, 2019 |
KNIGHTBlaed: Giannis is not leaving Milwaukee. I know it's been said about other players before but he's not going anywhere. They love him, he loves them. He's not the teaming up sort of player. He has a team built around him, he has a chance at one of the largest contracts the NBA has ever seen. He's not going anywhere. Only way Steph wins MVP is if he can take the Warriors to the one seed which is very unlikely. 1 Like |

Re: The NBA Begins by A40(m): 10:04pm On Jul 18, 2019 |
I've always wondered why a guy like Giannis and some of these guys in the league with shaky jumpers have not tried maybe borrowing Tim Duncan's bank shot. I know Greek Freak's style of play is mostly perimeter and not post but come postseason guys like him and Ben Simmons who are masquerading as bigs with handles get chopped down to their real sizes and exposed as the big men that their sizes suggest they are. It's why I laugh when people go on ad nauseum at how much skilled and more athletic players this generation are. Yet their glaring flaws and inability to do some fundamentals when they can't barrel through opposition always comes to the light 2 Likes |
Re: The NBA Begins by kayjay69(m): 4:55am On Jul 19, 2019 |
Exactly bro. Shortly after they lost the ECF earlier this year, some news was reported (though he denied) that if he didn't win next yr he would quit the Bucks. As you can see, players in the modern day NBA have learnt the art of Power Play, they choose their own destinities and not the Club. Giannis will be a Warrior, it might be next year or the year after when the Bucks will lose him for free. But, I do believe Giannis will be a Warrior. As for Steph being MVP, I guess we will have to see. Since no Klay and KD, primary shooting responsibilities fall to him and he can still shoot. If he wants to, he can up his numbers this season but then this is Steph again, the ultimate team player. I don't really think he cares about those numbers, he just wants the best for the team. Re: The NBA Begins by steady986(m): 6:55am On Jul 19, 2019 |
kayjay69:Don't get me wrong, Giannis would fit perfectly in GS, but saying he's going to be the focal point of their attack is quite absurd. GS only know how to play one way. The team is built around Steph and Klay. For Giannis to come in and be their first port of call on attack is highly unlikely. But like I said, he would fit well with them, but it will only be to his detriment. He won't be able to put up 30 points per night like he does with Bucks. I know he's aware of that. 1 Like |
Re: The NBA Begins by kayjay69(m): 7:57am On Jul 19, 2019 |
Bro, he will get those 30 points per night regardless. See there's enough to go around in GSW because of the way they play. They move the ball around. And mind you, I strongly disagree with your logic that they know how to play one way. With KD, on and off the floor we saw they could play multiple ways. I guess you wanted to say they play best through Steph and Klay but even that is debatable cos KDs presence on the court won them the last 2 championships, it would have been tougher without him. Giannis is a different animal to KD. He doesn't have the finesse that KD has, his shooting isn't as good. But his play in the paint, is definitely the most dominant in the league today. He is an elite defender in today's league. He rebounds on both ends pretty good too. Don't forget he can also set decent screens and knock down some open 3s, so what else do you need. He does not have to be KDs carbon copy, he just needs to play his game and let the Splash Brothers worry about shooting from outside the arc. Bro, Giannis will even be a better fit than KD for this Warriors team and I do not think for one second his numbers will dip. In GSW, Klay and Steph will ensure his numbers don't suffer cos they are selfless players, through and through. And come playoff time, he will have teams like LAC and LAL for breakfast. I am yet to see an NBA player that dominant in the paint. Prime Cousins before the injury comes close. AD also has the potential. Though I have to admit, ADs game is more mature and sustainable than that of Giannis, but Giannis is a tireless worker and he can only get better bro. Trust me his game and number will not suffer. steady986: 1 Like |
Re: The NBA Begins by steady986(m): 8:32am On Jul 19, 2019 |
kayjay69:Look, his numbers might not dip quite alright, but then Steph would be the one to suffer. It's highly unlikely for both Giannis and Steph to record 30 in the same night. I can't see that happening. Don't you see how GS play? Anything they do on attack is just to get the ball in the hands of Steph and Klay, any other thing is only if there is a freer player to pass the ball to. And Giannis can't spend his time hanging around the three point line because he's not efficient there. And Draymond is probably the primary ball handler for them. You could say that of Steph too. So where does that leave Giannis? In and around the paint. Giannis would automatically become a centre for GS, because playing 2 to 3 players who can't shoot 3 is not what GS are about. As per defending and rebounding, Giannis would still be very efficient. And for the thought of Giannis eating LAL for breakfast, I say LOL to that. AD would take care of him just fine. |
Re: The NBA Begins by kayjay69(m): 9:16am On Jul 19, 2019 |
Giannis is arguably the most dominant player in the paint in today's NBA. I'll give the title of most efficient to KD, but Giannis style of play just means you'll likely have to double team him, that leaves open Steph and open Klay. Bro you need to understand something, Giannis and Steph don't need to get 30 a night, but the two of them can still average 20+ a night off of Pick and Rolls. Giannis and Steph combo will be a beast for the entire NBA to control, mark my words. And again remember, Steph's numbers did not drop drastically even with KD in the mix, emphasis on "drastically". Trust me when I say bro, if there is one thing the GSW team is good at, it is to make accommodation for just about any player (except ofcourse Westcrook). If they do get Giannis, it will be for his dominance in the paint, it will be for him to act as decoy whilst Steph and Klay are freer to shoot and in the middle of all this, Giannis and Steph will still get their numbers, Klay will also get his anyday, cos all he needs really is a little space to shoot, he is the perfect 3 and D guy. As for Giannis vs AD, I haven't looked at Stats but with the way Giannis plays he will overpower AD on defence. I love AD anyday and I think he is a better overall player than Giannis, his game is more finesse and smooth but Giannis on that GSW team, my oh my, they'll sweep just about any team. steady986: |

Quick question AD or Giannis? |
Re: The NBA Begins by Khanben: 7:20am On Jul 20, 2019 |
Coutinho14: Both depends on the players available. If the team has a good pg then I might take AD because he can also space the floor. But if the team has an average pg who can spot up then Giannis ability to bring up the ball at every possession trumps his inability to shoot. |

tallskinnyperv:Draymond is another example of a terrible shooter on the Warriors and he compliments so well. Giannis will fit in nice. They are a group of professional athletes with an experienced coach. They are not playing pick up basketball so they know what to do if Giannis shows up. Re: The NBA Begins by A40(m): 3:01pm On Jul 20, 2019 |
Coutinho14:Previously I'd take AD. Presently I roll with Giannis. Let's gloss over the fact that AD lacks that alpha dog mentality and chose to be LeNomad's sidekick for a crucial stretch of his prime. Giannis is the better passer and better defender. Plus he's a post move or two away from being the next Karl Malone or Tim Duncan |

tallskinnyperv: Giannis did make some open threes, and he clearly knows what he was talking about otherwise he would have been corrected by either A40 or someone else. Even if you didn't agree with him, the way you came at him was not cool, it's his opinion and it should be respected. I know you strongly disagree with him, but you should have just stated your reasons and probably start a cool debate with him. Re: The NBA Begins by Khanben: 5:57pm On Jul 20, 2019 |
A40: I was just thinking about the Tim Duncan's bank shot and how unstoppable he was whenever he used it. Giannis will be better served just mastering that from 12ft-18ft range. Then over time he can extend his range to the 3pt line. Giannis said he is working on a surprise for next season, can't wait to see what he adds to his game |
Re: The NBA Begins by SmooshCHN: 6:47pm On Jul 20, 2019 |
Khanben:And then we have one dude with max contract called Andrew Wiggins who has taken pride in his consistency. Dude has managed to remain the same since he was drafted. And then there is Giannis improving every year. |
Re: The NBA Begins by A40(m): 6:51pm On Jul 20, 2019 |
Khanben:Boy did I hate the Spurs in the early 00's especially Duncan and how annoyingly efficient he was. That bank shot was so money and this guy just found a way to raise his game in the playoffs. Every time Giannis does not need a 3 pt shot IMO. Just a reliable jumper whether from 8-12ft that he can hit even at a 50 percent clip. LeNomad for example is less than 40% from the floor anywhere outside 3ft. Career. Let that sink in 1 Like |
