PoliticsEx-militants Send SOS To Buhari Over 'impending Crisis' In Niger Delta by 9jaBlogger(op): 7:31pm On Sep 22, 2019
Aggrieved Niger Delta ex-Militants under the Presidential Amnesty scheme have written President Muhammadu Buhari demanding the sack of the Amnesty boss, Prof Charles Dokubo over alleged fraud.

The repentant agitators are also accusing Prof Dokubo of incompetence, fraudulent diversion of funds meant for the training, empowerment and welfare of beneficiaries.

According to the group, the alleged series of misconduct by the scheme’s boss can no longer be condone and are demanding that a replacement be made with someone with an in-depth knowledge of the problems of the region and the demands of the ex-militants.

In the letter addressed to President Buhari, the group said the rising tension and anger among ex-Militant leaders from the Nine States of the Niger Delta may result into wanton crash of the peace programme sustained in the last few years.

Though the accused Amnesty boss “is in the habit of paying some fictitious groups and criminal elements to declare support for his criminal activities”, the group said 'enough is enough of the wanton fraud' being perpetuated in the Amnesty office.

“We are tired of the huge fraud that has threatened the peace we fought for in the Niger Delta. If Dokubo is not sacked, the issue of rising production of crude oil may be a thing of the past. Dokubo does not know how to handle the security office which the Amnesty office is meant to be.’

“It is even more shameful to the people of the Niger Delta that Dokubo has reduced the Amnesty office and the budgeted funds to ridicule with women fighting over ex-Militant welfare fund. Dokubo should be reassigned to the university environment and not the amnesty office. He does not understand what the Amnesty office is meant to do. We are angry and our boys may go out of control.

“Why can’t Dokubo emulate the zero tolerance to corruption style of President Buhari? Brig. Gen. Paul Boroh who despite understanding the security aspect of the Amnesty office was sacked due to alleged corruption, who is Dokubo that cannot be sacked? Instead of performance, he is busy using Amnesty resources to sponsor media campaigns against the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva and High Chief Government Ekpemupolo also known as Tompolo.

“Dokubo is a disgrace to the Niger Delta people and we want him sacked and be replaced by someone who was involved in the Niger Delta struggle and understand the problems of the youths of the region.”

The group alleged that some of their members who served on the Investigative Panel set up by Prof Dokubo to look into the massive looting at the Amnesty Centre in Bayelsa State, ere dissolved when discoveries indicted him over alleged involvement in the criminal act.

“The activities of the Amnesty office under Charles Dokubo is rubbishing the achievement recorded by the President Buhari administration in the Niger Delta”, the statement added.

PoliticsNNPC Boosts Ilorin Access To Products Supply As GMD Resuscitates Dead Depot by 9jaBlogger(op): 7:15pm On Sep 22, 2019
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has boosted access of Ilorin, Kwara State, and its environs to petroleum products supply as the Group Managing Director, Mallam Mele Kyari, re-commissioned the Ancient City’s NNPC Depot.

Igbere TV gathers that the Ilorin Depot is part of the corporation’s System 2B Pipeline Network knocked down more than eight years ago due to acts of pipeline vandalism.

Speaking at the event Saturday in Ilorin, the NNPC GMD said the re-commissioning was aimed at restoring petroleum products supply and distribution for the benefit of Nigerians and in line with the vision of President Buhari to make Nigerians happy and bring peace to every home.

A release on Sunday on its official Twitter handle/website, said Mallam Kyari stated that the event was historic for NNPC in its quest to resuscitate its assets across the country, adding that Ilorin and its environs would be saved from the vagaries of bridging following the recommissioning of the depot.

While acknowledging the corporation’s success in restreaming a couple of its depots and pipelines, the GMD stressed that NNPC would not relent in its efforts until all pipeline networks in the country are revitalized.

Mallam Kyari declared that vandalism was inimical to all parties’ interests, the NNPC and host communities’ whose commercial activities are also negatively impacted.

Kwara State Governor, Mallam, Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq, who witnessed the recommissioning of the depot, commended the NNPC for its foresight in restoring the operations at the facility, saying that the development would bring prosperity to the State.

“The NNPC has saved us the stress of moving products through trucks through hundreds of kilometers with its attendant hazards and will help in securing our national assets”, the Governor enthused.

TravelXenophobia: Group Hails Air Peace CEO For Airlifting Nigerians From S'Africa by 9jaBlogger(op):
Nigerians in South Africa under the aegis of Nigerian Community Western Cape (NCWC), have showered encomiums on Chairman of Air Peace, Chief Allen Onyema, on his magnanimity.

Igbere TV had reported that the Air Peace boss evacuated over 500 stranded Nigerians following the xenophobic attacks in the country.

They said Onyema has demonstrated great patriotism by airlifting Nigerians in the Rainbow Country free of charge.

Such selflessness, according to them, was not only exemplary but also commendable.

The group equally praised the CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, for the role she played.

The statement which was posted on NIDCOM’s official Twitter handle, Sunday evening, reads;

“We, the Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the NCWC wish to wholeheartedly express our appreciation to Barr Onyema for the charitable gestures to ensure the successful evacuation of Nigerians from South Africa as a result of recent xenophobic attacks.

“We also use this chance to appreciate the Nigerian Consulate under HE, Godwin Adama, the Consular General and the whole member of staff.

“We thank the leadership of the Nigerian Citizens Association South Africa (NICASA), the national body for Nigerians in South Africa.

“We equally cannot ignore the Nigerian Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) under Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa who has been doing a lot for Nigerians in the Diaspora in general.

“The NCWC wish to encourage Nigerians to allow the recent attack on Nigerians to rethink about our nationality.

“The actions and activities of Barr. Chief Onyema, Consulate, NICASA and NIDCOM has illustrated that we can work together for the greatness of our country. Let us join hands together to make positive impact in our society.”

CrimePolice Arrest 18-year-old Who Kidnapped Cousin For Ransom by 9jaBlogger(op): 4:07pm On Sep 21, 2019
The police in Gombe have arrested an 18-year-old girl for kidnapping her 5-year-old cousin and requesting N6 million as ransom.

The suspect, Hadiza Babayo from Adamawa, allegedly connived with one Bala Shuaibu also from the state and abducted her cousin from school in Gombe.

Parading the suspect before newsmen, the police spokesperson, Obed Mary Malum said the suspects kept the girl at a hotel in Gombe and demanded the N6 million as ransom from her parents.

She added that after a credible intelligence, Hadiza was arrested and confessed to the crime during interrogation which led to the arrest of the other suspect by SARS operatives.

“After we received the report the kidnapping, the SARS operatives responded swiftly, condoned the hotel and rescued the victim unhurt, without any ransom being paid and apprehended the other suspect, Bala Shuaibu”.

She said the suspects will soon be charged to court for prosecution, as soon as investigation into the case is concluded.

Dr Bello Muhammad has emerged as the new Medical Director (MD) of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Gusau, Zamfara State.

This followed the approval and ratification of his appointment by the President Muhammadu Buhari led federal government, last week.

A statement obtained by Igbere TV signed by Mrs Enefaa Bob-Manuel, on behalf of the Minister of Health, said the appointment was for a period of four years with effect from Sept. 29.

The statement urged the new MD to “consolidate” and “improve” upon his predecessor’s “achievement” to “justify the confidence” reposed on him by the federal government.

“It is expected that you work collaboratively with all relevant stakeholders to ensure that the hospital continues to deliver quality health care services to our people,” it said.

The Minister noted that what was lacking in the hospital was not equipment but hygiene, stressing that unsanitary conditions drove people away.

He, therefore, urged the new MD to improve on hygiene and other sanitary conditions at the hospital and its environs.

He advised him to “treat patients like customers” and with respect, adding that “there should be a steady flow of water and electricity supply in the hospital always.”

A 59-year-old retiree, Michael Oshodin, has landed into trouble for allegedly duping unsuspecting employment seekers into the University of Benin N1.2 million.

Oshodin, an ex-staff of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), was paraded at the Edo State Police Command on Friday, September 20.

Our correspondent who covered the parade, said the suspect was alleged to have collected the sums from over 25 persons whom he promised to help secure employment at UNIBEN.

Speaking with journalists at the Force headquarters in Benin, Oshodin said he was contracted by one Christy Ikeke-Oni, a staff of UNIBEN, in the Department of Theatre Art, to recruit employment seekers into the school.

He, however, said that the said Christy suddenly died two months ago after he had given her all the money he collected from his victims.

“The people have been begging me to help them find job and I decided to help them when opportunity came. I gave Christy all the money I collected from them”, he said.

“She [Christy] died two months ago. That was why this problem came up.

“I was walking inside UNIBEN when one of the victims saw me and raised the alarm. I gave the deceased’s UNIBEN staff N1.2 million. I already told them I will pay them back, but I need little time,” Oshodin added.

Igbere TV had reported that about 317 Nigerians fleeing from xenophobic attacks in South Africa, arrived Nigeria on Wednesday with the assistance of Air Peace.

Igbere TV gathered that the N12 million was given to 162 of 314 returnees who visited the Church, with N100, 000 given to each adult and the remaining allotted according to the size of the families.

SCOAN Spokesman, Mr Joseph, who received the returnees on behalf of the church in a broadcast monitored by Igbere TV, said; “T. B. Joshua is known for his philanthropy, and that is what he did again.”

“The man of God is fully aware of your presence even if he is not around and he has instructed that you should be well taken care of. He is also praying for you. This is what he’s known for.

“You are the second set of people that came back and the first batch was also here last week and the man of God blessed them. So he feels what you are feeling right now and he shares your pains and that is why you are welcome here.

“By the grace of God, the spirit of God will lead him to do what is best for you. Many of you have lost everything, you came back with nothing even though your properties, businesses are there”, Joseph added.

Details of the meeting between members of the United Nations (UN) and leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has emerged.

Igbere TV had reported that Kanu led a delegation to a meeting with UN agencies and officials at Geneva where he presented Biafra issues on Tuesday.

The IPOB leader was accompanied by his Deputy, Mazi Uche Mefor, Head of Directorate of State, Mazi Chika Edoziem and other top leaders of the group.

In a statement made available to Igbere TV by the group’s Media Director, Emma Powerful, he said Kanu urged the UN to move against the various human rights abuses allegedly perpetrated against IPOB members.

The statement said that Kanu equally asked the UN to order the immediate release of Omoyele Sowore and
leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky.

Powerful expressed optimism that all issues raised at the meeting were receiving attention, saying Kanu had asked the United Nations to support the secession of Biafra nation from Nigeria.

Full Statement,

“The enigma championing the current restoration quest of Biafra and leader of the indomitable Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, today, the 18th day of September 2019, scored yet another mark as he led a delegation of Biafrans to an all-important series of meetings with various United Nations agencies and its officials in Geneva.

“He demanded urgent action against the numerous rights abuses inflicted daily upon Biafrans and the need to support the undeniable right of Biafrans to self-determination as enshrined in law, statute and various UN conventions. The case of RUGA settlement by stealth was also raised and the august body was left in doubt that Biafrans will never allow Fulani settlements in Biafraland.

“Every issue concerning our people is now before the various arms and agencies of the United Nations. Our case will no longer be ignored.

“‘Every issue concerning our people’ as mentioned by Kanu ranges from the incessant killing of Biafrans in their own land, extortion and killing of Biafran motorcyclists and commercial drivers.

“Exploiting the rights of indigenous people to self-determination as provided by the UN charter 2007, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in his usual charismatic poise has conscientiously pursued freedom for the oppressed people of Biafra.

“He also raised the issue of the continued illegal detention of Omoleye Sowore, the relentless persecution of the members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria led by Sheikh El-Zakzaky, ongoing tragic ethnic cleansing in the Middle Belt and plight of Christian minorities in core North. From every indication, there is palpable air of assurance that all the years of neglect of Biafra as a global issue requiring serious attention is now a thing of the past.”

PoliticsWhy President Buhari Created New Economic Team - Osinbajo by 9jaBlogger(op):
Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, has explained the reason why his Economic Management Team (EMT) was disbanded by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Rumours were rife that President Buhari disbanded the team to drastically reduce the Vice President’s power, in the midst of an alleged rift between the duo.

But reacting, the Vice President said the newly constituted Economic Advisory Council (EAC) was put together by President Buhari to assist him (Osinbajo).

Osinbajo stated this at a meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC), yesterday, which he presided over at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, as earlier reported by us.

Speaking through the Governor of Gombe State, Osinbajo said the clarification became necessary following a request by the Governors on the relationship between NEC and EAC.

According to the Governor, the Vice President told them that NEC could be briefed regularly on the activities of the EAC, with the president’s permission.

His words: “Governors requested clarification from the council chairman (Osinbajo), on the relationship between the NEC and the newly formed Economic Advisory Council.

“And the vice president explained that the council is advisory for the benefit of Mr President, while the NEC is established by the constitution; they are to complement one another.

“He (Osinbajo) added that NEC could be briefed regularly on the activities of the Economic Advisory Council with the permission of Mr President.”

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, on Thursday, received members of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in his office in Abuja, Igbere TV reports.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is an American private foundation founded in 1994 as the William Gates Foundation by Bill Gates and wife, Melinda.

Re-launched in the year 2000 as Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, it is reported to be the largest private foundation in the world, holding $50.7 billion in assets.

Bill and Melinda Gates have been named the most generous philanthropists in the US. They have donated more than $36 billion to charitable causes, including $4.8 billion last year.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation works to help all people lead healthy, productive lives. In Nigeria, it focuses on eradication of polio, hunger and extreme poverty, while donating in billions to the country.

Speaking when he received the Gates’ leadership, Gbajabiamila asked the Foundation to intensify its intervention programmes in the areas of health care delivery services and agriculture.

He said Nigeria was always desirous of collaboration with development partners that would impact positively on the socio-political and economic development of the country.

The Speaker said Nigeria’s collaboration with the Foundation became imperative as the country marched toward the diversification of its economy and improved healthcare service delivery to the people.

Igbere TV reports that the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s delegation was led by its President, Global Development, Mr Chris Elias.

PoliticsFEC Meeting: Osinbajo Commits ‘Blunder’, Says Economic Instead Of Executive by 9jaBlogger(op): 2:45pm On Sep 18, 2019
Nigeria’s Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo has committed blunder on his verified Twitter handle, @ProfOsinbajo, Igbere TV reports.

This was as the Vice President took to the micro-blogging social media platform, to announce today's Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.

“Today, President Muhammadu Buhari presided over the Federal ECONOMIC Council...”, he wrote.

“We remain committed to improving the lot of the Nigerian people.”

https://twitter.com/ProfOsinbajo/status/1174308936314445826?s=19

He has since deleted the tweet.

Osinbajo’s blunder and tweet on “Economy”, instead of ‘Executive’, comes two days after Buhari disbanded his Economic Management Team and constituted a new Economic Advisory Council.

Today's FEC meeting, which was presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, is the second since his inauguration for a second term.

President Buhari had, last Wednesday, September 11, presided over the first Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting of his second term in office.

Igbere TV recalls that the maiden FEC meeting clashed with the Presidential Election Tribunal’s sitting, which upheld Buhari’s re-election as president.

The president inaugurated his cabinet on August 21, almost three months after he was sworn in for a second term, May 29.

Xenophobia: ex-Minister Makes Strong Case For The Igbos

A former minister of Aviation, Mr Femi Fani-Kayode, has made quite a strong case for the South easterners (Igbos) in Nigeria, Igbere TV reports.

Fani-Kayode has called on Nigerians to stop stereotyping the Igbos following an act by the Founder of Air Peace, Allen Onyema, who is from the Southeast region.

Igbere TV had reported Onyema, using his Airline, evacuated 187 Nigerians from South Africa, following the renewed xenophobic attacks in that country.

They were airlifted by Air Peace at no cost, while the Airline company bears the entire bill burden for their flight, according to the Founder.

This development has caused many Nigerians to heap praises and prayers on Onyema, even as some pledged to make Air Peace their official flying company.

Reacting to the development in a tweet sighted by Igbere TV on Saturday, Mr Fani-Kayode wrote;

“Next time you complain about Igbos or subject them to the usual nonsensical racial-stereotyping kindly remember that when our compatriots were being slaughtered in South Africa it was an Igbo man called Onyema that sent his planes to bring them home and he did so free of charge!”
