dnpasion: Hello Nairalanders, I beg I need una advice o base on this particular question I'm going to ask una. One of my cousin who reside in the states is helping with the my school admission application and asked me to send him some funds to his dollar account(domicilary). But my question now is does anyone in the house know how much dem dey do the exchange rate when sending naira to dollar account? I hope you guys understand my question? Please I need response. Thanks The current exchange rate is about N160 to a dollar or so. Your best bet could be to buy dollars from the black market at lower values of the naira such as at N155. Then after which you pay it in in dollars into the person's account. Buying dollars at most banks could be very expensive, in the range of 160s, take note. Weigh the options and make a choice. |

This thread is no longer serving its original purpose. We no longer get interview experiences, all we see now are private discussions. Whats happening? |

Pls ow do I pay sevis fee? |
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part3 by bigfrancis21: 10:04am On Jul 31, 2012 |
kpolli: Lol. Why do you think people rush to the black market when they want to change the dollars they received via western union? When changing dollars, bank rates are often lower than what is obtainable in black market. For eg, if the bank exchange rate is N155, you could get N158 or even N160 at black markets if you want to change from dollars to naira. At this point everybody wants the naira higher. But when you want to buy dollars, buying at lower rates would serve you better as you'd get more dollars for the amount of naira you have. At this point everybody wants the naira lower. At this sale, banks could sell at N158 while black markets at N155, or even lower if you bargain well. Moreover, you have the freedom to bargain and bargain well with the hausa men at black markets. |
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part3 by bigfrancis21: 10:09am On Jul 31, 2012 |
kpolli: Next time you step into a bank, observe the exchange rate on the electronic display. Selling rate is always higher than buying rate. Means they sell dollars to you at higher amounts of naira while giving you fewer dollars and, buy the dollars from you at lower amounts of naira while giving you few amounts of naira. Either way, they make their huge gains. For most people, black market is the bomb, the best deal. |

Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part3 by kpolli(m): 11:23am On Jul 31, 2012 |
bigfrancis21: Sorry to say, this doesn't make sense. . . . The only reason ppl go to black market is cos u need documentations to buy at banks and there is a $4000 limit. . . . It has never been cheaper, I buy n sell often at both locations so I know very well. . . . Am not a novice here Selling dollar is better at black market not buying. . . . |
