Gee2728: Found this @ a friends dealership for #7.5mil. Its a well kept M3,

Abeg make we debate is it worth it.
Gee, if you know what the M3 possess, you will know it is worth it. On the Auto section, some ordinary cars go for more than that

Even grand ma doesn't underate the power of an M3

Anyone have an idea how much a 323Ci (Manual) ideally goes for? I need some German in my life and prefer changing my own Cogs.

Tnk u for ur comment, now that u've said so let me bring up another case.

There was a mint looking 135i (didn't have the pics) parked next to it for about #8.5mil. So do the math, cld there be something we dnt know abt both cars?

Re: BMW Owners' Forum by Nobody: 9:23pm On Oct 31, 2013
The Merc is cheaper to maintain and has a better 2nd hand value compared to the BMW

Emperoh: No one is being practical here.
maybe i need to do my own findings. grin grin cheesy cheesy

Owners, what does it cost to keep any of the two cars??
if the benz is cheaper to keep, trust me, i am dumping the few more torque and responsiveness of the bmw for the benz
And if it's the bmw? Well, God must have buttered my bread. Heads of tail, i win. . . . . . . ok, unless fixes and spares turn out to be expensive and i mean, more expensive than the normal Jap mobile!
wink wink cheesy

au.hanson:

BMW is a marvelled sport machine to behold, i entered a friend's 318 yesterday and suddenly fell in love with its sportier nature after cruising around town with him in my sport benz c180, my only fear is the rate at which this machine is parked for ages to decay in several compounds in the south south, these scares me often as if its a machine that may be too difficult to maintain.

stuffs like that shouldn't be so much of a problem, a scan would reveal a thing or two...

That BEAMING light could cost you the price of your Kompressor cheesy

the difference between Mercedes and BMW is like the difference between Honda and Toyota...to me.
I have used a '96 C220, it cost me more to run than the BMWs. BMWs aren't as scary to run as you have insinuated...electrical issues are minimal, better fuel economy for same class of Mercedes...
Re: BMW Owners' Forum by yungboss(m): 5:11am On Nov 02, 2013
smartchoice: well a c220 is one of the MOST problematic W202's and wouldn't touch it with a long pole!

ok. But Mercedes is one of the most beautiful cars in the world. It's one of my top choice brands, and will go that way anytime in the future...
I sold mine because I learnt that the wire harness retires...Gee can scan that BMW and let's know what code kicks up, BMWs are no perfect...just like how the Merc W202 may have wiring issues, a BMW may have its radiator go off at some point in its life. This may not even occur, as my e36 made in 93 (my signature), has never overheated from malfunction (though I'm not the original owner), but carelessness. The tech that changed the rad fluid did not close it properly and the temperature needle went eastwards. I quickly pulled over got fluids and bled the engine, till this day it runs without recurrences of overheating.

adeniyisavage: i have confirmed that the bushings have been worn out...i would like to know how much the bushings or the entire control arm cost?
please anyone?
I do not know about them...since I have been using mine (over a year now), I have not changed those parts. A friend of mine did an overhaul of his 328's suspension in front, and he spent about N47k. But he later realized that his Mechanic ripped him off, he analysed the actual cost in the west (where he's from), and it was much lower...almost by 50%...Port Harcourt is expensive sort of, to fix cars...BMWs to be precise.

Ok guys, here is a knotty issue.

Just imported a 2006 BMW 525i with 98k miles on it.
Car was cleared and taken out of the port yesterday but kept shooting up overheating.
Parked it somewhere safe since we can't tow.

This morning, we discovered the radiator hose is pulled.
Reattached it and yet it won't solve the problem.
We bled the radiator to see if it solves the issue but no shenow.
We had to eventually tow it to my place in Festac and then ran a scan.
Partner didn't give me any codes as yet but says we need to change thermostat. I suspect it is stuck.
But i will need a second scan to confirm what is wrong. However, i suspect two thing. A bad electrical component of the water pump which means changing the water pump or a stuck radiator. A

But can anyone guide me on what other likely issues to look at before another scan.

Again, where is the battery located? We only saw a terminal in the engine.
My suspicion told me it is in the trunk.
But i am not there physically and my guy tells me it's not where i suspected it to be.
A quick help will do.

This is a picture of the car

Ur battery is in d trunk on the passenger side.
There is a cover on it which you have to open before you see it.
Thats d best E60 u can get. I bet u will enjoy it when the issue is resolved.

As for the over heating, is your fan working?
If it is, run a complete scan again. But i suspect ur water pump. Also check ur radiator properly.

I hope u solve this soonest

Best of luck

When I bought my C230K that check engine light cost me over 50k and still cld not get a permanent solution only 2 later find out it was a blown MOSFET in inside the ECU that cost. Only #400 to replace and problem solved..

My dealer is in lagos at the moment looking for a coupe... Spoke with him yesterday he said its proving quite tasking.

@emperoh

Also check for gasket leakage. Look properly arround the engine compartment for oil spills and also ur coolant reservour for oil.
If u find any, replace gasket. They r not expensive.
If no oil spill, and ur fan is functioning. Then ur water pump and thermostat are the culprit.

Pls word of advise
If the person with ur car is not a BMW specialist, quickly run and take the car away from them.
Only and only a BMW specialist should be allowed to touch ur car

Best of luck

Thank you bros!
Your guess where quite on point.
There were no oil spills or leaks anywhere.

I was able to get a BMW specialist who has a scanner and he initially bled the radiator, yet no improvement so we ran a scan'
Threw up this code; 2E85 Electric Coolant Pump, Communication, No Voltage at Emergency

The technician says the pump has failed and will need replacement.
Also asked that we changed the thermostat alongside.

What do you guys think?
Again, who knows where i can get genuine BMW parts aside the cut throat price at Coscharis (head they sell it for 150k).
Again, any other thing i need to pay attention to?

Dats a 3.0l engine I6 E90 naturaly aspirated with 230hp sleeping rocket u av there bro. Since its usa, am sure it must carry the N52B30 engine.very fuel efficient.

U shld have no issue wit d car being ur first beema if and only if u r not careless. Careless people dont drive BMW.

The engine and transmission are very expensive to replace wen u r careless with d car.

Tips for u
Neva allow non bmw specialist to work on it
Neva ignore any warning sign
Neva lend/borrow ur bmw out to non bmw owners
Neva listen to advise frm non bmw owners
Neva allow any1 to remove ur thermostsat. As dat might be d begining of ur problem.
No trial & error in dis model. Always run scan b4 attempt
Use recomended fluids wen servicing and changing(expecially atf)
Be prepared to spend moni to take care of care as parts are nt as cheap as toyota & honda.
The car is low, careful on bad roads
Lik i said earlier, its a sleeping rocket. Match gently

Good luck

its a nice BMW you've got there, so fast and a big improvement over the 193hp e46 328i. Xerotop has said it all, he knows better.
but like all 3 series, they have plastic impellers in their cooling system, 230hp and 6.5s to hit 60mph, that's amazingly quick. Good fuel economy. Parts are sure going to be expensive...it's got one of the best engines...magnesium was used to reduce its weight, making it the lightest 3 series engine (not too sure).
