This thread is more worried about transfers than the club management at Old Trafford.

And everyone more knowledgeable about transfers than ED Woodward

If people discuss club management now you will come and accuse them of thinking they are more knowledgeable about management than Woodward.
Now they ignored that and talked transfers you are still complaining.

Everything here you must complain and feel superior. This your attitude no good o.

I agree. Shaw is the reason we didn't make top 4. Ok.

But besides falling over himself during warm-ups, playing for the other team, or constantly crossing the ball to other continents, tell us how Young ensured we had a chance?

Young doesn't have those school boy errors Shaw made while trying to hold for CBs. Young holds often and does it well.

The summer is very long. Every year I get bored with same transfer talk throughout summer.

The season has not even ended, I think I am bored already.

I don't know what will raise my excitement about Manchester United. Currently, Ole's press conference are not good to my ears (again).

However, I think I have the confidence that the management will get things fixed. Let’s not forget that Ferguson is part of them.

Woodward has done everything doable for the club in transfers. He brought Falcao, Di Maria, Ibrahimovic, just that the coaches have been unable to use these players. Only Mourinho can complain he was not supported to the full in his last season.

Toby A is already 30 years old. Not sure thats a good idea considering his wages won't be cheap even at £25m. Plus I think he'll renew at Spurs.
if he wanted to renew at spurs he would have, last season.
No way we activate the clause and he opts to remain.
30 years is not the age of death for footballers, especially not central defenders.
Go and see what he is earning for spurs, you think he will come here and be demanding pogba money? Lol.
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by PietroRick: 6:03am On May 12, 2019
We are trying to build a squad with the future in mind, no mean say we go totally ignore the present.
Otherwise we would have given the mantle fully to Greenwood, Gomez and all their youth counterparts.

I can't believe believe a central defense that has Smalling Jones and Rojo will have any doubts about adding alderweireld for next to nothing because he is 30 years old and will die of stroke in the next minute grin

Then again, some of you saw wan bissaka and had Doubts about his addition to the squad grin
So I cannot be too surprised here.

Anyone that believes we cannot get 2 years out of him, at the level he currently is, is just being overly pessimistic or paranoid. Fúck, in 4 years he is not deteriorating to Jones or rojos level.

30 year old alderweireld is a massive risk but we can splash almost half our budget on koulibaly who is a massive 12 months or so younger.

We don't have to wait until he doesn't have the legs to play football anymore before we buy another CB too. So it's not like once we buy him, we are stuck with only him as our CB purchase for the next 3 to 4 years.
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by PietroRick: 6:13am On May 12, 2019
All the so called younger defenders will cost an arm to get and many of them are not as good as alderweireld is, and will probably never even be.

We might as well spend our budget on Maguire grin and go into the season with 1 or more of

*fatty as our only recognized left back grin
*young as starting right back
*Fred Matic Pereira and mctominay as midfield options behind pogba, if this one remains.
*lukaku as first choice right winger with Mata and Sanchez as back up. Lol.
*martial as our only real LW

All these positions to fill with 200m in this market and 25m for alderweireld is not a no brainer?
Ok then. Make we go buy koulibaly for 120m then
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by PietroRick: 6:27am On May 12, 2019
Alderweireld 25m
Muenier 25
Grimaldo or someone in his mould for about 35m is already 85m.
If you don't already see the instant and massive face lift the defence is getting wiry these, then no amount of explaining will do.

Herreras replacement will not cost less than 65m especially if we are looking like players in the mould of Partey or Ndombele. Maybe Tieleman for less, still we looking at 40m here.

Ideally we should be looking at a specialist dm, players in the mould of rodri, Neves or Ndidi, even gueye. Nobody here will cost less than 40m.
The less matic involvement next season, the better our chances and neither mctominay or Fred can take us anywhere as his replacement.

These already leaves us about 20m shy of 200m and I never talk of any attacking signing.
The championship speedster, 15m and money don finish

If we have to go the entire season with Shaw as our only left back and Ashley Young rotating with Dalot for the RB spot, not even van Dijk in that central defence will make us finish above 6th again

Clever ways to spread the budget, and improve the squad even if na small, is imperative.

Otherwise we for just buy all them Sancho, dembele, koulibaly, De Ligt, wan bissaka, chilwell, jovic, Ndombele, Neves, tielemans in one window.
I mean, I don't think there is anyone on earth who would complain if this became a possibility

Lol he say na school boy errors. So what do we callthe errors Young makes almost every game?

Abeg show us 5(that's even if u find up to 3) of Shaw's errors leading to chances for the opponent. Meanwhile, if we gather to compile all of Young's mistakes and errors, i'm sure we'll have enough clips to start a mini-series

How come we're keeping Smalling, Matic, Young, Jones and we let Herrera leave?? Is it that these ones have been posting performances better than his all season??

Barca and Bayern have both got old boys in important positions, there is nothing wrong with bringing back former players. We can get an experience DoF and get Fletch or Rio to work with the DoF.

There’s nothing wrong with Old boys running the Club but there’ll be a great problem if they are inexperienced for their role. We can’t be having square pegs in round holes.

The first priority is the structure. No one is bigger than the club or should be bigger. Everyone should know their territory and boundaries and do the best for their position. You don’t need old boys to achieve that.

Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 11:01am On May 12, 2019
My EPL team of the season...
Goalkeeper: Alisson
Signed from Roma in the wake of Karius disastrous showing the UCL final last season, Alisson has proven to be a safe pair of hands bar some school boy errors he committed earlier in the season which can be heaped on overconfidence. He has proven to be the difference when it mattered most especially his contribution against Barcelona in the comeback win.

Right back: Trent Alexander Arnold
Three words describes this young English man, Young, Dependable and Exciting...Just over a year ago, Walker and Trippier were the best in the league and TAA didn't really get a look in perhaps for his inexperience but a year on and he has proven to be a very good outlet for Liverpool down the right, his stand out performance was against Barcelona where he chipped in with 2 assist, one being the assist for the winning goal...He looks like one for the future but his performances tells me the future is now. As a Manchester United fan, I'll trade Young, Smalling, Jones, Bailly and Rojo to get him.

Right Center back: Toby Alderweireld
Toby is the perfect example of the guy who does the job away from the camera, he has been rock solid everytime I have seen him play, a very consistent CB who covers a lot for Trippier when he goes rampaging forward, not a popular choice but for me, he is right up there with the Van Dijk's, Pique's and Chiellini's of the world...

Left Center back: Virgil Van Dijk
PFA player of the year, Van Dijk has been nothing short of immense since joining Liverpool, he has brought leadership and stability where none existed prior to his arrival. If Liverpool goes on the win the UCL or league, he'd be on the Balon D'or podium unless of course, UEFA happens...Currently, he is the best CB in the world and if you think otherwise, then you must be a visitor here and should probably be sent back to Mars before the done of dusk...

Left Back: Robertson
No other player represents the ghen ghen footballing philosophy of the master himself, Jurgen Klopp than Robertson...He never stops running, in one second, he is delivering an exquisite ball to the head of Mane and in the next couple of Seconds, he is in with a last ditch sliding tackle to prevent an obvious goal scoring chance, he reminds me of Alba a couple of years ago...He is everything I wish Luke Shaw is and to imagine Luke Shaw won the Manchester United player of the season, how the great ls have fallen...

Defensive Midfielder: Fernandinho
Mr. Reliable, that he is the most important player in an otherwise star studded City teams tells you everything you need to know, a player who's never afraid to stick a foot in, he shields the City back so well that in his absence, Manchester City look a totally different team...

Center midfielder: Christian Erikson
If there's one player that almost always picks the right pass, that player has got to be Erikson (De Bruyne is another but he's had an injury ravaged season)...The exact opposite of Pogba who labors on the balls, prioritize fancy flicks and tricks over simple passes, Erikson is every coaches dream, here, he just about edges David Silva who has also had a stellar campaign...If my formation supported a 3 man midfield then Silva would've been the 3rd man.

Right winger: Raheem Sterling
A year on from whence an Arsenal fan on Twitter said he had more Children than goals, Sterling has raised the bar, he has had a fantastic season and were it not for the form of VVD, he'd have easily won the PFA player of the year as against the PFA young player of the year he was compensated with, you can't argue with the fact that he now has more goals than Children and it looks certain to stay that way going forward...
On a personal note, I think if City wins the league and FA cup added with the Caraboa cup which is already in their kitty, he stands a better chance of making the Balon D'or podium especially as Ronaldo only has the Serie A title to show for his efforts, Neymar/Mbappe, the French Ligue 1 and Suarez has LA Liga and possibly Copa Del Rey. Were it not for VAR, it'd have been a possible clean sweep for him, most improved player in the world...

Right Center Forward: Mo Salah
The great Egyptian is up to it again, he has once again proven beyond measure that he is no one season wonder...He went through a rough patch that had his doubters pick up the mic in a rush to say "I told you so" but it didn't weigh him down instead, like the Phoenix, he rose up in grand style tearing past defenses and scoring goals for fun and from every distance, Chelsea fans and Kepa will not forget the ballistic missile of a shot scored during their encounter at Anfield...If you must hold a conversation about elite players, never forget the name of a certain Egyptian, King Mohammed Salah.

Left Center Forward: Sergio Kun Aguero
The Argentine bulldozer has proven time after time what a deadly finisher he is, your typical fox in the box, Aguero is a handful to deal with...He has contributed his quota to City's course in no small measure with his 20 premier goal second only to Salah. Best striker in the league and world.

Left winger: Mane
The Mane called Sadio is the definition of stamina. This season has seen him add goals to his game which was the only lacking ingredient last season. He is a pack of energy, pace and power, his role in the destruction of the Bavarians at the Allianz Arena will not be forgotten anytime soon. When I watch him play, I see determination, a trait that's clearly lacking in Martial and all the other money mongers at United...He is a firm believer of Klopp philosophy, ghen ghen pressing...

Coach: Master Jurgen Klopp
I've not got much to say about the gaffer, 2 Consecutive UCL final is a testament to his methods...The slayer of tiki taka, the master of ghen ghen pressing, Klopp is the best coach in the world, better than Pep, Sarri, Emery, Valverde, Allegri and Kovac put together...

Subs: Ederson, Laporte, Gueye, Shaw, Silva, Sane, Pogba, Firmino...

We have a useless man directing the affairs of the club, what were you expecting?

Garner, Greenwood, Lingard, Shaw, Rashford, Smalling, Chong and Gomez.

Homegrown quota filled but Sir Ed obviously has other lofty ideas.

Yes, VDS want Ajax to be great but it doesn’t change the fact that most of their players will likely leave this summer. A serious board will have started getting in touch with their CEO and offering those players better package and selling the club philosophy or ambitions to them.

That’s how Frankie De Jong was bought by Barca.
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 12:40pm On May 12, 2019
Same VDS that has come out to say De Ligt is heading to Spain or England...So much for wanting Ajax to be great. Truth is that Ajax is a selling club and VDS knows what's up, it's we who are not making the most of our connect with him. That guy is still in touch with Ferdinand, Neville and a host of people in our club, if he was a Barcelona legend, Barcelona would've used the likes of Xavi, Abidal, Pique etc to trouble his life each time they want a player from Ajax.

At this point, we have to try and get Rabiot on a free if not then a huge chunk of our budget will give way for Herrera's replacement. I don't trust Fred and Pereira to do the job at this point.
