@Lowerbwoy

Please scan and post your cousin paystub, so that the Tax man Akolowale can scrutinize and then give us feedback. It is stunning how he (Kola) can know how much someone is making all the way from Ibadan. I guess you (Kola) will have to go and apply for a Job at the store, and then work overtime and nights and see if you can take home 1200pounds a month.

Asda will never pay £10 an hour for such post.

Take a look at this LoverB.

A general Assistant at Sainsbury's supermarket with 11 years experience with Night Premium and sunday premium on full time earn £950 a month.

Is ASDA better than Sainsbury's ?

You may see the payslips with such netpay but you may not see the full contents.

Though Part-timer(20 hours a week) may earn up to £500 but dont forget the craziness of Inland Revenue.

for the record, I never said everyone was on minimum wage, the reference to minimum wage was just to highlight the fact that only a few people manage to break the glass ceiling and that takes YEARS of hard graft.
Re: Is Life Really Better Abroad? by bigbumper(f): 9:56pm On May 11, 2006
@ Akolawole
thanks

@ loverbwoy again

I am glad that we have ascertained that your friend EARNS £8.50 per hour and rakes in £3000 in three months working forty hours a week, and that people on £6 -£7 could earn that in 4 months and people on minimum wage would earn that in about 5 months, you get the drift?

But the fact still remains the same, how LONG would it take for them to SAVE £3000? Abi dem no dey pay rent, bills, etc.

My point is, IF your friend can scrimp and manage to save £400 every month for example, it will still take him SEVEN AND HALF MONTHS  to save this £3000 that people are saying is chicken change.

These people say they and all the friends they have, earn in the region of $100,000, and are trying to use that to justify that life is better abroad.

If you came up with an example of a friend in the same category then fine, but don't come at me with an example of someone that does not even earn a quarter of this figure ($100,000).
Re: Is Life Really Better Abroad? by LoverBwoy(m): 10:22pm On May 11, 2006
I think you can direct that at the person coming up with $100,000 statistic

I am not coming at you thinking £3000 is chicken change either!!!!

Re: Is Life Really Better Abroad? by OldGlory1(m): 10:44pm On May 11, 2006
@Topic(POINT OF CORRECTION)

I never said 3000 POUNDS was chicken change. I said it was a Bargain for a Visa to UK. Please go back and read my Post. Mr Akolowale and his off the wall reading and writing, interpreted that for me. Saying that i said 3000 pounds was chicken change. I said that some people from South America pay as much as $10,000 to cross over the desert by foot to enter the USA from the southern border. I still think that people will pay and have paid up to $45,000 for a Visa to the USA. Infact i know someone in 1997 that paid nearly $18,000 for a Visa to the US and never got it and settled for a Visa to Italy. Where she now is, and still trying to come to the US.

So please i hope this settles the Urban Myth.

I am not in the peddling business,if anybody gets denied for a British Visa, there need to go somewhere and collects their thoughts and ask themselves why! It is easy to get. American and Canadian Visas, now that is another story. But there are desperadoes everywhere, and trust me people will spend north of $45,000 for an American or Canadian Visa. Especially now that the Green Card Lottery will soon be abolished, i think the price for a "Hook-Up" US/Canadian Visa will reach well over $50,000.

You will have to be punching a lot of people as punching bags, because there are females i know that are willing to pay more than $20,000 to come here and give birth to their kids, only if they could get a visa.But enough said on this issue, if it was not worth it, people would not spend the money. But it is worth every penny and that is why people do it. Maybe you would not do it Mr Akolawale, but there are Thousands just like you that will, and are doing it. They DIE everyday in the Arizona desert, trying to come across into the US from Countries that are better than Nigeria. Figure that one out!

I trust you will not spend that amount, but there are millions worldwide that will. Recently ICE Agents in Seattle caught stow-aways that were in a Container from China. They had spent $12,000 each to be put in a container in Hong-Kong and shipped to the USA. Mind you it is a 2week journey and you cannot leave the container until it gets offloaded. They ended up being jailed and eventually deported. Many Die, some lose limbs, but all pay mucho dinero $$$$

Re: Is Life Really Better Abroad? by beyonce1(f): 2:08am On May 13, 2006
Honestly ! anyone who spends as much as $45000 even $20000, just to jump on the aeroplane to get to anywhere in this universe or even another planet is nothing but non-sensible OLD FOOL, a LOSER, for that matter and I owe no apologies to anyone for this at all ! just tell me you're kidding here ! shey 'were' (crazy) ni. and then it's not even to pay for the 'indefinite stay' itself! but yet to come off the flight and still struggle ! if the person borrows the money, when on earth is he going to pay it off ! honestly I think people need to be counselled on how to invest and start their own business. imagine what your turnover will be with this sort of capital.

SO MANY PEOPLE NEED CORE THERAPY, INSPIRATION ON INVESTMENT, & NEUROLINGUISTIC PROGRAMMING.

In Nigeria, For instance I wonder if we have people like Robert Kiyosaki, Jack Canfield, Joyce Meyer etc just to lecture people, because I honestly do not think an educated Individual would dabble such an amount on 'flight project'
If u run your business account properly with this amount, as laid down capital just for six months, You can definitely apply for a VISA successfully at no unneccesary extra cost and if u get turned down, it's the country loss anyway because all you wanted is the holiday. the result is you're financially free which is actually the prime reason why people emigrate.

And I thought In had retired from this thread!

But I cant help myslef,someone with brains in his head and not sawdust paid $45,000 for a visa and he/she will still go out there and look for a job? Just imagine that my partners and I took a 90 days loan for a project that will eat some into our profit and it was just 2million and someone paid ,

My good friend is going to get a loan of about that same amount to start up his cmpany in Abuja and someone paid, AH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! shocked

(Let me pause for a while cos All the languages I thought I dont use are comeing to my mind) Do these people have mentors at all? Do you know what an average business wo(man) will do with that? Are people that deluded? you could start a medium size firm In Nigeria with that and still employ one or two people with time.

The trend now is moving to Eastern Europe where Young Teenage girls have been know to fork out as much as $60,000 (Source:United States Justice Department) to come here and work as escorts. They are smuggled in from as far as Russia, and are put to work in Big cities like Las Vegas, NY, LA, Miami ETC. Some of them are sponsored, and have to pay back over years in "Kind" or "CASH". But i am not sure why everyone is crying for these people and calling them crazy, i think it is a wise investment. Some Escorts make as much as $2000 per day. The Chinese people come here and work and make what they spent to get here.
The Chinese, Mexicans, Ecuadorians,Elsalvadorians,Guatemalans,Chileans, all work hard and can make back that money in no time.
Re: Is Life Really Better Abroad? by LoverBwoy(m): 2:18pm On May 13, 2006
Other nationalities that travel with help from gangs usually find it difficult some make their money back but the majority of them regret it

But on the other hand NIGERIANS who are focussed and determined make their money, pay off their debts and go on to live a comfortable life grin

$2000 a day as escort for an illegal immigrant?

I wonder why people are paying all this monies to come to the USA. Not necessarily Nigerians, but people from all over the world want to come here and have a chance @ the "American Dream". So if Life Abroad is so bad, why aren't people trying and dying to enter Nigeria or many African countries? The line in every American Embassy in this world is full of people that want to come. Go to the Nigerian Embassy in NY, Washington DC and you will see employees sleeping with nothing to do. I must add that they are very rude and hostile to Nigerians too.

@Kola

Whether i can afford it or not, is not relevant.Kola Listen, Clients do not ask for work permits when they call 4 an escorts. They want a service and these women can fill their needs. Usually cost about $150 for 30 Min's of "Full Service". AKolawale you can call them Illegal Immigrants, but i am sure u do not bring in that kind of money in Ibadan.

I believe since 9/11, illegal immigrants dont find it easy to get job in United States.

I thought America is so rossy that you make such monies easily and you can help relatives by paying "$45000" to get to United states.

For God sake, where is Teenage girls in Easter Europe get such money.

Note: Eastern Europe are worse than Nigeria.

Latino's get jobs in the hospitality,construction,agricultural sectors of the economy. This economy has created 5.2million Jobs in the last 4yrs. Illegal Immigrants find it hard to find a Job since 9/11, but they are still doing it. Working as day laborers,landscape workers. They usually get paid "Under the table" and typically do not pay taxes. Eastern Europeans Immigrants work in the cleaning industry. They come and work cleaning walmarts, Target, Banks, and they do babysitting work, and they somehow get by. But every new immigrant community usually find a niche market and dominate that market. It is Capitalism at it best.

Teenage Eastern European girls/women are smuggled in to this country to work in the Escort Industry. They are usually Tall,with blue eyes,and Blondie hair,and there is a market for them here. I am not sure if they are "Sponsored" or "pay as they go". But it is documented that they pay as much as $60,000 to come to the USA. When there is a will, there is always a way!
