I av a question as a first-time to-be mom.
I have registered in a general hospital since march and visited the docs once without any issue/negative response. But my probs now is that

I will like to know if there is any-thing or any test or scan to do at this stage

since i cant visit the hospital as the doctors are on strike.

Please, I am just 23 weeks.

At about 9 weeks, they should have done the first scan then at 20 weeks the 2nd scan. They shld av done blood tests, etc. Make sure u get ur tetanus shots and ur anti- malaria. No major tests till u put 2 bed.

Hi evry1 am enjoyin my bundle of joy bt my holiday is over cos am goin bak to my place 2mao. Hv been @ my dad's place, so my question is wen can I start bring my lo out?

Ur lo is still very small, I don't think its advisable to bring her out except its very neccessary, the best time is after she's 40 days

I dey o. Can't wait to go shopping. I won't make the same mistake twice. I will shop early incase this baby comes early. Work is just too much effort. I am behind on so many things and can't really be bothered. My colleagueas keep laughing at me but i have seriously been dodging HR. God will keep me till next month when i can ask for my maternity leave as a confirmed staff.

I am just happy that my itching has stopped. It is such a big relief.

@maran,mogbomoya,the earlier u start shopping the better for you o,u need to shop now at least for the major items so u can take ur time and rest.I started shopping at 20wks,my last shopping was yesterday,everybody were like-don't fall into labour at the market square o,lolzzzz.So the earlier,the better o

How does one solve recurring headaches during pregnancy.

is the constant use of asprin the cure?

@baby,i think taking more of water would help to combat the recurring headache,that was what i was advised by the doc when same happened to me though our bodies react differently but you could still try it out

please house, is there anyone that has fibroids and has scaled through the hurdles of miscarriages? please i need a referral to a good doctor in lagos based on personal experiences, ive had 3 miscarriages in 1 year..please help a sister in pains..thanks

stay strong its worth it when you can call yourself a mother, IMO their is no better feeling.

have you told your doctor about this? Are you doing antenatal? Reacurring headaches like everyday is not normal. Have them check your urine and bp.

We're fine oo, little Madamis exacty 2 months today! Went to the clinic yesterday, for immunization, the little 2.9kg baby is now a thick Madam of 6'kg! In all,she's one health child

@baby,I had reoccurring headache during my early 2nd trimester,it was so serious that sometimes I couldn't sleep in d night and it only relieve with help of iceblock on my head.Even when I went to clinic I couldn't take their drugs because it was so many,only took Paracetamol but now I'm nt feeling it again,i think most of the pains during preg is jst for period of time so relax but try and see your doctor.

Thanks checked but my BP is okay and urine is fine.
had issues with my BP previously (not this pregnancy) so am on the watch.

also, how do pregnant mum cope with sex during pregnancy.
the urge is just not there.
dont know how to explain to hubby.

@Baby,for my 1st pregnancy I had horrible recurring headaches and also thought it was my bp but it was not. What I did was to rest a lot,drink lots of water and eat lots of fruits. I feel you on the no sex thing. In my 1st pregnancy I could not get enough of s*x I was practically chasing my husband up and down but for this one, I cannot stand his kisses least of all his touch and worse still s*x! Go figure,lol

Hi evry1 jst keepin in touch, to all preggies motherhood is truly awesome am so enjoyin my lo even though am walking around so tired cos of lack of sleep. Wen is it safe to hv s*x am so sure my husband is dying to get d groove goin cos my pregnancy was little or none of it. My stitches hv healed $ I dnt feel pain down there...

Dear maryswags, So sorry about your loss(es). Thank God for the bible says in all things give thanks. I said to 'give thanks' for the ability to conceive in the first instance. I had huge fibroids (intramural and all sorts). I had uncountable miscarriages within 3years of marriage until I met Dr. Adeyemi,a renowned Gynaecologist, the MD of Crystal Specialist hospital. I actually consulted him with the intent of undergoing surgery but he encouraged me to give pregnancy another try which I did and God used him to manage it successfully. I was placed on a weekly injection and daily dose of tablet for the first 4/5 months and I had a healthy baby at term though throuch CS. He consults on Mondays and Thursdays, feel free to contact him anytime you are ready. Hospital is located along Egbeda/Akowonjo Road (quite popular)(believing you are resident in Lagos). You shall never cast your young again in Jesus name. One Love.

I want to rant!
I have 11 weeks and 4 days to go and just want it all to be over. Feel like a beached whale, I can't find anything comfortable to wear apart from my new size 16 - 18 jammies (was a size uk 12 before) Work is a nightmare as there is nothing that i can wear that looks both smart and comfortable ( 1 work in an office) I'm hating feeling restricted in what I can and can't do, it amazing how you take the simple things like putting on a pair shoes, scrubbing ur feet, shaving ur below.. for granted My feet. legs and ankles for the last week have now decided to do impersonations of tree trunks which is so uncomfortable!! Love getting home at the end of the day, dinner, shower, jammies on and then in bed.
My tommy is so tight tht I feel I wld burst any moment, the thot tht I wld grow bigger scares me. My nose has trippled in size.
I am almost turning bulimic cos nothing I eat goes down, so I have to force myself to throw up so as to feel more comfortable.

I wish these last weeks can fly past!

Hi ladies. I dunno how I ended up in the ER yesterday but found myself there being treated for dehydration. The highlight of the experience was seeing my baby through the ultrasound dancing and moving around like no mans business! For that reason alone im prepared to suffer thru this period. Hang in there moms. We will all rejoice.

I too had terrible migraines/headaches from ~4months till ~6.5mths and at one point it wasn't just daily, it would strike several times a day, bad enough you cannot even think lol. Infact my doctor had told me to expect it that it was common going into the 2nd tri to experience headaches so I was prepared. I was prescribed tylenol but I didn't take it because I didn't want to take any pills unless I absolutely had to. And please oh sister, aspirin containing ibuprofen is not safe for pregnant women, make sure the ones you're taking are acetaminophen - prescribed by your doctor not self-medicated.

Lol. Every couple is different my dear. I was so sick during the first tri that sex was the last thing on both our minds. 2nd tri and onward got much better and since my stomach has become such a huge interference (38wks now) lol, sex has become once in a while. There are plenty of articles online about pregnancy & sex, try getting him to read some. Its always helpful for them to hear it from a professional source.

Sorry oh sister...dehydration, the result of wicked morning sickness. It shall be well with you. Glad the ultrasound gave you plenty of inspiration I cried when I first heard my baby's heartbeat at 12wks, recorded the sound on my cellphone so I could play it whenever I needed a lift. God will give you the strength to carry that gem. Amen!

Lol. So so feel you. This is time for hubby to pull extra duty. I get him to help me put on my clothes, stand up from the couch, pick up items from the ground, even to turn over in bed ... it is well ehn, be encouraged girl! rants help us keep our sanity and before you know it it'll be 40weeks . About forcing yourself to throw up - try not to (easier said than done becos I know I did it too) becos the baby needs the nourishment as do you, are you eating smaller amounts of food? it feels more comfortable as it takes forever to digest. Stay strong sis! soon you'll be looking back & laughing when you're holding your baby . Godbless!

As for me, 38wks and trying to 'enjoy' the finals days of pregnancy. None of my shoes fit anymore as my feet are swollen, na only slippers I dey wear now, I have about 2-3 tops that still fit over my tummy and I cannot find the lining of my underwear as my belly is so big and spills over the front lol. 2 more weeks... I hope this baby doesn't hang around past my due date oh...it won't be funny lol

Whatz with these doctors ? All these while I was being told all is well and today, after the umpteenth scan in 2+ weeks, I'm being told that they r seeing 2 sacs n only one is viable. Hard luck, but wasn't heartbroken. The news of a twin was not known earlier n hence losing it didn't make too much of a difference! But felt something funny in the way the doc behaved n went ahead for a second opinion. Seems there is ONLY one sac n this pregnancy is not viable ! They r expecting a natural miscarriage How frustrating can it get? Why do medical practitioners fool around with our health and emotions..why did my first doctor, a veteran, keep me in the dark ?
